I am glad you are not jumping on the band wagon and saying "Graphics don't matter". I will argue on fun though, would you really have the same amount of fun playing Skyrim if your character was an amorphous blob and the enemies are other blobs? They do impact how fun games can be by giving the player a more immersive or "real" feeling (if that is there aesthetic).
