  • where can i place translation for part one?

  • Thats a video of me checking up my airplane before a mission...

    In Il2 Sturmovik...

    (very very nice vids, ty)

  • Same conditions the US had with the B-24 squadrons in Alaska.

  • Damn, that gunner's position must have been one cold mother of a place.

  • @Dmitriy27 I'd worry mostly about the tanks ahead of the cockpit! Unless I was an Il-2 gunner! The flames come right back onto the pilot. It's hard to make room for fuel in a fighter sized plane; wing tanks are vulnerable, rear tanks screw with handling, etc Hurricane, Zero, Corsair, those all had forward tanks. A fighter relies on it's nimble handling to avoid large hits, the Il-2 had armor. The original had the rear tank behind the gunner, which helped. The actual one was a lash up

  • @Fricet And what are you doing? Insulting people from behind your computer. At least he's saying something worthwhile for the benefit of those who don't know. And for that matter, everything he said was true. What good are you doing? Those who invented the internet thought it would be a way for all people the be educated equally. Too bad they didn't foresee what would actually happen. Kind of like those who invented the television.

  • @Dustoffam That's not true, Hawker Tempests shot down Me 262's as well. Maybe others, I don't recall.

  • I wish I spoke Russian! Anyone know what the "1" and "2" levers on the column are for? I assume the ones marked "1-4" on the right of the cockpit are for the 4 individual bomb bays, so are the 1 and 2 for firing rockets left and right? Or is one for single shot, 2 for salvo? I think the two buttons are for cannon and ShKAS. How about the wire going into the fuselage...engine oil heater? I've heard of rescued pilots lashing themselves to the landing gear, but I can't see how!

  • @MrRrien1988 where did you get that info lol there was not that many aircraft in the east lol 7800 il pilots lol jeez

  • @flossy26 What are you talking about? You think they made 36,000 Il-2's for the hell of it? You think they were flying 30,000 of them at once? No, they made that many to replace those that crashed, and the only reason it was ONLY 7,800 Il-2 pilots lost is that it was a safe plane (for the pilot). The gunners died at ten times the rate. Figure that out. Maybe you were unaware that in the east, war was friggin WAR, and the front was much, much longer. They meant business.

  • на крыле без мата не работать!

  • Nice movie except right in the beginning the Soviet pilot violates one of the most fundamental rules of touching aircraft.

Never, ever put your hand on the propeller blades and move them "to see if the prop turns".

If the starter switch in the cockpit has been left in the ON there is a chance the motion of turning the propeller will cause the cylinders to fire.

  • @monsterzeroJr lol vrooooom no more hands

  • @monsterzeroJr he has to make sure it hadn't been hit by bullets or shrapnel

  • 7800 Il-2 pilots were lost during the war, along with over 27000 aircraft lost ... some pilots had over 80-100 combat flights during the war ... if for fighter pilots like Pokryshkin, who had over 600 flights total, but only 150 of them included dogfights. While for a IL2 - EVERY flight meant fighting, using all the ammunition

  • @capitanTyTy I think that you should learn more history too. But I don't blame you. Your history books are still very different than western history books. In my neighborhood lives many russians and they are little confused when they read some other history studies on the same happenings.

  • Quite large for a single engined aircraft. The Russians built a Warthog long before we did!

  • @schlusselmensch Hey, they even both have armor and exposed landing gear in case of gears up landings, as well as tank killing cannon. I think it's not an exaggeration to say that the A-10 is a direct descendant of the Il-2. As far as I know it was the first dedicated, armored attack aircraft that was made with tank killing as at least a major intention from day one. The Germans tried to come up with one, and failed. So they settled on an armored Fw 190. Not even close.

  • Очень ценная запись

  • Eu ja Pilotei esse avião no IL2 Sturmovik é muito bom esse avião é muito agiu e rápido vele apena jogar IL2 Sturmovik pois é muito bom

  • you gotta admire the russians for the cheapest and most reliable pieces of weaponry ever constructed!

  • Muncul juga nich orang...hufft harus bisa ngelesnya

  • Super instrukcja przed startowa.

  • Does anyone have Hitler's cell number? My plane is stuck in ze snow.

  • der direkte nachfolger der il2 ist die su 25 in der moderne.

  • the flying tank is what the german troops refered this aircraft as, very difacult to shoot down, German pilots usually attacked these air craft from under and below , hopeing to shoot out its radiator.

  • I figured that the Il-2 needed much less preparation than represented in this video. I had thought anything that the Russians made would be simple and made for quick response.

  • @braidonb Of course, it did not need as much preparation. However, during the war, pilot had to inspect his plane after every flight. as shown here, (and there could be up to 10 or more combat flights per day). Since they were flying low, and had good armor, they recieved numerous hits every flight. All the systems had to be tested before you fly off, or you're risking your life.

  • @MrRein1988 All pilots needed to check their aircraft before any flight, or they did if they were smart. It didn't matter if it had been shot at or not, it was just wise, and a good habit to get into. Plus, they shared planes, and who knew what the last guy had done to it, or if it had been frozen by the cold. Bad to realize that your elevator is jammed on take off!

  • @braidonb Would it need to be off the ground in minutes? It wasn't an interceptor; the missions were usually scheduled. And most planes, of all nations had similar, sometimes longer procedures for starting. Maybe you'd keep a few pilots at ready, engines warmed up. If you think about it, the stuff he did in this video could be done in 4 minutes or less, especially if you had an assistant. The longest part would be getting on your chute and letting the engine warm up if it was cold.

  • @Fricet, facinated in ww2 airacrft since i was able to walk. i never said i had flown them, i just think that the sturmovik was the greatest ground attack aircraft of the patriotic war. if you study the german aces such as Barkhorn and Hartmann etc, in their reports they mention numerous times that the Il-2 was incredibly hard to bring down, and was feared by German soldiers etc. plus, it was incredibly effective and efficient, aka, the best ground atack in ww2

  • @Fricet try studying the subject for over a decade

  • Brutal conditions, must have been cold once they got airborne.

  • All the Germans who criticize the IL-2 Ask a question in their grandfathers and great grandfathers who with IL-2 experienced on the battlefield as they nicknamed him "They'll tell you "black death".

  • Класс уникальное видео инструкция по подготовке и запуску самолёта перед полётом.

  • Joseph Stalin quote "Quantity has a Quality all of it's own"

  • muito bom

  • Why dont you learn russian? It is usefull :)

  • Useful, but difficult...

  • Not so hard. Japanese is much harder to learn ;)

  • @nukeman74 Sono koto nai dayo

  • Does anyone know of any famous or successful Ilyushin Shturmovik pilots? There had to be considering the casualties it inflicted on German ground positions.

  • um not sure weather this pilot flyed a sturmovic, (My grand grand dad did) but his name is Marasyev, he was shot down in the winter but survived he prowned do partezans after the crash. And he froze off his legs because he couldnt find partezans for a while. He got his legs amputated but continued to fly after thet with sticks instead of legs.

  • His name was Maresyev and he was a fighter pilot.

  • They mention some famous IL-2 pilots on the wikipedia article for the Sturmovik.

  • Btw, Dustoffam - a certain La-7 pilot got one, 19th February 1945. Sorry : )

  • Great aircraft, brave men and women. Guaranteed -the modern ShADs with their Su-25/39s are very proud of their traditions and history. As they should be. Great video -thanks for posting it.

  • Actually, the Soviets possessed some of the best mission-specific aircraft of WWII. The IL-2 was certainly one of the best infantry-support ground attack aircraft ever (and the most prolific), while the La-7s and Yak-3s and 9Us were actually better in many respects to their German counterparts. The Bf-109s were excellent machines but had become obsolete by the time the G models were being built, while the FW-190 was superb, but it was heavy, and there were never enough of them.

  • I p-52 is quite good isn`t it. well at leat it works pretty good on IL2-sturmovik

  • because war history is told by the ones who won, so i think it's not fair to talk that all germans where monsters in battle or with their prisoners because the soviets and the americans did the same or even worse. despite of all that german planes where still the best and no soviet or american trash could even face a chance

  • That's not true. Some German machinery was obsolete at certain points of the war.

  • couldn't live longer than adolf hitler, if he died you go with him. And hitler got the strings of the country with pacience and time, germany was destroyed after ww1, he rebuilded the economy, built schools , created activities and schoolarship for all german kids and then slowly as all germany was pleased of him he began to show his real face, then as you should know it was fight for your country or die as a traitor.Don't forget that the bad ones and the criminals are allways the ones who loose

  • Not all germans were nazis...they just defended their country for sick ideals from sick people, almost all german people didn't know what happened with the jews and if you want to learn a little bit of history just see the movie Nürenberg trials where everything is explained and every dialogue is just as it was recorded, no hollywood shit like tom cruise. Only the waffen SS followed the sick ideals of pure race and shit, as you should know one of the points of being in the waffen ss is that you

  • Rockets, 23mm Cannons, 7.62mm Machineguns, 50-250kg Bombs, Light AP(Armor Piercing) Bombs in interior bomb bays.

It had a quite a Modern Arsenal. When used correctly they could wipe out whole Battalions of Enemy soldiers in 1 day.

Unfortunately further development was stopped around 1956, people like Khruschev believed Missiles were the future. And the Soviet Air Force had to use modified MiG-15's for almost a decade until enough Su-7 Fighter Bombers were built.

  • Sturmovik was faster and more armored than Stuka, so I think it's a bit better.

  • Il-2 was destroying German tanks way before Americans even came into the war dumbass.

  • The IL2 went from 20-23-37mm cannons and with a airframe with 1540lbs of 1/4 to 1/2 inch steel plate to protect the engine and pilot ,it was protected from ground fire and with its cluster bombs -it was a deadly plane ----I would rather fly it than a plywood Brit plane or a P47 with 8/ 50cal, that flew like a brick with a huge motor hung on the front of it,a often overlooked American plane was the Brewster Buffalo----the American plane with the highest kills from one pilot of WWII !!!

  • I remember reading a book about aircraft drawings and manuals from WW2 nations. This Sturmovik procedure was copied exactly from the IL-2 manual. As it should be.

  • which procedure?

  • The Western part of WW2 was much less brutal, and much less matched, (for want of a better word.) In the East, fighting was far more brutal. Inthe relatively calmer skies over Europe, where, by mid 1943 the allies held sway, many ground targets were poorly defended, and, the skies were usually clear, as the Luftwaffe was concentrating on the CBO. The Il-2 operated in much harsher conditions, right at the front, flying in rougher weather and terrain, and against harder opposition.

  • plus, the IL-2 was a purebreed ground attack a/c, the P-47,P-38 etc were modified to operate in relatively safer skies with fighter support. the Il-2 was sent in usually on its own or with limited fighter support, in skies where the luftwaffe fielded its top scorers. the P-39 as a ground attack aircraft is a misused fact. Pokryshkin and Reckolev all said it was a fighter through and through, not a ground attack at all, and rarely if not ever used by the VVS for ground attack.

  • HAHAHA still funny to see bitter ppl say " if this happened, if that happened" about ww2...guess what...GERMANY LOST THE WAR..and the il-2 contributed to that....now- what your saying is il-2 is such a piece of crap and yet still germans got their asses handed to them..makes you think about how "great" the german army was...no matter what excuse you come up with to belittle the il-2, YOU KRAUTS LOST

  • The Il-2 was the best ground attack aircraft in ww2, full stop. the stuka was underarmed and underarmoured compared to the Il-2. The stuka could be brought down quite easily by fighters, yet the Il-2 had only two weak spots, the radiater opening underneath, and the rear gunners seat/area when this was fitted.

There are many accounts by German aces such as the No1, Erich Hartmann, where saw most of his bullets deflect off the shturmovik...the Il-2 was more suited to opposed war then the ju87...

  • С-П-А-С-И-Б-О! 5 из 5! мой любимый самолёт "летающий танк"

  • Wow... nice post!

Am doing a lot of flying in "IL2 Sturmovik", flying this lovely plane almost every day...

no, ya ne ponimoio poruski horosho...

So, it's too bad wasn't subtitled... But got some of the technical words as they comically are almost the same except with a "-y" / "-a" at the end... (like "Pneumatik-y","Motor-a", "Pedal-y", "Normal-ny" ^ ^ )

    Thanks for posting! :)

  • That wasn't neccesarily germans you ignorant fuck, that was Nazis, Not all Nazis were German and not all German were nazis, so stfu and get a life you dumb bear.

  • less rude language... but it is true. Not all germans were Nazis. And if it werent for the failure of Democracy in germany before hitler, NOBODY would have overthrown the government.... you have to understand the circumstances. Now the Nazis, them i hate.

  • great movie thanks!

  • Go english wikipedia and search soviet partisans at start. Official history of the USSR refuse attacks on civilian targets, but it is not very reliable source, right? in past decades many russians are written books about that, but i don't understand russian so i can't comment them. In finnish you can find many studies about the partisans. Finns records counts 45 attacks on civilian targets 41-44. Truth may be a little different than official history of rgeat patriotic war. Use google.

  • So, Mr Russian Bolshevik. Soviet partisans attacked in FINLAND to many villages behind the lines, in Finnish territory. Villages was burned and womens and children were murdered and raiped. No military targets in the villages. Great Patriotic war; "just following orders" right? Following orders and shot finnish pilot to parachute, right? Luckily, not very often because vvs get so few victories from finnish pilots. Germans made horrible things in ww2, but russians were AT LEAST equal, right?

  • Hey, jussi, you are the moral ugly creature! Finnish armies blocked Leningrad where 1000000 people died because of famine . And do you tell about cruelty of Russian? Fucking shit! In WWII Finn = German. It is right, Mr Finnish Fashist!

  • my last comment for only a begining song

  • it's not realistc this is like a nazi propaganda films İl 2 guner chosen for prisoners. Because a lot of guner dead.

  • нажми кнопку вибратора

  • @chomik86 yep man we russians and germans are great warriors. You right.

  • it was fucking hard to fly, fight and survive on those evil flying mashine. Especially on their early models single pilots...

They germans were fucking deadly at the moment.

    BUT we won!

We did it. And I proud of out fathers!

  • that engine sounds like my lawn mower haha

and i have no idea how those russian pilots could fly at altitude in a climate like that. and id be surprised if none of the gunners died from being exposed to the air like that

  • lol

  • @nemesixsixsix They didn't fly "at altitude". They rarely went over 10,000ft, usually less. Plus, Russians know the cold. The germans were the ones dying and being crippled by the thousands by it.

  • over 36000 built, the most produced military plane in history, and not one flying. On the other hand,15000 p-51s and hundreds still flying like new. A great shame I think.

  • @RomanatorII You may know this by now, but apparently someone found and restored an Il-2 to flying condition. I was looking for video when I found this one, actually. It was found crashed in a marsh in Russia, and the only non- accurate part is that they had to use an American Allison engine, since they couldn't find a working Mikyulan. Still, it IS a shame. There should be a minimum of ten remaning, flyable planes of EVERY semi-major WWII plane, no matter the nationality!

  • Thank you, I love this old footage.

  • It was a tank then, it's probably still one now.

  • best ww2 plane

  • im glad i understand russian.. thank you very much very much for posting this!!

  • its russian i dont understand it except the word Kurva^^

  • kurva is not really a russian word, it is polish ;)

  • yes but that word is used in many languages

  • Great! Thanx for posting.

  • subtitles would be a good idea
