oooffff courrrseee.... AAllllll asians...e, alu i' lou moku o saina ma nofo i fa'amolemole....plzzzzzz.... quit tryn to be polynesian....just bcuz ur dad, grndpa, mom, wuhtever was born in kahuukilaulua dnt mean u polynesian ATallll!!!
@jlmalae1 ~ woah that's cold... u don't kno that about these gurlz ... and jus becuz yur dark-skin --doesn't mean Samoans can steal the "Black-American Culture" ~ ya'll stole yur singing style from African Americans - so don't be talkn smack about who's "Tryin" to be be whut...
aiight wayne hudson...weol obviously u wouldnt noe how its like to wake up everyday hearing asians claim to be polynesian...yeah i noe... "you never noe if they could be..." yeah wuhtever but what im saying is that seeing this everyday does not make it easy to like asians, i try to but its hard...but yes ur right...nd im srry for pre judging...it was wrong for me to do that...
@jlmalae1 im asian lives in kauai understood everything u said and i dont claim im polynesian or anything. i even take hula to learn about the culture.
I am sorry if I'm displaying my ignorance. Educate me if I am. It seems that the dances usually mean something. What does this dance convey? If I'm wrong, please forgive me.
Check out Hawaiian Wedding Song Dance, The one with Andy Wiliams. The hula gestures are very charming and expressive to the familiar words of the song. Yes the movements are a language.
WayneHudson2000-don't confuse nationality with ethnicity. Those girls look like they are from an asian ethnic background. They don't look Hawaiian at all. Have you ever seen historical photographs of the ORIGINAL Hawaiians?
anyways, it doesn't matter what nationality or ethnicity these girls are, they did a good job.
Actually, many of them that are dancing at the Merrie Monarch are Hawaiians or mix of Hawaiian /Asian decent, they only allow native Hawaiians to compete, but for the most part, these girls were born and raised in Hawaii and learned how to dance at a young age, so although some of them may look Asian it is not at all surprising that they can dance so well. If you want to be surprised by Asians dancing the hula, the flight attendants of Japan Airlines formed a team and can dance very gracefully.
Maika'i no ... share the aloha with each step you take.. heal the aina with each dance free the spirit and preserve our culture of nature, peace and aloha.
i wish i could dance like that. my mom was a dancer (my aunty says she was one of the best in her day) and my aunty tina is a gorgeous dancer. why did the hawaiian skip me?? lol very lovely performance, tho.

LOL - These girls are NOT from "Asia", they're from North AMERICA... so they're "Americans" (even if some are Hawaiian, Hawaii is part of the U.S.)
