People like you irritate me. I live in Western Colorado and I am an avid archery hunter. I hunt mule deer, elk, turkey, etc. I hike between 25 to 30 miles a day in the mountains. I dont sit and wait, I dont use any kind of bait or attractant. I actually search for the animals, and its no walk in the park. The animals are very smart and have excellent senses, so it's not like they don't have a chance.

Boy I cut myself a lot and sometime I feel it right away sometime I will notice about 30 seconds later but then it starts to pound , throb and hurt. Now imagine a deer being hit with an arrow not in the little pinky but to their body whether be liver, lung, or what ever part of the body , runs, then drop and the pain that the animal start to feel. Must be horrible suffering because I know bowhunters are required to wait at least 30-45 min minimum for the animal to die. Talk about cruel.

I am a hunter, and I will be the first to tell you that I do it for the enjoyment of the out doors and yes for the joy of the kill, but not to the extent that I kill the first or all the deer I see, I enjoy just watching them, they are beautiful. Also when I do take a deer it is for meat but not for me, we will donate all deer to our Hunters against Hunger program and feed many, many, many homeless and underprivilaged families. So I get to enjoy the kill and feed the hungry, pretty nice!!

And when it dies it will continue to become part of the life cycle. When I kill a deer it's body is used as food to feed myself, family and friends. If a deer dies of natural causes or is hit by a car it's body will still be used as food. It will be returned to the soil to provide nutrients to feed plants

ok how can you say the meat is tough if you never had it???? my deer are tender as anything else. my deer steaks melt in my mounth. like everything if you over cook it its going to suck period. also i eat everything i can on a deer. hearts, liver, legs, back strape, hind qaurters, neck, everything. and what i dont the yotes eat it and there happy to. you really have mental issues. just something not right with you and your comments

I lived in Fla for 5 years and knew people who cooked venison and they told me it has to be marinated for hours to tenderize it and lots of seasoning. I admit I tried it I was only 18 and did not know better but it taste like crap.

Thank you WildlifeDen . It's nice to be able to walk in the forest and look for the antler but overall I love the forest in the fall and winter except during the killing season. Now its over I spend more time in the forest and of course to find the shed antler. Some of the deer still have theirs so I have to be patient. :)

first of all hunters take the deer with disformaties before they take the healthy ones to insure that the good genetics get passed on and the bad are taken out that is how we create a HEALTHY deer herd which has seemed to be working for years now. Also they lay in the sunlight to absorb the sun light to stay warm not to look at the sun, they have no concept of what is beautiful lol.

Is that why the deer size has gotten smaller because of recreational wildlife serial killing need to kill the big bucks? They kill the "deformed" so you can have your future "trophy buck". I know your kind kill the spike deer where the horns are growing straight up. That is why I believe Sundance one of my favorite young deer I know since he was born was killed. Why don't you kill your own kind you are all deformed mentally and physically. !!

no we dont kill spikes for the bad genetics because a spike can be a perfectly good genetic deer you dont know if a deer has bad genetics until it gets older and start putting out more points... a spike could be a yearling with great genetics or it could be a year and a half old deer too, ever think not all hunters hunt for the rack and just want the meat? If deer have gotten smaller it isn't because of hunting, rather over population.

For example, in my area a mature 2 1/2 yr old doe will weigh 120lbs average and a buck 175lbs prior to the "rut". In parts of Maryland deer weigh a 1/3 less due to being way over populated and over the carrying capacity of the land.

Actually in Indiana since they implemented a one buck rule the bucks have gotten bigger.

Thank you alice, wildlife serial killers kills the deer with antlers that are not perfect when they are young to get them out of the gene pool. It's not about the health of the deer its about ensuring large "perfect" rack deer for them to kill. Nothing to do with killing the weaker deer. Its like killing a person with a large nose because they want humans with perfect nose even if the person is healthy. This I read in TX deer "management" website. How cruel is that?

It does not put "stress" on the deer because deer sense we are not out to hurt them. Deer are usually peaceful at this time of the season during hunting season they hear shot guns, bows and arrow hitting deer and they sense other deer fear and doom. Just like hikers in the woods we are peaceful people meaning no harm to them. Sometimes I talk while I am there to calm the deer and let them know I am not there to harm them.

Deer can sense killing season and killers that is why hunters have special "get rid of killer odor" soap.

That is really cool! I would love to find some antlers some day. We went to the mountains this past weekend and saw a herd of about 20 or more deer. It was awesome!

You will find one or two you have to look in the area where they bed down or follow their trails. Sometimes you will see a buck with one antler dangling LOL and I will be saying drop them here where I can find it. 2 years back Prince had one dangling from his head and I still have a photo of that.

Whiteshadow still has his . I thought he did lose it because I saw him at night in the forest or so I thought it was him but I guess it was not. Some of the other deer still have theirs so I am going to wait till whiteshadows falls off then I am going again to search for more shed antlers.
