I think it's easier if you add a new transparent layer, and set the mode to color and then just Paintbrush/Airbrush in the color you want into the eye :]

Yay! Second thing/third thing I've learned to do with Gimp! You have a very nice voice and it's so easy to understand your directions. I made a Cullen eye (like from Twilight, just in case you aren't in on that whole loop)! Love the tutorial!
