@RedRay81 Merchanting clans are about as useful as they've ever been now that there are no limits on the grand exchange - if an item is rising it is very easy to buy for say 5% more than the top price in GE, then sell for 10% more a day or so after

rough guide, simple maths, if you can get 10% profit 20 times in a month, then you can multiply your gold by (1.1)^20 = 6.7x

that's 45x in 2 months, that's 10mil gold --> 450mil gold, and like an hour every 1 or 2 days watching/investing on GE

and yeah, dont join clans, most of the time you will lose, and it's pretty limiting to partake in what your clan demands of you

Great to see an idea of mine mirrored by a competant merchanter. Calculus tells you stuff about curves, know that when a curve bends upwards, it will rise, when it bends down, it will fall, or could fall. Doesn't mean it will always rise, when it bends up, or always fall when it bends down, but search those graphs and you'll see so many examples of this happening, it will make sense to you. Of course, merchanted items wil just suddenly bottom out, so early sell may be best.

@Isotonic37 well, cus of the price dropping, a lot of people get scared and want to get rid of the item asap. Fastest way to do so is selling it for minimum price. Also when he bought so many of those nests, the supply completely crashed as he pretty much took all the nests out of the market. People who need the item have to wait long at this point and automaticly start paying more to get their items = price rise.

@Isotonic37 I forgot about this little detail :), yes prices rise due to buying at max price. But that's the trick, you want to make the market pay more to get your items, and make THEM raise the item's price instead.

Personally, the grand exchange data is crap. It only talks about the price changes, but doesnt give data on the volume of commodities/items traded, and the inelasticities of the supply and the demand. This is largely responsible for clan merchanters to take advantage of and scam members when necessary. It's really because of imperfect information and insider trading! JaGeX is dumb for not displaying such vital information in an economy!

I own my own clan (wont say its name) and its very good at making me and my friend money, we basically buy out a certain item, get hundreds of others to start buying it (We both spend around 200-300M when we are investing) We dump early, making around 50-100M profit, on one item I actually made a 150M profit with a 300M investment. People do make money from our clan, but not as much as us, and if they dump to late they may just break-even or even lose money.

@gekkoman2 yes it works. But then you will not make as much. I started doing some small buy low sell high with around 100k. Only made around 5-20K with those 100k, in a very short period of time.. So its not very effective, but investing with 100k can result into big cash, if you are abusing the merch clans investments...

Solo merching is much better/investing. Unless you got your own clan (Basically, having your own clan also means you rip other people off their gold, a ''legal'' scamming method).
