they have a thing in some US cities where they convert abandoned rail lines to bicycle paths, its called 'rails to trails' in Seattle... it works out pretty good because most lines take a flat and direct rout from village to village, bridges over waterways and automotive thoroughfares are also already in place. in most cases traveling via bicycle is faster than driving or public transportation
Funny stuff. Although can you answer the question on the video of why other cyclists don't use them? I use them because that'w what they're there for.
haha, I've been there. When I find cycle lanes here they're usually about 25 meters and terminate directly into grass. It's like the state had just enough money to fail.
What a load of bollocks mate ! Have you thought of contacting the council and telling them about this pathetic cycle path and ask *when* it is to be extended ?
i had a feelig you were going to do soemthign like this.
ive seen some crazy designs, and the worst one was in the paper 2 years ago with an almight length of 2ft (which was on a corner of a path , not the road, and was near the main round about ) lol
I bet the Council have that down as something wonderful they have done for cycling, how their investing in essential infrastructure, and if only the cyclists would stop complaining and get using said facilities.
It starts opposite the new Sheffield Edinburgh Bicycle Co-Op heading South..not quite sure where it was ever supposed to go since it would always head into the back of some units (or into the River Sheaf)
Only a Council could come up with that kind of total bollocks, I am still laughing :-)
