  • I gave up doing Yang style long form as I had become tired of it - too long. Now I realise that this was probably because my mind was running ahead of the movements. In the meantime I have been doing Qigong - easier to learn & teach. This video is much shorter & would be a good exemplar for anyone. Those of limited flexability would have to amend or miss "snake creeps down". I recommend this highly because it incorporates all the essential elements of 3 parts of the Yang families long form..

  • Many thanks uploader, i wish i try it, but this stupid life wont alow me !

  • I try it myself, its difficult, but I can learn it, its a good way for spirit and body

  • WONDERFUL!!!! WHAT IS HER NAME?

  • So Graceful.

  • This is exactly like Waterbending! Go, Katara!!! LOL

  • i can see her nen

  • übertreib nicht ,nicht so schnell!

  • not exactly martial arts is it? not sure because i didnt finish it :|

  • @TheSteelKage It's martial arts - a ton of the moves in taiji are joint locks, strikes, throws... This form (one of manymany) consists of 24 poses that make up a kind of alphabet of moves. Most those moves have been internalized to the point where it doesn't look like fighting. One can fight with taiji, definitely better than someone who doesn't study martial arts, but it's quite often studied more for health and fitness than for aggression or self-defense (at least in the US).

  • @VelveteenSaint You seem to know something about it.

I heard that it is performed this slowly to really work the details of the movements and that if you were to use it in real combat, it's extremly deadly. Do you know anything about that?

  • @felixkjoller Yeah, totally. All forms of taiji are full of breaks, locks, etc... once you deeply understand the form, it's very easy to wrap yourself around an opponent and snap something important.

One saying goes that a one-year taiji student will lose most fights against other one-year fighters, but that a ten-year taiji student will win most fights against other ten-year fighters.

  • @felixkjoller yea tai chi may look slow and weird but its one hell of a work out on the body and yes its damn good in combat.

  • @ShredST, Thanks so much.

  • nyoren dulu :)

  • It has been suggested I study this in class because I am stiff w osteoarthritis and have poor balance. But after watching all her knee work, I can't imagine being able to do. Others with knee problems try? have advice? thanks.

  • @madagasarjoan You don't have to go nearly has low as she does.

  • @madagasarjoan There is a Tai Chi dvd which is focused more on those who have arthritis which is said to be good. I have trouble with my knees and I have found that tai chi does help with the problems, just make sure you go as far as you can go :)

  • is this yang style? or chen, or wu or hao, what is it?

  • @tanjavioline Beiging modified

  • @tanjavioline

she is doing the 24 forms here. Which is actually a Yang style.. all of it is. It is not a mixture of styles. Gao Jiamin happens to be among the cream of the top of people who can do this form correctly. I have seen this form done differently and it looks horrendous.

Hope you get a good teacher. good luck!

  • perfect form

  • Martial Art???

  • @hotstepper1976 Yes this art looks weak and slow but believe me anyone with the knowledge of the art can hurt anyone easily let alone kill you with a strike. The art form pays close attention to detail of the human anatomy and the control of blood in the human body as well as pressure points. Do not underestimate this beautiful and at the same time deadly art form of martial art. Peace

  • i cant but i want to learn how to bend the water what should i do??????????????????

  • And indeed, if you compare her moves to the champion's, the lady here is much more gracious...

  • I love tai-chi, i love the chinese culture and i happened to love the track too... Does anyone know what is the title and where can i find it?

    Thank you in advance

  • holy moly, she is perfectly elegant. very nice form. ty for bringing ur beautiful style to this wonderful practice.

  • Last year, I saw some tai chi videos that had the name of each form in subtitles (needle at the bottom of the ocean, repulse the monkey). I didn't bookmark those and can't find them now. Anyone know which tai chi vids had those?

  • Tai Chi is physical meditation. She doesn't remember half the training she does I bet. I zone out hard when I do 24 form because I'm so into the fluidity. People make fun of it because it brags chi development, and say that it would never work on them. I laugh because I guarantee the combat application is 100% unpredictable when its up in your face coming from someone 12" off the ground moving at goku speed. Get money.

  • i'll try this as soon as i can

  • This is crazy, I just learned Yang 24 and then I watched this, and it was performed perfectly...

    she is beautiful.

  • @Ninshark i agree about her and tai chi i was taught it a long time ago a beautiful martial art

  • Whenever someone says "practice makes perfect" I think of this video

  • Looks so easy, but sooooooooooooooooo difficult. If interested, we could go to Maymont in the Spring and give it a try. Wilson offers free classes there each Saturday morning. A wonderful meditation. Kisses

  • @roberta1213 it's not easy to master (and i don't even talk about precision) but it really worth it and must be practised everyday. If you can practice locally, do it. I use myself a video from Tai Chi 24 forms from Dr Paul Lam, very detailed one.

Anyway patience is the key :)

  • just watching her made me so very relaxed, even though there is no way in the world i could do anything she does............. she makes it look effortless...................thank you so very much

  • Her knees are bent the whole time imagine how much strength she has to keep in those posistions for that long

  • @Althorn100 Yes it really reinforces your legs and your knee joints without violence (not talking about the rest of the body), great technique!

  • Look at the balance.

  • She moves so fluidly with so much control. I am in awe.

  • i came

  • fapfapfapfapfapfapfapfapfapfapfapfapfapfapfapfapfapfapfapfapfapfapfap

  • But the thing is @billboerickeable, is that when I listen to any of these instruments itself, I wonder how it makes those long and graceful notes. Do you mind telling me a bit more???

    PLZ ANSWER QUICKLY!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • THANKS A LOT!!!!!!!!!! JUST IN TIME BEFORE MY PROJECT IS DUE!!!!!! THANKS SOOOO MUCH!!

  • @AndrewLuc1 Sorry it took to long to get back. The Erhu is played with a bow on two strings like a violin so it can make a continuous note without stopping. I'm sure you can find lots of samples on youtube but one of the great players in the world, Mei Xuan, tours with Shen Yun Performing Arts. You should check them out if you get a chance. I think they just use really fast fingers to get the seemingly continuous sound out of the Pipa.

  • no this is what water bending is based off. and yeah @stuntpeanut, i know its not actually water bending. obviously.

  • whaou tout simplement whaou de la grace de la beautée je suis rester tout.... whaou j ador merci

  • Why doesn't she ever do the sword block in the sky? I think she's missing a step.

  • Perfect, very good and gracefully done.

  • EARTH BENDING!?

  • I REALLY WANT TO KNOW WHAT INSTRUMENTS ARE USED FOR THIS!!!!!!! SOMEBODY PLZ PLZ PLZ PLZ TELL ME.

  • @AndrewLuc1 Sounds to me like main instruments are the Erhu (4 thousand year old two stringed violin) and the Pipa (sort of like lute). There are a couple others - maybe a woodwind or flute of some sort that I can't recognize.

  • 82 people will get pulverised of the powers and energy of tai chi

  • There are many techniques demonstrated for self defense in this pattern it is up to you to find them out....

  • @broomeboy33 Actually every piece of this form is in someway a self defense technique. Even the slowest of motions here are usually deadly. Snake creeps down (When she turns her back, her wrist comes to her side, then she pushes it up, as well as the opposite leg.) is actually a very deadly move.

  • turn out the volume on this video, make it play with Flow Like Water, awesome!

  • Graceful!

  • Amazing n beautiful love it. :)

  • Wow. Amazing. Perfect.

  • Seek the straght through curves. This is the golden rule of taichi and her grace lies in the circular moment of which she is always the center. She is one of the best I have seen! Just magnificent!

  • what's the point of this moves dudes,i am boxing but i am also an open minded,so i would like to know something about this "martial art" what's up with it?

  • @noobsmoke1993 Here is the point: as a boxer you throw a punch, the tai chi guy leans back as you extend your arm; with one hand against your wrist he uses his other hand to hit your elbow and breaks your arm; for good measure and at the same time he kicks down on your knee and breaks your limb.

  • @chaguanas pretty intersting, but isn't the punch of a medium boxer like me (3 years) too fast to go and to fast to get back to be able the Tai chi guy get this moves?

  • @noobsmoke1993 What you are looking at is traditional forms and today most people do for health benefits. A fighter would not be so formal, or so slow. The difference between tai chi (or martial arts) is a boxing match may go 12 rounds, a tai chi fighter aims to end the fight with a single blow and tries to maim or kill. Sorry to be so graphic, it is not something one brags about, but I am trying to explain the theory behind what you are seeing.

  • @noobsmoke1993 It takes far more strength and skill to be able to do these moves slowly than fast. So practicing slow and then speeding up, as one would do with playing an instrument, would give you a better skill foundation than trying to start fast. Or at least that is how I see it. Try any one of these moves at this speed and you would likely fall on your ass.

  • @noobsmoke1993 The purpose of Tai Chi being practiced at such a slow speed is to infuse every sinuous strand of muscle with the motion so that when it comes time to preform the sequence at speed it will be done with such alacrity that a 3 year or even 40 year boxer would have no chance of defending. Even if you were able to bring up a rudimentary guard in time the impact would use both their momentum and your own potential energy to floor you.

  • @noobsmoke1993 Tai Chi is considered an internal martial art. It's as much of the mind as it is the movement. These look like flowery moves in slow motion, but, sped up and done with force, can be extremely useful in fighting. What looks like flowing hands in front of the face (at 2:25) are actually effective blocking motions. What looks like someone essentially holding a guitar (at 0:19) is a block/strike to the throat. Look up Tai Chi fighting. Worth your while!

  • Anyone know where she teaches?

  • i wish i was this good at tai chi...... i just dont have the patience for it

  • I have just started to learn this.Excellent teacher for me on you tube for revision.

  • mmm that crouch part was sexy

  • this is for that fat mogg geister. i could see that mogg busten this when no one is watchin.

  • She learned awesome .. becoz i am also practicing this kind of methods..the lovely thing is ....she had a thought of spreading the methods or teaching this through videos and utilized the internet very good .. Great Job... from this moment i am a fan of Sifu Gao Jiamin

  • wow I did not know she was prestigious. Knew nothing of her credentials or whom she was but saw this, liked it and kept saying "wow that's cool; she's cool" throughout the entire vid. It seemed like a long 4:38 but I really like that. I was into running for awhile and during the vid a runner goes by in the background. Totally uninteresting compared to the tai chi. I just through out a tai chi book I had for years but never read, but then realized I'd like to learn more. good times.

  • check this website taichiseasons to learn Tai chi at your own pace

  • she is good

  • elemental shaman

  • @aikidofanatic123 you will have to lose weight with your physical strength ant workouts. And yes, those tai chi exercises will help you to improve your chi energy, gather it into one part of your body, or another. You will be able to do that faster. You will also be able to concentrate on something more easily.

  • WOW Tai Chi looks really cool! I wonder what its relation is to Kung Fu because I really love Kung Fu movies. I just saw one called “Films of Fury” which just came out on demand and it had some of the best action sequences I’ve ever seen!

    bitly .com/uBGPir

  • @mustlovecinema a lot of what you see in chinese movies are just the taichi moves sped up. There are a lot more forms than just 24.

  • Thank you Sifu im still stretching in Toledo

  • Lo consiglio, provatelo con un buon maestro

  • I learned the forms but I can't do them like that ):

  • ← ↓ → hp

    thats how she dose this

  • I did this form my last year at university...but my friends and I could never make it look quite that graceful. I've forgotten most of it, but this video makes me want to attempt it again!

  • my tai chi 24 form has no freakn grace!! jeezus! seeing this makes me feel like a stick horse versus water

  • that is so freaking difficult...

  • That is absolutely breathtaking. She is beautiful and she does the form beautifully. I wish I could do it like that.

  • Not as cool as karate, but... what you gonna expect

  • @kulkille100 cool? tai chi is about cultivating energy and karate is about showing strength

yay for college tai chi class!

Its a groin attack x__x just so you know

  • water....earth...fire..air..

  • @kyorgadorgen HEART! Gooooo PLANET!

  • @kyorgadorgen This isn't avatar, Lol. Taichi is about being AS graceful as water, constantly moving and never becoming stale. Other than that though, it's about internal regeneration of your health, usually only for old people. There's no correlation between tai chi and the four elements, although you are taught to respect them.

  • @kyorgadorgen The Avatar : Elements Bender !

  • water bending

  • @JAYIZCHILL

Katara looks good in pink, no ?

  • I'd let her use Tai Chi on me any-day.

  • This is Sifu Gao Jiamin. Here she demonstrates the Yang Form - Bejing Style. She is the epitome of grace, style and modesty. 1990s world champion, winner of 32 gold medals. Lovingly referred to as the Queen of Tai Chi. Her combat techniques are exceeded only by her charm, wit, warmth and generosity.

  • @wisewoof Combat?! :P

  • @DamonArizona Tai Chi uses combat techniques, they are just slowed down and performed on air :3 I was surprised too when my teacher first showed us what we could use each position for xD

  • @wisewoof she seems like the rl version of something out of crouching tiger hidden dragon.

  • @wisewoof I think she works in the chppy by ares

  • @wisewoof Oh, I see now. Yeah, she does it a bit different than us, mostly just that it seems like she's missing a step. The one right after you lock your arm and pull them down, deep sea needle.

  • thats the asian style of dancing .. always fight!

  • I'm fucking jealous this lady is a snake !!

  • To me the Arts have nothing to do with fighting an opponent. It merely is a benefit as a defense. To me this represents harmony. There is so much more to this in my opinion than self defense or as a fighting art. I have yet to meet anyone nor have I tried to meet anyone who share's my opinion about the Arts and all I can think about lately is why I haven't moved to where those people are, because I feel that they are out there. This video is beautiful. Anyone who comments negative is closed

  • @weaverzinc I am moved to comment on your statements. You may have to search for a while, but believe me, there are like-minded people everywhere. Perhaps you have to open yourself up by searching out classes/instructors of various styles who share your philosophy. I've been in this game for almost 50 years, and have had to sort through a lot of trash to find the treasures that are always there. The internet makes our search much easier. Good luck! email me if questions: spiritualma@gmail.com

  • Very nice but the move is a bit too fast for Taichi, isn't it? Still is a beautiful demonstration. Thank you for sharing. :)

  • youtube*com/watch?v=-Ch_Uj-1Lss&feature=related All forms of Martial art what China got is from India.. read about bodhidarma ..also Circling in Bagua in relation to India arts.. Marma yoga vs accupressure vs accupuncture.. years past, hard to track it back

  • So divine and so attuned with nature!

    It is a poetry in motion;

    meditation in movement!

    -Yozen Balki

    Chennai/South India.

  • I LOVE Taichi by the way, I just don't view it as being combat practical anymore because the motions train body strength and balance as opposed to speed, pain resistance, and combative striking. It is wonderful for health, and don't decline to do it just because I say it doesn't help in the streets. The truth is 98-99% of what a martial arts school will teach you can't help you in the street because there are no rules and the enemies don't fight like martial artists most of the time.

  • @Minatour94 funny thing is if you open your mind to the energy involved you will then be able to gracefully and with ease conquer any challenge. Some lack the sense of clairvoyance and synchronicity associated with the arts. A street fight is brought about by lack of control, so anyone who get's into a street fight certainly lacks the control of self to easily avoid it. There's not enough room on this comment board to go into the finite details. Openyour mindto the impossible, n it will b

  • I just returned from studying Wushu in Beijing. The members of the Beijing Wushu A-Team train competition-style Wushu as opposed to combat Wushu, but I'm still sure they know best. They don't view Taichi as a fighting style, but as a way of controlling one's body. They all agree that advanced taichi takes more strength than any other wushu forms, but for you youtube commentors who think that you're being unique and understanding by saying Taichi is amazing for combat, it's time to be quiet.

  • Wowwwwwww!!! i cant understand any word of this video huuuuu

  • not good..very fast

  • pi nio to he 48

  • she did it so beautifully. =)

  • Amazingly Smooth , flexibility exceptional... And she is beautiful to watch ...

  • @guitarguy1751 sooo happy im not the only one that knows that lol

  • @hidan227 im a super fan of Avatar: The Last Airbender. lol

  • The grandmasters of tai chi can send out healing and those watching will benefit from the healing. For those who wish healing I suggest you search dragondragonfung and look for a video with an elderly man dressed in white. This is Fu Zhong Wen a grandmaster. You will receive very strong healing Chi just by watching. He has given us a great gift. Thank you dragondragon for uploading this video. Megweech.

  • Maybe this isn't supposed to be a dance, but it is the most beautiful dance I have ever seen. =)

  • she is great and performing in detail both forms 1 and 2

  • She is very god.

  • Nicely done, though the body still appears slightly too tight/stiff. Regardless, still a very nicely done set with a good sense of mechanics, well done.

  • what's the difference of this and yoga?

  • @TheBlockTVinc Some differences between this and yoga: Yoga comes from India, Tai Chi from China. Yoga comes from the Hindu tradition, Tai Chi from the Taoist tradition. Tai Chi lacks mat work, lying down on the floor. Most importantly (in my opinion) Yoga focuses more on the positions and Tai Chi focuses more on the transitions between positions. That said, they are both great exercises for health. (but Tai Chi is my favorite)

  • mire jó a tajcsi......nem tom

  • Strong legs

  • That's some smooth movement.. !

  • Question: Are you supposed to bend your knees over the level of your foot? Cos I learned I shall not bend my knees over that level.

  • @diavarezable Just not to much over your foot. And not for to long. I'm not an expert but that's just my experience.. If you look at other videos, even the masters do it a little.. : )

  • @diavarezable .. you have learned correctly. Bend your knee only as far as you can and should not bend past your foot, because if you do, you are losing your element of balance. You should be able to see your toe past your knee. I'm not an expert but that's what I have read and observed.

  • good!

  • what does tai chi do to your body

  • @tatoearashiga I'm not sure. As far as i know, is about knowing body's balance and strength control.

  • Quite simply, excellent!

  • the feeling that she is about to descend upadet.no not .. on what it is.?

  • i aspire to be this good

  • @kridequi shhhhhhh. you're missing the point.

  • beautiful art!

  • now she's good enough to try for America's best dance crew.

  • cooool

  • woah. that's genius.

  • health is wellness. il be a master of this soon..!!!

  • This lady is moving so gracefully and elegant it is poetry in motion ,one might forget that she kicked the asses out of atleast half a dozen oppponents, it is really beautiful!!!!! would love to see her live in action preforming this!..

  • @BurningWicky1 She hasnt, or wont, kick the ass of anybody's with 'tai chi', its for exercise and that alone. Stop buying into it because its foreign and 'new' to you, a boxer would take down anyone who practices tai chi in an instance, no matter how many kung fu films youve seen that would have you believe otherwise, just look at mma for proof. Thats not to say asia has not produced one of the most useful forms of martial arts in history, judo/jjj.

  • @ccfcobro mma proof? tai ji will help you connect to the life instinct and the chi, which will kick in, in a real fight, live or die situation, the body will do the necessary to overcome the aggression, and this cannot be practised or seen in competitions, of any kind, and so , she wont prove it to you, but if needed....

  • @kiridequi you know why it isnt seen in competitions? Because it doesn't work. Otherwise, fighters combating in mma events, with the chance of winning MILLIONS worth of dollars, would be using it, its the same as akido, it looks good, but has no substance in real
