  • Im going on carnival Legion in July will It cheach Fire?

  • @TheCommanderSaturn Carnival Legend.

  • I was on this last year. So amazing

  • Ever wonder why this supposed "fire" broke out the same day as the California "mystery missile"???? China fired an EMP...test was an A+

  • On all cruise ships they should stow away a few hundred paddles. If the engines conk out for whatever reason they can paddle their asses back to shore.

  • I went on the carnival pride over the summer. It. Was. AWSOME!!!!

  • i was on teh freedom that week and we had somthing drunk and feel down the stairs and got major hurt and had to go back to saint thomas and didn't get to go to nassa i was so fucking pissed CARNIVAL cruise sucks anyways nouthing to do on the freedom ship

  • I got off that boat last Thursday. I was the LAST passenger OFF of the boat, I exited the FAIL cruise A full day BEYOND the 2nd to the last passenger.

    Seriously.

The magicians on their David Sandy magic cruise saved the day by performing Close-up Magic Illusions for the 4,200 non magicians on the boat. We figured that us magicians were the ONLY group that had a BLAST ! ! !

  • I'm thinking of booking one myself. I did some good reserach at cruisesforthefamily (.) com

  • spam and fucking poptarts

  • who would go on the cruise again? and how????

  • @TheGLEEK14 i guess cruise ships arent man made and must be perfect right?

  • I would imagine it was scary at first, esp. 4 those who saw smoke/fire. I also imagine things got a lil' ripe 'cause of the toilet and water situation. BUT it was only 3 days, they got fed, free booze, soft beds, ocean air & lot of company. It sounds like a big camping trip if u ask me. I'm tired of people whining about their "ordeal". They should try being stuck down a mine for 3months, where part of the time no1 knows U R alive & live off a can of tuna with 12 others. Then they can complain.

  • Damn I was just on this ship in June. Crazzy stuff I tells ya.

  • hahahhahaha....what a dramatic tragedy..all those fat ass poeple had not food because it went bad....awwww.

  • these people act like they came out of a mine in Chile !

  • Tired of hearing these people whine---only us spoiled americans could whine about inconvienences aboard a cruise ship. You bastards still had more food and clean water available to you than many people who struggle everyday just for the basics. So shut up and move on.

  • shit i wish i was on that cruise id be one down in the engine room helping get the power back and at least one engine running

diesel engines are easy a fire would only burn up electrical lines tear up the floors in some places and take enough wire to rewire the engine and fire that bitch up

  • @silvertungdemon, are you a marine engineer, experienced with emergency repairs at sea? I really wonder if it's that easy...

For what I've heard, the fire damaged some wiring that had been designed sloppily, i.e. there were some critical parts that, when damaged, caused a shipwide blackout. That shouldn't be possible on a modern cruise ship, even though the SRTP rules were not in force when the Splendor was built. The engines themselves were probably okay, but the auxiliary systems failed.

  • @tupsumato nope im not an engineer im a mechanic that addapts to a situation. as long as the fire didnt damage the generators its easy just 20x bigger

in other words the fire damaged the generators on the engines and because of the way its made it fried some componets the didnt allow the backup generators to work

  • @silvertungdemon, from what I've understood, main engine auxiliary systems (fuel, lubrication, cooling, control etc.) in ships usually require electricity for continuous use. There might be a small gravity fuel tank and some critical pumps might be engine driven, but quite many are electric and the engine can not be run or even started without them. It's a very complex system that requires more than just turning a key to start.

  • @tupsumato they got the engines running might have been limping a bit but none the less running engine systems are not complexwires are easy just time consuming if you have to re work a computer now thats complex but wireing just a simple this wire here this wire there

  • @silvertungdemon, considering the fact that the ship wasn't far from the coast, not in immediate danger and help was already on its way, I guess fixing the engines at sea just wasn't on top of the priority list.

I still doubt that major cable damage could've been fixed at sea. The ship doesn't carry such spares and I doubt there are tools to jury rig heavy cables onboard. Bad workmandship could've resulted in another fire.

  • @silvertungdemon, also, if there were problems with heating, there would've been problems with the fuel supply. The ship probably runs on heavy fuel oil that, unless heated, is closer to the stuff they put on the roads than the stuff we put in our cars. The tanks need to be heated and the pipes need trace heating.

  • @tupsumato diesel fuel is supposed to look like the crap sitting at the bottom of an old oil drum without the water in it up to 30% motor oil can be mixed with diesel thick but works and like any shop the owner lookes over your sholder making sure you are doing the job right thats why they have engineers it is simpley lending a helping hand not fixing it myself they do carry spare parts and have a machine shop in the lower decks so what you dont have you fix

  • i was on that cruise. I had a room with a balcony so i had alittle light. but besides that it was alright. ohh and where is everyone getting the idea that we had spam??? it was deff some half ass sandwhiches. No spam though. hahahah

  • @iamoneamongeleven there is a slide show by "Live boat" here on youtube, it shows a pallet of spam being transferred from the reagan to the splendor.

thats where they got the idea.

  • @settypatch ohh haha. ight. i never got any. there was also cake but i didnt get any of that either. hahahaha

  • @iamoneamongeleven was all on the news the coast guard on fourth day bringing it in and pop tarts?? not true maybe they brought it for the crew?? but hey you get all your money back another free cruise same length as this one??

  • ever one actting like litte babys cause they had cold food no hot water stop and think for just a min today is veterans day do you here your soilders crying cause it has been a few days with no water at all no sleep for days no hot food or no food at all think about that your cry about a few days of some one not waitting on your cry baby ass suck it and fuc-ing drive on your alive be think full of that . !!!!!

  • @1thummel ugh but they idnt save up for a year and take thier one vacation some in over ten years so its kind of sucked and they were not rich cause who in their right mind would go to mexico at this point they are the cheapiest cruise cause you might just get shot in the head soooooo and also the crew had it much much worst they have no windows and are packed below like slaves

  • @1thummel can u use periods at the end of sentences next time? thanks, it's a little hard to read :)

  • @1thummel waste a couple thousand dollars on a cruise and have to put up with that shit. Maybe if you were older you would think about stuff like that you little ass hole.

  • @1thummel they paid large amounts of money to have an enjoyable cruise, they didn't pay to endure a life-threatening tragedy

  • boo frikken ho...it only lasted for 3 days, you didn't have to pay for it, and now you have a ticket for another free cruise..i'd take that deal anyday...whining bitches

  • People are insane now days....who in their right mind would board a ship with over 3,200 guests AND 1,100 crew members??? You are totally at the mercy of that ship. All them people crammed into this ship...all needing food and water and plumbing to shit and piss....all this in a confined tight small area where disease can break out and god knows what else

My god why would anybody take a cruise...I mean seriously...why?

  • @MatrixFactoryGuy i went on that cruise. and i had the best time of my life it is the nisest ship ive ever been on. try it someday

  • @MatrixFactoryGuy hmmmm ur an idiot!!! read what you wrote! omg paranoia much? i reckon you feel the same way about flying!!! how bout thanksgiving dinner with your family? lmmfao i mean seriously... you're an idiot!

  • @Matrix Factory Guy cause until something goes horrible wrong its fun the service is great best service i had from regular staff they wait on you hand and foot doing everything to make you happy, and i love the ocean but when things go wrong your in the fight of your life just read my ncl story it was so bad

  • I heard they were running out of options so they started serving things like hot dog salads and green bean sandwiches.

  • who is going to greet them first at the port? family members or greedy jew lawyers?

  • The USS Obama............

  • "You stand in line for two hours just to get your food because everybody goes to the same place to pick up their food. And, so you stand in line and you wait, then once you get your food, you leave and you look for something to do."

Instead of dining on lavish seafood buffets, passengers have been fed Spam, crab meat and Pop Tarts,

The ship lost power Monday, so rooms in the interior of the ship are pitch black and without air conditioning.

  • Mrs Bun: Have you got anything without Spam? Waitress: Well, Spam, egg, sausage, and Spam; that's not got much Spam in it. Mrs Bun: I don't want any Spam! Mr Bun: Why can't she have egg, bacon, Spam, and sausage? Mrs Bun: That's got Spam in it!

  • I am sick of hearing about this.. so these assholes have to eat spam and pop tarts... there are millions of people starving in the world

  • @FinestIntensity Maybe you need to learn how to read more than 3 words when reading an article.

  • I wonder if Carnival was giving away the booze after this incident. Everytime I travel on Carnival 7 day cruises ..my bar bill is about $200.00 by the end of the trip. So the least they could do was open the bars and say "drinks are on the house till we get back to port"

  • modern cruise ship propulsion is done by azipods that have electric motors in them the size of a fullsize pickup truck. the size and weight of a batteries needed to supply that much power are too large and heavy to be practical to carry.

  • @101HeyNow, Carnival doesn't use Azipods in their newest ships. AFAIK the Splendor has traditional propellers and rudders.

  • @tupsumato I wondered about this. I was on the Splendor just last week. I was on the NCL Star a year ago, same route. The Star was MUCH more quiet, steady & smooth. The Splendor constantly jostled & pitched on completely smooth water with noticable prop shudder at the rear of the ship. We had 4 to 6 ft swells the entire time on the trip with the Star & it was smoother. I am not joking.

  • @settypatch, I don't think that has anything to do with the propulsion arrangement. Even Azipods cause vibrations. I guess it's just that some ships are designed better than the others.

  • row row row your boat

  • @MrLukasart

    It's called service.

  • The Carnival Splendor is Brand New kinda. and already broke.

    Well nothings perfect.

  • Well that sucks, lol. You have only a certain amount of time for vacation, and that happens. I guess a lot of people got screwed.

  • @talltom1973 i heard tonight they get money backl and another free cruise it helps but no air is the thing i would die from no air, i mean ur in mexico and no air condtion and span and pop tarts?

  • @cassandrabadie I know I thought the same thing. Without AC some people would be ill, I know I would be. Heard a lot of passengers just slept on deck. Hopefully they come up with better meals if this happens again.

  • @cassandrabadie i work in 120 degree heat in the summer no ac i just ripped it out of my truck need ac dive dive dive!!!!

  • sometimes we have a accident wherever we are or whatever we are doing it happened. we never know what gonna happen so still we have to thank that nobody gets hurt.

  • @valorfreedom2006 lease they have booze

  • Time to start a Royal Caribbean is better than Carnival arguement

  • GOD DAMN IT! I was boarding that ship in five days.

  • @1bad66ss396 relax. The carrier will be there let's two day in ocean. Maybe Wednesday morning. Hope toliet works on that stranded ship.

  • Wow that sucks... We were on the Splendor for the 2nd time in Sept. It's a nice ship. Can't wait to go again!

  • I was just on this exact ship and our cruise ended Sunday! That is so crazy that we missed this happening to us by less than a day. I feel really bad for all of these cruisers, sad day.

  • I just wish I could be there to get some of the spam they are flying in to feed the passangers.

  • When you stare at thin beautiful female and next thing you notice there's dozens of fat lady on pool. Other fat ladies putting lotions on fat lady's back. They loved to eat. Usually fat ladies go wild at beaches and jumping like retards and clapping. Their bodies looks like balloons and rhinoceros swimming.

Fat ladies wearing red toe nails and sandals. When you look at your fat wife now. She put hair up and say do i look young and ? When you are in beer. Yeah, a thin young lady. lol.

  • @NouCrazyBitches Your an idiot!!

  • I was on this ship jus a couple months ago going to the same place there were! O.O wow! sucks cuz the ppl on the ship werent even on there for even a full day and there crusie had to end also they had no power and everyone had to go to lido deck to make sure everyone was safe frm the fire

  • @kiera791 at least-they are alive!!!!

  • lol no refund

  • No battery power?

Submarines have battery power for manueverability in case of disaster.

    Apparently, ships are different.

  • @pvtjamesryan3, the new safety rules cover issues like safe return to port after fire in or flooding of one of the engine rooms. This ship is quite old so it's not build according to those rules.

Also, there's no battery power for propulsion. Take-me-home devices are usually shaft generators that can double as electrical motors.

  • @tupsumato - Actually, the Carnival Splendor is one of the cruise line's newer ships. It went into service in July of 2008.

  • @TechBearSeattle, the rules came into force on the 1st of July this year, so in that matter the Splendor is an old ship with outdated design.

  • @tupsumato 2 years old?

  • @cassandrabadie, something like that.

  • @pvtjamesryan3 : that is because submarines have a little more at risk should something catastrophic go wrong... with a motor vessel, if the engines and/or electrical quit, we just go adrift, grab a life raft and you are relatively safe - with a submarine, if the proverbial sh*t hits the fan and something goes wrong underwater, you need to be able to survive long enough to surface safely... that, well, some (used to be all) subs are diesel, which don't work when submerged...
