  • Who am I to say what n who the fuck r u too. But one thing no one can deny is Rocky's everlasting stamina that even Ali n Foreman lacked.

N if u do, then u dun really know boxing.

  • The thing I hate most about boxing is, the fans love to use age in relations to fights. But thank god George Foreman @ 40 has proved these biased people wrong

Marciano was a great fighter no doubt. He revolutionized the slugging/swarming style. Foreman n Frazier were inspired by him. But to say he's the goat is ludicrous at best. N Ali winning against him? That's a mythical theory with no scientific explanations of a mythical fight that will never happen.

  • Why do people always say about a "young" Walcott, do you not know that Walcott improved with age and won the "Heavyweight" title for the first time at the age of 37, then a year later fought Rocky, he was at his best. When he was younger he was simply not as good and lost 11 fights in his day. So the "young Walcott" theory simply won't fly.

  • por que no sube nadie la primera pelea de La Starsa con Marciano, la que le robaron a La Starza...

  • What do I know, I'm not Italian and haven't got big midget, short limb disorder.

  • yeh u can see a lot better (boxing skills) @ (power) when the camera is up close but mostly it seems the camera is up in the rafters in those days plus theres no sound so its a lot harder to get a feel for the fight

  • swag' and his imaginary friends, I guess boys will have their heros. Where's all the legendary arm beating on LaStarza? LaStarza couldn't punch worth sh*t, only ranked contender he ever beat was the semi tough fat kid Rex Layne who was really crude, but hey it was a week era; layne was a top ten contend for something like 5 years. The Hoopla IS all about being identified with and idolized by short limbed little guys. Kids and their hero, go figure.

  • Lastarza was a great and very skilled boxer.

    Weakest eras in Heavyweights' history:

    - the Patterson's reign

    - the Holmes' reign

    - post-Tyson, only two great champions: Lennox Lewis and Vitali Klitschko

Rocky beat strong opponents. Only Joe Louis and Archie Moore weren't at their best.

The rest, is stupid legend who in 2010 suffer from Rocky's greatness.

Marciano is one of the bests ever.

    Live with it!

  • rocky would beaten ali and a young walcott / louis

  • @SirBobTurner

    would he fuck

old louis/walcott managed to knock him down, imagine if what young louis/walcott would have done to him, and as for Ali, Marciano would come out with a face like Italian meatball stew

  • @Bucketheadhead He would beat them easily. Ali wouldn't knock Marciano down but he'd win on points. It'd be like the Ali-Chuvalo fight.

  • @Bucketheadhead your forgetting Marciano got up and won those fights, its 2011 mate let it go no one knows what a Marciano Ali fight would have been like and who the winner would have been so lets just enjoy the vid yeah?

  • THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I'VE SEEN A MARCIANO FIGHT. HIM AND HIS OPPONENT DIDN'T HAVE ANY BOXING SKILLS IN THOSE DAYS. i'LL WATCH A FEW MORE AND SEE WHAT ALL THE HOOPLA IS ABOUT MARCIANO

  • You know nothing of boxing watch it closely if your a boxer you'll know where the defense and where the skill is.

  • jer go what the truth about marciano parts 1 and 2......Besides Ali he was the greatest.....Ali and Foreman are the ONLY two who might beat him...he would have buried Tyson and even a Young Louis

  • NO,Ali and Jack Johnson were the only 2 HW who possibly could have overcome the Rock.Ali with speed of feet and Johnson with himself.Definitely not George Foreman,Rocky woulda mashed the mummy into little pieces.Foreman wasnt as powerful as people think, when he knocked guys out they jumped back up,Frazier 7 times etc. When Marciano knocked you out,you went OUT!!!

  • No boxing skills in those days? LOL Marciano was one of the hardest punchers in the history of boxing. Plus a little jab had no effect on his agression. He could punch down a brick wall. All he had to do was take a few punches to get in close and deliver his sledgehammer. Down they went...every single opponent.

  • yes it was a title fight

  • roland lastarza was a good boxer with great skills who was unbeaten before fighting marciano, but this was one of rocky marciano's best fights he was quick, mad, agressive and in great shape

  • Was this a championship fight?

  • Marciano held LaStarza up in this fight, a grudge fight. LaStarza later said that Marciano was a lot harder to hit this time than in their earlier fight.

  • pugcat,,,dont sell these guys short,,its difficult to judge talent on video,,especially when you know the outcome,,look at the great george foreman,,people today would say in his prime he was unbeateable,,yet he looked very ordinary against pastrano who was la stazas size and less skilled than lastarza,,look at jimmy young 212lbs with little muscle beat big george ,based on that id say joe walcott takes big george,,,look at clay,,,if frazier beats him ,,then dempsey, marciano and tyson do too

  • LaStarza was a terrific fighter. Those were different days when every kid wanted to be a fighter and dreamt of being a champ, when there was only one heavyweight crown, and when being world champ meant something. Marciano came through all of that winning all of his fights. The best of the best and a WIN legend for every sport and for all time.

  • LaStarza only boxed other club fighters with a mix of over hill journeymen.

  • Roland LaStarza is one of the greatest defensive boxers of all time. He is the only one to beat Marciano on one judge's scorecard (in his first fight with Marciano). Here he is KO'd for the first time in his career. Before this fight, he had beaten all of his opponents except for Marciano.

  • Did LaStarza ever hold a title 'at all' for some period of time in his career? And was Marciano defending his title in this particular fight which is being posted here i

  • haha this commentator sounds like jackie chan!

    Rockys a beast!!

  • Anyone got any Tommy Jackson videos?

  • Two little slow hacks, with padded records, who did they ever beat?

  • *skull*

  • Roland pretty good. Maybe best Canadian heavyweight ever. Chuvalo had the thickest ull ever.

  • Oh, so LaStarza gets saved by the ref's intervention while Charles, Moore, Cockell, Walcott, Matthews and Louis, etc. get the pleasure of the merciless beatdown? I see how it rolls now. It was a conspiracy!

  • Correction -- when I think about it, Cockell kinda got the fairy treatment too, since he was all off balance and out of it (was even allowed to take a breather on the ropes)before the ref seemed to conveniently step in.

Yep -- clear conspiracy, to where the block-headed, Flintstone faced dudes (LaStarza and Cockell) were allowed to leave the arena with dignity intact. Hanna AND Barbera just had to be in cahoots with the mob. The name LaStarza sounds cool as hell, which may have played a part.

  • too great fighters lastarza just didnt have what rock had..the determination.he gave up in that 11 round..u no what they say no pain no game.

  • These old fighters are too flat footed, its old time fighting, if it would still work today youd see champs today using it.

Roland never had the title & lost to 7 bums [Rocky gave him 2 more losses but Rocco isnt a bum]

Roland was also an actor i bet u muthafvckas aint kno that :D

  • Rocky savagely beat LaStarza's arms and upper body, until huge hematomas began appearing on the forearms. By the 10th round, Roland could barely lift his gloves above his shoulders. LaStarza had chipped bones in his elbows and ruptured blood vessals that turned to hardened clots in his forearms and had to have surgery to repair the damage.

  • LaStarza on fighting Marciano: "I won the first fight. Everyone thought I won the first fight except the referee. All the newspaper guys gave me the decision. The second fight ruined me. It was easy at first. Then in maybe the sixth round I blocked a punch with my left arm and my left was gone. I blocked one of his right hands and that was it. I stood there and took a beating until the 11th. If I had one word to describe Rocky it would be relentless."

  • LaStarza moved away from The Rock's attacks and slid along the ropes, proving to be what many, including Marciano, called "The best defensive fighter of the heavyweight division." When Rocky would get him momentarily pinned, he resorted to what Ali would later dub, "The rope-a-dope". Finally, a frustrated and worried Marciano was told by his trainer Charley Goldman, "Bang his arms until he brings them down."

  • Isn't there a version in English?

  • After his first fight with Rocky, LaStarza went on to beat every boxer he fought, until this rematch with Marciano. After his second loss to the Rock, he lost interest in boxing, and spent long periods of time out of the ring. He won some and lost some, but he was never the same after this fight. But in his prime, he would have been a threat to anyone. No one knows him because he was eclipsed by Marciano who denied him the heavyweight championship.

  • I think LaStarza (misspelled in the title of this video) would have been heavyweight champion if Marciano hadn't existed. Let's not forget the first Marciano-LaStarza fight: both fighters were undefeated, and Roland outsmarted Rocky for much of the match. One judge each, with the ref calling it a draw. They had to go to individual round scoring to declare Marciano the winner by SD.

  • Roland LaStarza was a hell of a fighter. To get this fight he defeated Rex Layne. Roland was overrated. Had he fought in another ere he would have been atleast a contender. This fight proves Marcianos greatness.

  • =D awesomeee so inspiring

  • Marciano looked great this fight. Thanks, I've been waiting for someone to post this.
