  • Is that keiths son playing drums?

  • @qazqueen its ringo starrs son zak on drums

  • oh pete 65 and still can whip out a fucking amazing solo

  • usually throwing "fucking" arbitrarily into a song doesn't work... i'd say it does here.

  • he looks like ringo. same honker

  • Yeah, interesting about Roger playing a guitar again. It took me a long time to get used to also seeing Jon Anderson with a guitar.

  • At 0:54 did he say I'll go out of my fucking mind?

  • @drledsabbath yes.

  • @AngelofMusic2288 Lmao, wow.

  • watch?v=46CNp89_52Y

  • Is Keith dead?

  • @Landon139

....Please tell me that you were being sarcastic... He has been for only the last 3 'decades'

  • @Landon139

    No.

  • Roger is so fucking sexy in this.

  • @ForbiddenHaze I know i just want to give him a BLOW JOB

  • 37 years later and there still amazing...

  • "I'll go out of my fuckin' mind" lol - I love Roger on guitar and the song is played briliantly!

  • who gave roger a guitar? haha i'm kidding of course i just always think it's funny to see him with a guitar instead of his crazy stage dancing.

  • @jokerwalrusmusic Funny note if you didn't know: Roger originally joined the band (way back when they were the Detours) as lead guitarist, and Pete was rhythm guitarist.

  • @Tranchera Not quite, putz. Roger formed The Detours and he was their guitarist. Pete was not part of the group yet. The entire band , including Daltrey, realized he sucked wind on the guitar. They also knew he barely passed as a vocalist, but that is another story. They found Pete, and Pete became the sole guitar player. Roger became a vocalist only at this point. he was later fired as vocalist, but quickly reinstated after Can't Explain hit the charts.

  • @dmf3367 As far as I know, putz, there was a short period (and I mean short) where there were five members of the band, which included Pete on rhythm and Roger as lead. That's what I've read on pretty much every site on the internet, and I'm pretty sure it was mentioned in either Amazing Journey or Kids Are Alright (probably the former). Sorry if I'm wrong.

Of course, my comment was only related to Roger playing guitar so I didn't mention him getting fired, which I knew. But whatever.

  • @jokerwalrusmusic i love The Who...but much as it pains me - i have to agree with you. roger's stage dancing consists mainly of marching in place and his microphone throwing thing. odd as it seems to see him with a guitar - he looks way cooler. without it, he's right up there with Robert Plant in terms of stage moves. i feel especially bad for him when he's not singing because he's got nothing to do. Long Live Rock...be it dead or alive...

  • @jokerwalrusmusic I guess it took him 45 years to learn to play.LOL I don't ever remember seeing him with an instrument but a tambourine

  • @TheGB1950 I think Roger played guitar before he was a vocalist.

  • It's interesting the ablating Pete does in the middle of the song is different to what he did on the DVD I have. And so what about Rogers shirt, he's on stage, the lights are glaring down on him, it's hot, so he can take all the way off if he really wanted too.

  • Why does the camera ignore John? He's an essential part of the show.

  • Is it just me, or does Roger look like Hercules with his shirt open like that? (plus the curly hair)<3

  • They should not be playing this song now lol... it doesn't fit their age. And yet for some reason I'm okay with other stuff age-specifc. Also, Roger, button that god damn shirt you're at least 50something by then

  • @bkev93 Roger looks great! :P

  • ringo an his son look equal!

  • Hey Pete, I love yours and The Who's music. If you can , take Marky Ramone as a new drummer in the future one time. That will be very cool !

  • @bassfeile Well if he's good enough for Teenage Head, a one off of Marky with the Who would be probably a lot of fun.

  • Roger, the open shirt look worked we The Who and Led Zeppelin were still young, it doesn't work now

  • @pwnhaloX he is roger daltry, he can wear his shirt any way he wants!!!!!

  • Zak is a much better drummer than his old man was/is. At least he can do a drum roll.

  • @Schmoople That's what happens when you're left-handed, and play the drums like you were right-handed. Which was Ringo's case.

  • Daltrey's hulking out of his shirt.

  • His voice has held up, just barely. The kid on the drums is competent to play this song, which means he can hold his own with the best rock drummers on the planet.

  • Zak's the best drummer since Moon

  • @StraightTwoDVD How the heck is he terrible. He doesn't do anything wrong in this vid

  • @StraightTwoDVD are you being serious. starkey was absolutely brilliant

  • A+++

  • greatest live band!

  • happy birthday roger daltrey!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • lol 'ill go out of my fucking mind'

  • U got that right

  • he beats better than kenny jones!!

  • Keith is legend, he can't be replaced by anyone... i like Zak, but here he isn't good so much

  • I think Zak is better then his dad... but Ringo is still amazing

  • they just don't rock as much without freakin keith :(

  • @BakinBacon91 Keith kind of rocked too much - hence his disappearance - unfortunately.

  • @BakinBacon91 i agree, John Bonham of Led Zep was also a mean drummer.

  • The who are forever alright!

  • mamma mia ma perchè la gente invecchia???

  • They don't! Look how they are playing!

  • I respect your opinion but beg to differ, they still rock...even today...

  • Only the Ox can call down the thunder.

  • Yes, but only Keef and Pete could create a class 5 tornado!

  • wow i love the who and i love roger daltry but i gotta say that he does look alot like trapper from m.a.s.h. :P

  • so, i have the biggest crush on pete townshend :) <3

i so wish i could see the who live!!

  • zac was taught by keith moon and john bonham some drum tutors lol , and lifestyle coachs ,

  • R.I.P John.

  • oh my god what a year i learn the best three Lead singers in music history all Play Guitar Roger plays in this one Freddie plays in Crazy little thing called love and Robert plays in um Boggie with Stu

  • Mick Jagger also plays guitar. Roger was the original guitarist for The Who.

  • Nice to see Roger playing while singing.

  • is that zac starkey on drums

  • Yes

  • is the original single in e flat, this is in D right , but on the vid for the origianal hes miming it in d , maybe it was sped up or something i dunno lol.

  • the orig is in D

  • its just that on the video for the kids are alright its in e flat, all the other versions i agree are in d, unless the video is laying at the wrong speed or something

  • What a beautiful performance, so many years after they originally did this song.

  • kidde research, got an onolgy, moi dear?

  • Only The who= rock´s !

  • TheRolling Stones + The Who =ROCK .

  • most of us got here alive... in one piece... awesome :)

  • Are you serious? One word does not take away from perfection? John Lennon's song, Imagine (change that word..poof, perfection gone) Let It Be, change one of those words, perfection gone, The Children are Alright? Ahh..how that one word "Kids" changed the whole thing...yes..one word DOES take away from perfection! Jenni, 16, Chi-town baby!

  • it's great that he made a name for himself as a great drummer ..also , by using his dad's real name there are no misconceptions..although it does help that your dad is a freaking beatle..i also heard that keith moon gave him lessons as well.seeing as how his drumming is much more aggressive than his old man's .. but they're both great ..just like john and jason bonham ..2 different styles but both great !!

  • zak's got a nice haircut!

  • They never fail to impress me...

  • How sad that he had to add in this song, "i'll go outta my fucking mind' no particular reason other then to think he's "staying cool" srsly rodger..your still cool..no need for that, the song was perfect the way it was!!!!!!! Jenni, 16 from Chicago, IL

  • i doubt he was trying to stay cool, he's got millions of dollars plus he's roger fucking daltrey, but its cool. Tristan, 16 from Sandestin, FL

  • Sofaking what? Millions of dollars cant buy youth and coolness..Who's rodger daltrey but another person who'll die like the rest of us! As for swearing, did that make it cool for you? Btw..you actually put CCR, The Kinks, Aerosmith ahead of Pink Floyd, Supertramp and/or Queen..No wonder you liked that swearing put in their?? Oh yea..i do like your other tastes..hugs!

  • so phucking :) what exactly, your the only one who seems to care. You truly believe he said fucking to be cool, no, he just said it, not to just say it but he just said it. if that makes anysense. plus i never said i liked it i just dont mind him saying it. Also i do like floyd and queen, but they arent top 10 worthy for me, queen might be top 15.

  • He's said fucking for a while though. He said in Who Are You, who the fuck are you, and in Doctor Jimmy he said it too. IT doesn't really matter though, it's just a word.

  • I disagree. It's not just a word, it's a word that people will punish you for using for some asinine reason. The idea is to put it in without getting caught.

  • Zak is Ringo's (the Beatles) son right?

  • Yeah, Ringo's real name was Starkey but he shortened it to Starr as his stage name.

  • haha Zak STarr lol

  • The only good thing that Ringo Starr did in life, after he won the lottery of the Beatles, it was this son who plays drums in The Who. Not like K. Moon but not the worst.

  • that's right !

  • @wingedgallop Is there more than one Ringo?

  • listen to the Beatles' "All My Loving" then sing the bit about "but i know sometimes i must get out in the light". sounds like "close you eyes and i'll kiss you, tomorrow i'll miss you", doesn't it? :))

  • heck no

  • then tell that elephant to step off your ear mate :))

  • Yeah, and if you squint Bush looks like Ronald McDonald!

  • that's when YOU squint, mate. when I squint i can't tell him apart from Obama :))

  • keith moon is 50 times better than Zak but this guy is pretty good too

  • Missing the manic drummer so the song sounds like you could play it at a folk festival. Pete and Roger still sound good. Miss the spinning microphone too!

  • sind sie sicher.?

  • Are you fucking serious? That is the way the original should have been. If the song had been released in the 90's and not the 60's, it probably would have been. Have you heard Vedder's/Pearl Jam's cover? LOVE "outta my FUCKIN mind"!

  • ...why?

  • Because of all the things the Who are, controlled and polite are the things that really stand out.

  • Comment removed

  • wow zak is better than ringo....

    xD lol

  • Is that the dude from Wilco on drums?

  • He's from Oasis. Zak Starkey.

  • Keith Moons Godson.

  • @Tranchera

dont wanna sound like a dick but he is the who not oasis taught by keith moon although his dad was you know who, and he played for oasis whilst the who werent touring

  • @deanlad27 It's safe to say that besides the Who (which I didn't feel needed to be mentioned, given he's playing for them in this video) what he's best known for is being one of the drummers for Oasis.

  • The name of "The Kids Aren't Alright" is a reference to this song, but I just listened and there's very few similarities music-wise.

  • its old news anyway.

  • Whythe fuck is it a great deal. The guy Was Good at what he did and gave people music. The Who was great with him Pedo or not, so quit ya bitchin and listen to the damn music and stop slagging everyone that u may think or have heard is a pedo

  • I think Keith would have dug Zak. I like the improv too.

  • it was true pete was getting child pornography but to understand what the person who SEXUALY OFFENDED HIM so he was proven innocent so :D i love pete HES NO PEDO YOU SLAGGS

great song thankks for putting it up

  • He wasn't getting any CP. He just clicked on a site that was one of the Landslide sites the authorities were investigating.

  • i believe that

  • Comment removed

  • i love this song :D and Zak is great on drums too!

  • But of course he was a sex offender... which is why they didn't punish him in any way and let him go.

    It makes perfect sense.

  • I honestly don't care if he's a pedo or not, he's still a great guy.

  • I wouldn't expect much more from a guy who likes Pearl Jam.

  • pete townshend was innocent you fricking idiot, get your facts straight before u say anything.

  • By the way: haavar10 your profile is very suspect.

  • There was nothing he could be charged with. He was dragged in filth thanks to the media.

Ultimately, no matter the result. the music is fantastic.

  • The "facts are" that you left out...

Pete Townshend is not a pedophile. He was working for an outfit hunting pedophiles and pedo porn sites. There was a moment where he didn't have a company credit card, so he used his own, to gain entry to a site, in order to assess it as a real threat and violation. The police, too, had been drawn to the site, shut it down, and blanketly arrested all card holders, including Townshend.

  • A likley story - NOT!

  • The police confirmed the situation, but since the law is mandatory, they were unable to drop charges. They were locked into prosecuting.

It's old news, you have a lot of sources to get it right.

  • The organization is the Internet Watch Foundation, IWF, in Britain. They were "unable" to release emails to and from Townshend due to their policies of protecting such contributors. Townshend's lawyer(s?) finally received the records, confirming it all.

  • Pete tried taking the law into his own hands. Very stupid of him. The Internet Watch Foundation hung him out to dry. The man was being dragged through the mud, and they couldn't release the e-mails he sent them on those sites.

  • Yup--Just went to WIki and followed some footnotes: Falsely accused. Twat.

  • Roger keeps himself in shape what a sexy bitch

  • Roger on guitar and Zakk on drums. Neat!

  • "I know if I don't, I'll go out of my fucking mind"

    I love you Roger!

  • How Super Fucking Cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Pete is not a pedo!!pete is pete...a great guitarist!!! great!

  • Pete: Innocent. Now move along before I violate YOU!

  • Why are you here? Go away. Of course one is one the offender list--he was investigated--then cleared.

Interesting that the Kennedy Center for Arts had NO problem inducting these fine lads recently, withe President giving congratulatory speech.......

    Now: Piss OFF!

  • lrn24chan

  • Pete was investigated by the police and put on the Sexual Offenders list there no getting away from this fact . Your hero Pete is a pedo.

  • Hey DUMBASS--Wiki the circumstances. IF truly guilty of wrong doing, he would have been criminally prosecuted. Apparently VH-1 (Honors the Who--in the first show solely devoted to ONE artist); The City of New York (see the Who NYC on Youtube); and the Kennedy Center--with President Bush giving speech) ALL fell differently than you. Now move along you pissant.

  • vocals a bit weak on this version but love the who

  • Starky is the closest drummer the who had to compare the loon the moon

  • thats because The Loon mentored Starky when he was growing up

  • ya i know

  • then y are u watching this

  • go to hell

  • is that john playing bass?

  • yaarrr

  • The best band of all time, simple as

Life wouldnt be the same without The Who

  • I heard that Pete had gone near deaf,is that true?

  • He's pretty much deaf in one ear.

  • no wonder if... :p (and yes it's right with one ear)

  • I saw them in 76. Nothing else compares.

  • did they do this at rock honors

  • no they didn't

  • hey shoulda had jack white do this at rock honors

  • this song is just the best song ever, roger rocks
