  • Where can i get those stems for à chinese scooter?

  • GREAT VIDEO and I got bit by same problem on a Roketa 250C I just bought a month ago on my rear tire valve stem. I bought @ Auto Zone both the TR413 0.453 1 1/4 inch valve stem and the TR415 0.625 replacement valve stems.

The 0.453 would not seat, you could pull and pull and it would not snap in place on the rim, seemed to small. The 0.625 was to big and would not pull thru the hole in the rim. Is there an in between size valve stem or am I doing something wrong??? Is there a diff size?

  • @Hammered30 I'm not exactly familiar with the Roketa rims, but a standard automotive size is the one you need, It won't be real easy to pull it in and you'll have to give it some effort. try a little soap like DAWN on it to make it easier to pull, you will need a wrench to snap it in or a valve stem puller tool

  • To lansdrymanvideos, you are dead wrong. My valve was cracked, leaking and pulled apart when I tugged on it to remove it. I have a 2008 scooter and the tires still have a lot of life to them....

  • Thanks for posting this. I had one of the cheap new stems start to leak through the cracking. I was getting ready to pull the back wheel to change it when I saw your video. It was much easier and just as effective. This is a great service to other scooter owners.

  • normally the factory ones can hold untill the next tire, so you basically do it with the new tire at once. So this is useless. I repair chinese scooters for a living.

  • @barthoedemaker You may want to ask the people below , "How useless." this video is. All personal experiences may vary for sure. Bottom line- The angle valve stems on the Chinese bikes are made of natural rubber (cheap) and not a synthetic composite which is sturdier, and they'll fail. I build (PDI) these bikes and I change them out before I give to a customer. 15 minutes is worth it and if you do in fact repair them, then why not offer the service. It is a safety issue -Period. Just my opinion

  • @lansdrymanvideos Okay, if that's your opinion. My opinion is that it can hold untill the next tire, the new tyre/rim from factory does not leak, so there's no need to touch the valve stem. Never had problems with it. And I'm mostly the only company that's working on chinese scooters here in the netherlands... bartsscooterservice.nl

  • @lansdrymanvideos Okay your opinion. My opinion is it will hold untill the next tire easily.

  • thanks much!! saved me time!!

  • What is the name of your valve stem?? Thanks in advance!

  • What is the name of your valve stem?? Thanks in advance!

  • Thanks so much for the how to video, I'll have my scooter back on the road in no time thanks to your effort!

  • Thanks for this...great video! Just got to do my valve stems shortly. Why do the chinese use substandard rubber products I wonder? The only rubber on my scooter that's any good are the tyres...just as well really lol

  • Where to buy high quality valve stems?

  • Okay - so front tire was a piece of cake. But the rear is a problem... First, couldn't get the rubber base of the valve out with the pliers... it fell apart (surprise) ---- and then I (foolishly) pushed it into the wheel. But the real problem is the c-clamps don't create enough room to even get close to the valve hole. Suggestions?

  • Thanks! Great video! I deeply appreciate all of you who take the time to create the how-to help!

  • @DougMathers Thank You and out of all the videos we put online; This is one that can save your life-- no joke. Every Chinese scooter or at least 90% of them, will have this issue and a blow out at ANY speed on a two wheeler is no fun.

  • Thank you for the helpful video. I just purchased two (2) Roketas yesterday. The rear valve stem blew out on one of them on my first ride. Fortunately, I was going quite slow.

Since it sounds like there is a repeating pattern of blowouts, I think I will replace front & rear valve stems on both scooters ASAP.

    Thanks again...tremendously helpful.

  • Thank you!!! Made it so easy!

  • AWESOME! thanks!

  • Great! Broke off a valve when I was trying to fill tire with air. I thought I would have to bring the scooter in to a dealer and spend more than a few $ to fix. Replaced both valves in less than half hour.

Just an additional note. When I went to fill one of the tires, the tire did not initially pop into its bead. I started the scooter and slowly rode it for 20 feet. The movement helped seat the bead and it filled right up. So far, no more low tires.

  • Great instructions, it just came off when i touched it and I had no idea what to do. Thanks!

  • THANK YOU for this video, i just did this to replace a broken valve stem on my front motorcycle tire that had a 110/80/17 tire on it. Worked perfect and got the job done in 10 mins!

  • @azndemon228 I guess I should have noted that this works on motorcycle tires too :)

  • I found the same problem in my Scooter. It is less than a year old, and started to loose air. One day when trying to inflate it, the stem just came off. THANKS for this video.

  • You use what's called a Schrader tool pronounced, "shray-der." They're available at any auto supply store, bicycle shop, hardware store, where-ever and only cost a few bucks. If you're only going to use it to deflate the tire, then you can pull the valve off with a pair of pliers quite easily since they "blow-up" anyway. If the bead of the tire fully separates, then you may need one anyway. Hope this helps--Jeff

  • How did you take out the core of that valve stem?

  • Comment removed

  • Wow...didn't know how bad this isssue was until I was going full throttle down a dual carriageway (1st time on a dual carriageway as well since I'm a new driver) then all of a sudden my back wheel went asll over the place!

Valve stem had popped off and all the air had immediately deflated.

At least its cheap to replace & easy to repair!

  • Great Video. I was actually able to squeeze the tire enough with my hands to get to the valve stem and remove it. As far as any tire issues. Mine did fall come off the bead but an easy fix was to put rope around the tire. tie a slip not and twist a metal pipe to tighten up the rope. Was able to pump the tire up and get it back on the bead in 30 seconds. Thanks again for the great video.

  • Hey mate, thanks for the tips regarding these valve stems. Yesterday I was doing 73mph (Full throttle) when my front tyre deflated in a matter of 2-3 seconds (Blowout) After spending some time looking for any puncture holes ect: I discovered it was my Valve stem that had completely snapped off. I inspected the rear tyre and discovered that it is very close to doing the same itself due to ''Cracked/Perishing''. I have just purchased 2 straight vales (Mine were both the 90 degree angle ones.

  • @larsagi2008 Fortunately I have two pergeot speedfighter wheels and used your tutorial to remove/swap both the stem valves into my GY6 until the new ones arrive. It really is an easy job and your tutorial is MUCH appreciated. I purchased my new stem valves for 49p each from Chinese motorcycle parts but with delivery it totalled about £5...

Also I wanted to add a tip to your video. Search E-Bay for ACF-50 its an anti rust formula which is also great for preventing rubber/plastic from perishing.

  • @larsagi2008 Glad you are OK!!!!, spread the word!!!!

  • @larsagi2008

    Exact same thing happened!

I think hitting full throttle was the thing that pushed it over the edge & made it come off.

    Luckily I didnt come off.

  • THANKS!

  • Yep, happened to me a couple days ago! I thought it was the back tire so I ordered 2 new ones. I get the tire off the rim and the stem is cracked bad! I got 2 new all metal ones coming. It cost me 10.03 with shipping at parts for scooters. The only bad thing is that I spent 53 and change on 2 new tires.

  • 2 words: nail clippers

  • IT worked for me to change the valve stem but instead I have a leakage between the tire and rim :(

    Why can that be?

  • Was it difficult to inflate the tire, seeing that it has no tube.

  • No it was easy since the rest of the bead did not separate. if the tire comes off the bead totally, then it may be a bit more time consuming.

  • I used regular valve stems for cars. DO NOT BUY ones with these numbers on the bottom of the valve as these are recalled. TR-413

    TR-413CH

    TR-414

    TR-415

    TR-418

    TR-423

I used TR-413EM style. Be aware that they should have a different lettering than "none" or CH as a secondary designator. Make sure they are EDPM "EM" and not real rubber. The real rubber ones are the ones recalled. I got a set of 4 at AutoZone for about 10 bucks.

Hope this helps & ask to look at the numbers first :)

  • What size valve stem do you use?

  • Thank you!

  • Yes, I have a 2007 Roketa and I was riding it on the highway going about 70mph. When all of a sudden my rear tire went flat and the back tire started going side to side. Also, later, I found out the chinese valve stem have a recal on them.... change the valve stem it may save your life.....

  • I seriously cannot stress how important this is to do and at least you didn't find out the "wrong" way. If this happens on the front wheel, then the story changes entirely. Thank you for your comment and even more so; thank you for changing yours out.

  • Thanks!

It worked perfect for me! :D
