  • The book was phenomenal. If you ever have the chance to read it, please do! The plot of the police officer and the old woman were not in the book, but just thrown in the mix I guess to increase dialogue or something. Hell, I don't know. It also didn't make a lick of sense. The wolves were probably domesticated and easier to train than the elk, so I understand that change, but the whole old lady and cop subplot weren't necessary.

  • the book was way better than this trash. the only redeeming quality of the movie was the actor that played Vess

  • Ive finished the book today but never seen the movie, but by the sound of all the comments, it sounds completely different from the book.. They should consider remaking the movie exactly like the book and I guarantee it will succeed beyond belief cause the book is phenomenal!

  • Good Grief....the book is way better...

  • Thumbs up that the book is better

  • @anitamata29 Is there really a comparison? OTL

  • @SuzakuTheShadow well, i love dean koontz books, a movie can't create the authors motivation and mystery as well as the book where we can visualize our own perspective and feel like were rite their in the moment. Not all people feel this way so they just like to watch movies which isn't bad but its an opinion.

  • What the heck is with all these other characters? In the book, after the Templeton family and the store clerks get offed, it's Chyna, Vess, Vess' dogs, the damned elk, and Ariel. That's it, and that's ALL you need. It's all Dean needed, for Pete's sake.

  • @fireproof30 who's pete?

  • Why can no one in this movie simply give their location and say theres been a murder

  • @Poetswar When you actually SEE murder? Dead bodies and whatnot? It's traumatizing to the point where you don't think clearly.

  • I am all for suspense, but like a M. Night Shamalad movie where the audience doesn't see the anagonist--ever, during the movie. In this movie, the antagonist doesn't meet the protagonist until long after the suspense has been milked to fossilization.

  • I bet the wolves were easier to train/tame for the movie ff

  • Yeah I know right... It was supposed to be elk, not wolves

  • Well, doesn't that just completely contradict the stereotype that old women drive slow, eh?

  • Wasnt Chyna supposted to see elk instead of wolves?

  • @Osiriss20 Apparently Hollywood didn't like that idea very much.

  • the old lady and the cop weren't in the book.. hmm..

  • @dianjc Apparently they didn't think that Chyna could do it all herself.

  • The black cop/actor in this movie also played in the movie "Watchers" which was also based on one of Dean Koontz's novels. Ironically, neither one of the characters he plays is in either of the books.

  • man that old lady can drive

  • Granny must have been pushing one fifty in that thing to catch up with him. Hell, he's crazy enough, maybe he's just driving slow, trying to use less gas from that thing's V10.

  • havent seen the movie or read the book in years. thanks!
