Nans, very nice.this is oneof the wise man that we as young people can actually learn a lot from .whenever i listen to this song it just gives me hope in my marriage, that whatever problems one might have can be solved if we put our minds into it and respect and trust each other.
@ Fresh thnx, wl try nd do that but eish l'll have to broaden my search coz these legends are hard to come by these days ( Stimela, Sipho hotsticks Mabuse, Sankomota, Pet Shange etc) you know thiz SA golden oldies are so good and very good i mean!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love this man, I am looking for his song Ziph' nkomo, on itunes I could only find Hugh Masekela's instrumental version. Any help is most appreciated
Send me your e-mail, will see if I cant interpret it for you. I don't promise to do it over night though, it really will depend on my schedule. But I promise to do it for you...He is a legend in the making, a very humble man trust me.
Mematswale his mother-in-law. He's begging her to talk to her daughter because his marriage is falling apart. "People quarrell and fight, but then they eventually forgive each other"(2:30-2:39) Chorus says "yo yo yo yo, my marriage is in trouble/ is falling part"
Apparently the Rotse or Lozi of western Zambia also refer to a Star as Naledi. Though their spelling of the word is different. It is spelt Naleli while Dikomo is spelt Likomu and Lerato is spelt Lilato. Interesting is'nt it?
Sebetwane ... fled South Africa during the Mfecane and settled in the present day Lozi land this was back in 1822, those people were Tswana speakers, but of course along the way the language diluted because of an assimilation of tribes along that journey that took over 10 years to flee from the wrath of the emperor Shaka Zulu ...
Most of these languages in Southern Africa fall under the Bantu tribe, which is why they are similar. Luganda and others from the other side of Africa fall under the same category...
I used to listen to this track back in the day tiri kuHre paRadio 2. Matswale is the Tswana name for mother in-law a.k.a ambuya. It bring bank the memories when Zim was still ok. When we used to buy a coke for 35cents, when local busfare was 20cents and the days when " buy 3 sweets and get one for free was still available" aka mbasera. God will see Zim thru again.
