great technique. don't listen to the haters. im still a beginer, but it looks like theres a lot going on with the sweep: lock the leg, underhook the lleft eg/foot, a little push then pull, and timing the sweep of the arm. when you do it in real time though the flow seems like it can actually be natural and easy. nice.
this is nothing new nor fancy BUT this sweep DOES work. cant understand what u are talking about shoulders hitting mat and legs in the air. what belt are you??
It does work and it`s a traditional half guard sweep. Holding the opponent`s foot is one of the best ways to sweep in half guard and the timing to get his arm is a great tip that helps in many moves.
I dont like this tech. There is one however where you rock up with your back. Shoulders hit the ground legs in the air. Lifting him up in the air. Then turning and grabbing his leg.
Tough sweep, but great post, trying to learn more sweeps from half-guard, in my last state championship, i lost in the semi-finals, because i made the takedown wrong and the other guy landed on top of me and just stayed there at my half-guard for the next 5 minutes.
It seems complicated in the beggining, but you quickly get the hang of it. I`m just a begginner, but I`ve already understood that it`s all applied phisics. If you bring the opponent`s gravity center close to you, it becomes easy to roll him over. Then you just need to keep him from placing a hand or a foot to stop the roll.

Always gold! Thanks Ken. I was looking for something to add to my half guard bottom game and I think I just found it.

this is a standard sweep. a basic hg technique. or rather a small variation. it is a basic sweep because it works. you must be trolling.

No, it's like the Old School sweep but without the Lockdown or anything to do with Eddie Bravo at all. =D
