  • I think that sikhs deserve to wear their turban as royal guards and in the military for their loyalty to England. They fight with us, they're one of us.

  • when all avenues to peace are exhausted, it is just to raise the sword.... my respect to all sikh and brit soldiers past and present!

  • Sikhs, one of the greatest regiments of the British army along with the Scots.

  • My Uncle Frank was part of the Indian Army during WW11 and served in N Africa and Italy with these guys. After the war one of his men opened a restaurant in Southall, London and when ever he and his wife Kit visited, he was never charged..That was the bond between them. He looked after them, they will then look after you. According to him, he was in the Indian Army, not the British. He actually came from Wiltshire, West of England.

  • @queenshussars thats funny - one of my great grandparents served there too. Its alwyas encouraging to see comments from people like yourself as sometimes I feel the generation of brits who knew the Sikhs are fading away and being replaced by another generation obsessed with muslim extremists on the telly. God bless your grandfather - soldiers are pretty sacred to us Sikhs.

  • i would be honoured and very happy to have a sikh watching my back in any conflict . thank you for your service to the british army . god bless you all .

  • The British were not stupid, the Sikhs like the Gurkhas were considered "marshal races" and it was considered (very wisely) that such people should be on your side rather than be an enemy, and the Sikh regiments, like the Gurkhas served the British Army extremely welland its kind of sad the Sikh regiments are no more in the British Army, but nice to know they still serve.

  • I admit....best soldiers in the world. Respect from Canada

  • I know there are still sikhs in the British army and that they wear turbans instead of berets (I saw a few while I was in the TA), but do they have to wear helmets like everyone else when in actual combat?

  • I respect the sikh religion more than any other in britain. All the others can fuck themselves. From an atheist

  • My great great grandfather who was a Scot, fought and died along side a Sikh regiment on the first day of the Somme. They must have been a terrifying sight, a load of men in skirts and a load in turbans going over the top!

    Great tribute video, greatly appreciated!

  • singh = lion

  • @topper2142 thank you.

  • @vik238 you did a good job budddy really nice video thank you.

  • @topper2142 well said.

  • The best troops in the world no Question

  • Sir Winston Churchill speaking in the British Parliament said:

"...British people are highly indebted and obliged to Sikhs for a long time. I know that within this century we needed their help twice and they did help us very well. As a result of their timely help, we are today able to live with honour, dignity, and independence. In the war, they fought and died for us, wearing the turbans."

    Great video btw.

  • always ahead in bravery.........true lions.

  • Mighty Khalsas.....Saint soldiers..... men of true courage - amazing how a such small race has served all over the world....... proud to be a Khalsa

  • true warriors

  • Amazing video. Just so much history of brave Sikhs fighting wars and battles for truth!

  • Sikhs have not only contributed a lot to India, but the world as well. They should feel very proud, as I am proud of having Sikhs in India.

    India Zindabad

  • sooo Proud!!!!!

  • Fair Play to the Sikhs & The Gurkhas

  • The Sikh Regiment was at one point the MOST DECORATED REGIMENT IN THE BRITISH EMPIRE

    says something about these people

  • We salute our Sikh brothers for their bravery in the face of adversity.

    Lest we forget!

  • @HertfordshireEDL "We salute our Sikh brothers for their bravery in the face of adversity. Lest we forgot !" First I for one MUST thank you for your appreciation of Sikhs, let me assure you and EDL that Sikhs will be at the forefront at the time of need in UK or else where, fighting the evils of.......,you know who? No matter where ever the Sikhs have settled in foreign lands they have work hard and integrated, and at no time have they been problem to indigenous people. God bless us both.

  • thats sum good video. many thanks from the uk

  • thanks

  • I wish we had more Sikhs in Britain, I find them to be very patriotic to whatever country they live in while remaining true to their own beliefs and heritage.

  • i agree. a very proud people.

  • LEST WE FORGET

  • I dedicate this video to all Allied forces from various parts of the world who helped rescue freedom and liberty, including the Sikhs who undoubtedly played a key role in various theatres of both great wars - a fact that is oftentimes not recognized and also overlooked to a great extent. World security, peace, and facing evil with courage is what we stood for then.. and continue to strive for today.

  • some remember thank you all for your service

british army was my home for 14 years well done

if there is ever any doubt just go to the somme and see

  • I salute you brave lads from the Punjab

  • Thank you for fighting along side us brothers! On Wednesday, we shall remember our fallen forefathers and those currently fighting for freedom and liberty!

  • Sikh's will forever be welcome to the United Kingdom.

  • I agree 100% The Idiots like the BNP should look and learn HOW DARE THEY question these peoples right to be in the UK the vast majority of British people respect our Sikh Brothers and Sisters Greatly My Total Respect to these fine people

  • I come from a family of tall blonde and blue eyed people who has a military history, especially fighting against the Likes of the BNP types! I have nothing against any race or creed as long as they have nothing against me or my family. Anyway the Sikhs` Gurkha's and all of them who fought for the freedom of Free man have the right to live here.

  • we contribute alot in ww1 and ww2 , so don't deny it

  • Many of us would stand shoulder to shoulder with you guys. Well done, nice video.

  • thank u

  • sikhs are brave and i would have no problem stand shoulder to shoulder with them in battle.

    they like clingons

  • AWESOME!

  • I'm a Cossack Russian and I have many Sikh friends in Moscow!

Sikhs & Cossacks have a lot in common, we are best friends, we are the best warriors and nobody should mess with us, cos it will be ur worst fucking nightmare!

As you say in Punjabi Chakdey Fatey!

  • i feel the same way, i am a Sikh

Cossacks are a minority in Russia but they make up the majority of the Special Forces just like Sikhs in India

there is a theory that states that the Jatt people (Sikhs) came from southern Russia in a land called Scythia, and migrated to India thousands of years ago

if that is true we are brothers

  • glad to see these great loyal brave men getting a mention well done

  • god bless u

  • thank you

  • Fairplay, you still see elderly Sikh men supporting British Army parades in the UK ,

  • I love this video. 3 of my grandma's uncle's faught in WW2, one died.

  • aapna punjab hove

on a serious note, why dont sikhs get mentioned like the gurkhas, out of interest? 85,000 lives and years of service begs for recognition

  • 85,000 Sikhs Died in World War 2 for the Allied forces

  • Brave lads. Sikh's have a proud warrior tradition from 18th centuary until today. No wonder they were the toughest guys in the British Raj Indian Army. If you were slogging it out with the Japanese across the Burma jungle in 1943 you would be very happy to have a group of Sikh troops with you.

  • Sikhs have been warriors since 1699 when we defeated the muslims who were forcing islam on the inhabitants of Punjab. ;-)

  • it wud b nyc if the british history books mentioned sikhs in world wars

  • I never learnt anything about the UKs role in the two wars or the Commonwealth in my entire time in Education. I agree the Sikhs need a good mention!

  • Agreed Mate

  • oi gordon brown give us a sikh regiment, give us a chance to get back in the thick of it

  • there actually has been talk of religious brigades being re-introduced in the army after further reorganisations of forces.

  • Until the PC brigade said it would cause discrimination and racial hatred. The MoD then backed off from the idea.

  • LOL i f**kin love that bit just after the 1st minute with the singh taking all those germans prisoner!!!

  • It's good to see that the contribution of the Khalsa towards the British Empire is remembered.

  • God Bless Singh.

    Down with the negative comments.

  • @THEPRREDATOR agree

  • lol. sure. Like she controlls the country. Get your head out of that young girl, wake up and wake smell the coffee

  • india had 1,000,000 men fight in WW1. they played a big part in the number of men.

  • yea but no one in the west knows that india did serve in WW1 . some do and they say we played a very minor role(i know cuz i live in uk)

  • I'm western and I know. And it's appreciated. Anyone who was there appreciates it too. 5th Indian division was in North Africa and then throughout the Itialian campaign. In fighting the Japanese in Burma the majority of troops were Indian. The problem is just shitty teaching of history. Most kids don't even know about WWII let alone who fought and where.

  • Its good

but how can we forget what the british did to india

  • You are expected to forget what british did to india just as you expect Sikhs to forget what u Hindus did to them.

  • What about what the british did to sikhs

and what about the mullahs did to sikhs

and what aboutthe mullahs did to hindus

  • WOW, Sikhs were such a huge part of the british empire. I heard that they were the most fierce of britians armies. Wait I did not hear that, I read that from British newspapers, calling sikhs lions, wow what a religion I belong to

  • AAb samja punjabi hone ka matlab..jai hind

  • great respect to the sikhs who fought in both world wars ,they arnt taken for granted

  • I appreciatet he Sikhs. They are noble people who have helped Britain for quite some time now. Have much respect for them, sicne they abide by our laws in Britain. Unlike the fucking Muslims. They kick and scream and whine and moan until they get there own way and everyone is either dead or a Muslim.

  • brilliant move on the part of the english, they only benefited by utilizing sikh troops...

    pretty manipulative too...

  • The removal of some comments is a reiteration of my resolve to weed out any comments that use religion, politics and more importantly, false ego of those who write them, as a basis of argument.

  • think british army joiningthe indian army now think the sikhs joining the br....

  • sikhz r no. 1 fighter in da world.. we r every were in each country's army....

  • straight up man we are the best and courages fighters in the world we fought for religion we fougth for our rights withouth that we would hav been no wher

  • Sikhs haven't just fought for their rights and religion but also for the rights and freedom of religious expression of other people.

  • @Jattpride1987 so true. thumps up for the Sikh(:

  • I have and will continue to remove and block users who post hate-invoking and religion-bashing comments on my video. Please try to understand the fact that this video WAS NOT compiled to prove that one people are better than any other, but to showcase a part in the history of the sikhs that is not often heard or talked about. Thanks.

  • jus goes to show what fine up-standing men the sikhs really are

  • all great men, to die fighting against facism

  • and when was this

  • ww1 n ww2

  • many people of india took part in the wars many hindu many sikhs and both gave their lifes and for that i am very thankful

  • old punjabi sikhs were very strong people phyically that is why the british picked the sikhs to be in the army....along with physical might they also had great valour and bravery

  • @steedan666 The Sikh people of new generation are also pretty strong.

  • great video ! 5*

  • And?

  • It would have been more fitting to show the regimental crests of:

    1) The Sikh Regiment

    2) Sikh Light Infantry Regiment

    3) Punjab Regiment

as these are the the main regiment which recruit Sikhs. If you want to you can also show regimental crests of:

    4) The Jatt Regiment

    5) J & K Rifles

    6) J & K Light Infantry

which also recruit Sikh but in smaller numbers

  • I will say this Sikhs are a honorable people. They believe in protecting the weak and those who are being oppressed. That has been their creed since the beginning of their people. For that I salute them.

  • thank you very much.. vry well said..

i think the whole country shud realise this nd stop cracking poor jokes on them..

  • When I was in the US army I had the pleasure of serving with some Sikhs who were on the same peace keeping mission. They where good soldiers and stellar friends. I'd serve with them again any time. I like their devotion to freedom and the fight for freedom and equality. I dont judge men by their race I judge them by their deeds.

  • I had a respect for you Regards

  • Thanks for sharing.

  • The Sikh Regiment is the most highly decorated regiment of the Indian Army,[1] with 73 Battle Honours, 14 Victoria Crosses,[2] 15 Theatre Honours and 5 COAS Unit Citations besides 2 Param Vir Chakras, 14 Maha Vir Chakras, 5 Kirti Chakras, 67 Vir Chakras and 1596 other gallantry awards.

    Thats fukin respect right their

  • Sikhs do not forget the land of Punjab was a diverse museum of races. Ancient cultures conquered by many armies from Cyrus of Persia, to Alexander the Great of Macedonia, to Genghis Khans Mongolian Empire to The Islamic Empire under Muhammad Bin Qasim following onto Mahmud of Ghazni (Afghan) Empire, Mogul kingdom to the Sikh kingdom under Ranjit Singh! Punjabis of all faiths have a common warrior ancestry regardless of which faith the come from!

  • very true.

  • WOW! GR8

  • Love the History - Dead Sikh and Hindu Indian Soldiers were cremated on the Downs South of Brighton (the memorial is known as the Chatteri)...about 45,000 to 65,000 Indian Soldiers sacrified their lives for other people's wars.....1.4 Million Indian served during the lst World War...

  • well we got gurkas so why not sikhs

  • still think there should be a sikh regiment in the british army

  • Indians fought for both sides during WWII in return for India's freedom of the British either leaving India or being forced out.

Commander Bose and his volunteers fought for the Axis.Gandhi supported the British and believed if India would be better off under British Rule than Nazi Germany. Majority of Indian Soldiers fought for the Allies. Commander Bose forced the British to Negotiate with Gandhi and the moderate Indians for support in return for British Exit our of India.

  • i think sikhs are the most honorable race great warriors. IM GLAD THERE PART OF INDIA.

  • Oh another point after they fought for Britain the wounded were given a Place in Brighton - where they were not really respected and were not allowed to go out into the British community.....

  • And guess what.. they fought proudly keeping their long hair and wearing their turbans....Sikhs are very respectable humble people living on the Word of God.....It is about time that they got respect back for who they really are... They are God loving people...,,,

  • Dude that's nothing, my Sikh mate was about to get mugged, he snapped the knife (o.k he gashed his hand in the process) and beat the crap out of the would be mugger. I would have loved to have been there just to see the look on his face.

  • For those people who think sikhs are pussies, try doing a beer run on one of their stores, my boss, a sikh got stabbed by the dude and still manged to beat the shit out of the guy.

  • Did you know that Hitler said if he had the Sikhs in his ranks, the world was his for the taking. Sikhs wouldn't have joined ranks we fight for freedom.

Glad to see positive comments from the british natives on here, we wont get it on the streets.

  • Its lame the way the majority of the British public are shaped by whatever lies the media tells us about immigrants, in the real world much of the western world relies on a large influx of migrants to do the jobs that they can't be arsed to do themselves. Gd video, i respect anyone who serves for our country, native or foreign!!

  • i have respect for the Sikhs in Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom and the rest of the commonwealth as they have always been and still are loyal to the Queen (or King) !!

    God Save the Queen !

  • they love there culture and they respect britian for respecting them and helping in the war .

  • thank you for this great service to our country

  • Long live the sikhs!!!

    from kerala

  • bloody good men

  • rulebritannia1, lol not Surprised to see you here, very good of you to say so old boy.

  • Jaan Jaye Taan Jaye, par Mera Sikhi Sidak Kaddi Na Jaye!!!

Jo Bole Sone'hal Sat Sri Akal!

Peace, Freedom to all is what we live by and we have died for. Sikhs fear nothing, no one, only Waheguru!

There is NOTHING parallel or even close to The Great Sacrifices by Sikhs! Where others died to save THEIR families, land, religion. We SIKHS fought and died for the rights of OTHERS to practice their faith and gave them the freedom to live as they wish!.

Victory To God! Love and Peace to All! SSA!
