Dont forget to put 1:100 two stroke Oil API TC into the tank for each fill, because thats good for the carbs and the pistons..modern fuel does not take care of the old engine materials!

I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Sports Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Mercedes vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs and EFi injectors clean as new!

Some people installed Alloy Alfa Romeo 75 Arese V6 3000 into this car--I can tell you thats a good thing, that Alfa engine is more reliable than the 90 degrees V6 from maserati and it also consumes less petrol!

Precisely, this engine was the worst part of the car. A total unreliable piece of crap engine. Some French specialists worked on SM reliability, as Regembault, in the Lyon area, who replaced the original engine, or heavily worked on it. In terms of comfort, suspension, or roadholding, the SM was unbeatable. It seems, that there are some ignorant pricks on this forum.

A friend of mine's father had a similar one in 73, and despite its incredible qualities in terms of comfort or security, he told me at this time that "the engine was so unstable that the car spent more time at the Citroen mechanic that on the road" ;)

So sieht ein Citroen des Jahres 2009 aus und nicht wie dieser neue DS den die jetzt auf den Markt schmeißen...der neue DS ist ein Mini-Verschnitt und hat mit klassischem Citroen Design und den avantgardistischen Tugenden GAR NICHTS gemein. Der SM ist der ewig moderne DS Nachfolger--den sollte die wieder auflegen--meinetwegen auch mit Brennstoffzelle!

This is my all time favourite dream car its so sophisticated and looks still futuristic.
Today designers still have not surpassed this wonderfull spacedesign...the interior could have been designed by BANG AND OLUFSEN and Knoll and Arne Jacobsen its a real masterpiece !
