  • Wonfhaile, where can we get the whole documentary? I would like to see the whole documentary before I make any comment.

  • (Wondhaile, sorry I mistyped your name on my firt post.)

  • I think the speaker on the clip is H Gerima and I can see that he knows what he is talking about. I do not have the "apetite" for films made in Ethiopai. BEYE TIGA TIGU TESERTO TARIK YIWETAWAL.

LEMESALE YE HERMELA TARIC BETAYU POLISOCHU YELEBESUT EGNA AGER YELELE NEW. AHUN FILMUN YEMIYAY YAGERE SEW ENIH DEMO MINDIN NACHEW YILAL (ENDE ENE MALET NEW). H Gerima said "ye etiopia film altewelede" Ye ene tiyake gin 'ye ethiopia film tetsenesoal wey'?? may be Gerima can tell me that.

  • Well said...you read my mind.

  • I am not saying that I am the best. I work hard to suprise white people to get money for my works. So if you are ethio show of your talent rich out as far as you can. You cauld garbe the turch.

  • Well this is B.S. What have, he done to promote young ethio talent? Huh..um..I have not seen a thing. Well he must have some advise to younger generation. I have spent seven years of my life studing film and TV production. At USLA,working with younger and Ind film producers but now I am working with NBC Af, and Internationl explore Ad AG. I am stil going and I am ethiopian and I have not came across any ethiopain filmamer who says he/she is the best.

  • Where can we find a copy of this project? Is it available for purchase?

  • I think this clip is sending the message Mr. Haile Gerima wanted to address. Film making in Ethiopia has grown rapidly. Demand and supply rising simultaneously. Perfect time for someone like Haile Gerima to shape up the direction the Ethiopian film industry should follow. There are films opening almost everyday, but 90% of them are pure junks. If Ethiopian cinema has not been born yet, who is better suited today to father that cinema than Haile Gerima himself. Just a thought

  • This is cool. Nice comment by Mr Gerima. But in some ways, I have to disagree with him. Not everybody is "EreGNa" by the way. Sounds like he's playa-hatin'. He is probably one of the very few well respected filmmakers Ethiopia has to offer. But I am starting to question his abilities since I have not seen any hit movies or film directed by him. If I were him, I would try a little harder to work with the current ambitious young ethiopian filmmakers.

  • This is a forty five minutes project the demo might send a false message.

    Thaks

  • since its only a demo i guess watching the whole 45 minute project would have been very interesting. Anyway thanks for posting. Ethiopia needs more intellectuals like Mr Girma.

  • he doesn't mean to say that everybody is "Eregna". In film making to express a love story of an Ethiopian he believes the musical sound of "washint" is something he knew since childhood (and most Ethiopians too) and suited to our Ethiopian identity than a Mozart's classical music.

  • Perfect

  • Thanks for the comment.
