Thank you for your kind wishes. But I think Ukrainians should speak Ukrainian, not Russian. If all Ukrainians speak Russian instead of Ukrainian, they will just turn into Russians. History knows many examples when nations come to extinct because of forgetting the languages of their own.

Thank you friend! May Ukrainian neverbecome extinct!! But I know Canadians that speak Ukrainian. Americans who speak Spanish. Ukrainians who speak Russian. Others speak Moldavian. Others speak Ukrainian. Others speak Bulgarian. There is a difference between nationality and ethnic origin. The Lord bless Ukraine!!

I think it's better to speak BOTH, Ukranian and Russian, but not forget the mother tongue! However, it's NEVER a bad idea to speak more than one languages! Trust me! I speak 4 languages and never had the thought to forget my mother tongue (russian) and never did, though I speak all 4 languages fluently, almost as if they were my mother languages! It helps to get around!
