  • whats the difference between the 330 and the 830 please?

  • Sorry, for the long delay answering your question. You've probably already chosen a piano by now, but in case you haven't. The 330 has many, many different sounds and rhythms and recording options on to many tracks, which is great for someone who performs live, or who wants to create a multi instrument recording, while the 830 has hardly any sounds, rhythms or recording options, but has much better speakers.... The 830 has been made to be the best sounding piano.

    Regards -Richard-

  • Great informative video, thanks

  • Hi, wonderful video, very helpful. Wondering if PX-730 is portable or not at all. You did show how PX-130 is portable, how about PX-730? Also does the PX-130 keys come with touch response like the PX-730? (I read somewhere PX-730 does but there was no information about PX-130)

  • Hi Richard,

I am tempted to get the 730 because of the price. I heard that if I will always use it with headphones (I live in a condo) I will not see much benefit in getting the 830. Beside the SD slot, is there any other reason to get an 830? I am a beginner and know nothing about Digital Pianos.

    Thanks!

  • whats the difference between the PX and CDP?

  • Hi Richard, thanks for the great review, I've been looking for a comparison video like this!! I'm tossing up between the PX730 and PX830. I know the PX830 is about $500 more than the 730 but I'm not sure if it's really worth it. I'm pretty much a beginner piano player, I played it up to grade one level 6 years ago and I want to get back into it. The only reason I'd be buying the 830 is for the better sound quality I think. What do you suggest for someone at my level?

  • @AlyssaAust91

    Thanx for the question.

the px830 and px730 both have fantastic depth. I would personally play both, while I wouldn't play the px130.... it's just not deep enough. The 830 is way superior to the 730 in the complexity of sound , especially in it's mid range and higher range. The 730 sounds a bit dull compared to the 830. If you're keen to learn and you have the extra money to spend, it's definitely worth going for the px830. I LOVE THE PX830! -rich-

  • wow nice pianos =D im still confused though 730 is cheaper than the 130?

  • Thanx for the quesiton.

The px730 should be more expensive than the px130, but it's such a popular model

that shops seem to quite often drop the price below the px130 price. -Rich-

  • Hi Richard, Excellent video. I've been reading about the PX 330 and am planning to buy it. Was looking for a DP with weighted acoustic piano action, accompaniment styles and acoustic piano sound. The PX 330 is the only DP with all these features. Needed to know if the key feel/action is similar to GH3 action of yamaha. Thanks.

  • @100bsl Hi

I've only played a gh3 briefly. I remember it feeling like the keys had further to travel

to make a sound ... which isn't really a good or bad thing... it's just different. The weight of the keys seemed similar to the px330, but I haven't really played it enough to make a real comparison. I love the feel of the px330 though,... so if the feel is important to you, it's a good on to go for.

  • Hi Richard, do you know the subtle difference of the sound quality between PX 830 and Celviano AP 420, other than their appearance. I thought the wooden chasis and the speakers may affected the timbre, but I couldn't tell which one is better. Do you have any recommondation of this? Thank you.

  • Hi The px830 has the perfect piano sound in my opinion... it has fullness, volume and clarity. The ap420 has more fullness, similar volume, but a bit less clarity.

It sounds like a really good 'real' piano in a big styrofoam box, while the px830 sounds like a really good 'real' piano.

  • Hi, this is probably the best review I've found for the Privia so far :) I'm considering getting the PX-730 but I would like to get the limited edition white version. Will you be stocking it, or able to order it in? Cheers :)

  • @nightlina

    Thanx for the praise!

We will be ordering the limited edition white version.

Let me know if you'd like one :)

    Regards -Richard-

  • I'm looking at getting a new digital piano and have about $1000 - $1500 to spend. The one we have suffers terribly from clunky keys and sounds way too basy. Are the keys on these particularly clunky?

Apart from the Watts and Pro audio on the 830, does the 730 have the same functions, features etc?

PS. You're video has been the most helpful so far :) A lot of other videos fail to review between models

  • Thanks to you and your wife's video you're helping people all over the planet ( I myself live in Norway...!). I'm sooooooo close to buying the 130 after having compared it to a Yamaha p85. BUT, I got a little confused when you say that "more watts equals more power...". The sales man here said that it all boils down to the amplifier NOT the watts... HELP!

  • Watt is the unit measurement of power. The bigger the amplifier the more watts at the output, in this case power at the speakers. I guess you can use and external amplifier, like an AV receiver via the headphone output, to get more watts. If that is the only difference between them then I would chose the 130.

  • Thanks a lot for all your advices ! it's a really great video and you have conforted my choice for the px 830 !!!

i'm in france and all the sellers can't explain me the real difference , but with your video it's really good ! thanks a lot again !!!!

  • I'm glad you liked it.

    Thanx for the positive feedback

  • does the px-330 have the same piano quality with the 830? regardless of their built in speakers. thanks!

  • The px-330 and px-830 have the same sound chip and similar touch... .so if you were to plug them into identical amplifiers/speakers, the sound would be the same.

The speakers on the px-830 are much bigger and more powerful, so without external amplification, the 830 sound is 1,000,000 times better than the 330.

  • Are the keys on the PX-830 noisy like on the PX-720? The clunking sound would do my head in and I won't have a chance to play first hand.

    Thanks,

  • I don't remember the clunking on the PX-720, but I haven't played one for ages.... The PX-830 doesn't sound clunky at all, even with the volume turned right down. The CDP-100 that we have sounds really clunky comparatively.... but that's also an older model, so it sounds like that might be something they have addressed in the newer models.

  • @rbodinnar

thank you for your feedback about USB jack

i have a one more question

when i played in shop on the px330 on maximum volume i heard the crack sounds from speakers

does px830 have the same problem ? or it has brilliant sound even on maximum volume ?

  • I tried all of the privias on maximum volume and didn't hear any cracks, although the ones with the bigger speakers (the 730 and 830) gave a more pure sound than the ones with the smaller speakers (130 and 330) when I really belted them!

  • does the PX-830 have a midi in and out and?

can i use it as midi keyboard e.g. FL studio ?

  • The new casios have a USB jack which carries midi information to your computer, so you can use it as a midi controller keyboard.

  • Hi again! I was searching on the web about Px-830 after your explanation when I found the Px-800. Are they similar? You told me Px-830 is miles better than Px-330. It was great knowing about that. I'll buy that over the internet and I have no way to do an test before buying. But now could you tel me the difference between Px-800 comparing to Px-830? I'll buy an digital piano next week and I really wanna have no regrets about my decision. So thanks a lot for helping me! Best regards.

  • Hi! Could you tell me the sound and chassis difference between Casio Privia Px-330 and Px-830. And I want to know the same question about Px-330 and Px-130 (comparing).

    Thanks a lot.

  • The PX-830 has a bigger chassis than the Px-330, .... the speakers are mounted differently and they are much bigger and more powerful. There is no contest sound wise.

The Px-330 has heaps of extra sounds and features that the px-830 dosen't have, but if you are talking about sound, the px830 is miles better.

The Px-330 and Px-130 seem to have a similar depth and fullness in their piano sounds. I think the speakers are about the same size and power and the chassis is similar on each.

  • Thanks for helping!!

  • no you didnt^^ but i dont know which of some digital pianos i shoul buy.

but you say something about the px 730

  • what do you mean ? px 800 stage piano or px 730? thx

  • Did I say something about a px 800? I hope not. The three models in the video are the px-130, px-730 and px-830. They are the newest models on the market.

  • Thanks very much for taking the time to do such a informative demo/review. we are thinking buying a digital piano, and this has been very helpful.

  • no probs, happy to help :)

  • which is better the casio px-730 or the roland f110? is the extra money for the roland really worth it?

  • I found the sound of the f110 pretty similar to the px730, but with less samples per key. The roland had small speakers, but had 12watts per side instead of 8w, however, the px830 has 20w per side and is still cheaper than the roland. The new casios are the biggest selling dig piano in the world for a reason.

  • thanks. i want to learn the piano now im older, but right now i cant play anything at all on piano. do u think the advantages that the more px-830 offers are for a more experienced player?.....it looks like the px-730 may be the best for me.

  • The px830 has a better, clearer sound than the px730 which is going to be better regardless of whether you are a beginner or a professional.

However, the px730 is amazing value for money and is our biggest seller.... If it's something that you will keep for ever and will take you to a reasonable level, I would probably spend the extra money.... I guess it comes down to your budget.

  • thansk 4 the help!

  • Comment removed

  • The piano sound is very nice on these for the price. I have an acoustic but needed something with a headphone jack for private practice at night, and this caught my eye (ear).

If you don't need the additional features of the 730 or 830, but like the greater sound just buy the 130 and run it through your own set of powerful speakers/headphones. You'll get a sound better than what any of them come with out of the box.

With that and the availability of good software piano, touch is a priority.

  • Very good review!!! Thank you very much!

  • Thank you for this, it was very helpful :)

  • Thanks but you need to do a review of the PX-330 as well.

  • no probs..

I'll get on to it soon :)

  • Thanks!

  • wait... if it has a headphone jack i can hook that up the the auxiliary.

  • That's right.. you can hook any of them up through the headphone outs. The Px830 also has 'professional line outs' which transfer the sound better than the headphone outs.

  • can you hook the keyboard up to a stereo?
