@SeeksOnlyJesusChrist Thanks, Tommy is a great songwriter and player but live he often plugs in, which is very practical but takes away some of the acoustic sound. Also he plays a million gigs a year. I often prefer the recorded album version over his live playing of some songs.

did awesome man i noticed tommy emmanuel is a hybrid picker i still need to get used to it i would play with my fingers but everytime i grow my fingernails out i bite them when im not paying attention but they're getting ok right now still growing them a bit i also use soft picks and its hard as hell to get it to touch the string and pick at the same time XD

He uses various styles, lot of his songs he use hybrid picking. It's hella useful style to know it gives great flexibility it style and tone.

I suggest a small hard pick like a dunlop jazzIII or similar, and I don't use nails I use fingertips so I don't have to worry about nails.

Hurts in the beginning but those callouses make some great picking skin mhm :)

The D-1 got a great sound for being a 'cheapo' Martin - if you can call anything Martin make 'cheap'. I had to compare it to a Taylor twice the price to find a better sound in the shop where I got it and I wanted a Les Paul too so I went for this one :)

Hey, did you record this song with the line6 toneport ux2? if so did you use gearbox? what preset? what type of microphone are you using?

Hi.

The mic is a TSM MT87S (it's a good budget deal), and yeah gearbox. No particular preset, just flat settings on the 'modern' pre-amp and compressor + reverb, the rest comes from the Martin. Also where you place the mic plays a big role when you record acoustic instruments :)
