  • Pfft. Laptops will never catch on.

  • I remember the first laptop I saw as a kid was this thinkpad 701c. I was fascinated by the fold-out keyboard at the time. All other laptops without the fold-out keyboards just didn't cut for me back when I was 7 years old...

  • Now Paul Reiser I can get into.

  • PS: If you want one too, I saw two of them on ebay.com (shipping USA and Canada)

man, if this beauty arrives, I'll install linux, and put it under the tree ;)

    THINKPAD RULES!!!

  • I own four Thinkpads now. My first one was a A31. Unfortunately it broke, but my dad had used it as business laptop before and it was already old so i bought a new one on ebay (A31p). At the moment I'm doing the most of my stuff on my TP R60 which I "pimped" to 4GB ram and an 60GB ssd. I can tell you, this thinkpad flies!

Since I'm such a Thinkpad fan (often used (work), but never owned another one) my dad bought me a 701c yesterday. I'm so excited right now. Can't wait till it finally arrives.

  • What a marvel of design.

And seriously, 4.5 pounds? That's still viable nowadays! A decade and a half in laptop years is... a lot of time, that's for sure.

  • What year was this commercial first aired? I am curious, was it the late 90's or early?

  • I guess it would be in the mid '90s as the computer was released in 1995.

  • I love how my 11 year old ThinkPad is lighter an smaller than my (now 2 year old) Dell... and while the Dell is falling apart, the antique IBM is in near perfect condition!

  • I wish Thinkpad would take back the innovative lead it had in the 90's.....they were hands down the best laptops out there.

but they are making a come back with models like the x300/301 series sleek while still keeping the traditional business look and feel.

And it is true, the thinkpad were ahead of it's time with the ultra portables and thin and light models... like the x365, 600, 701 etc....

  • thats a cool keyboard xD!

  • i have a t30 its great

  • I just LOOOOOVE that keyboard!

  • i had a 600 thinkpad and i fit it wit winodws xp then i got a t 30 and its great i modded it and upgradded it and everything so its basically beter then the new labtops....in performance but still thinkpads pwn!!!

  • I still have my 701CS.

The battery exploded though and I installed Windows 95... then Damn Small Linux.

  • LOL. "i installed windows 95 and the battery exploded..."

  • No, the battery exploded BEFORE I installed Windows 95. Although, I wouldn't be surprised if a computer self destructed after having Windoh's installed...

  • just a joke lol. i was makin fun of win 95. no hard feelings, it brings back some good times, and a broken mouse.

  • 1 word

    BALLIN!!!!!!!!!!

  • i have a 750c.

  • i have one.

  • Thinkpads Rock!

  • I've owned and still have a number of Thinkpads, including one of these, some 360 series, a 360PE (pen), 755 series, 380xd, three 600X series, and a little compact (small keyboard) 500 or 510, I forget. I also have a VERY rare "PCradio" a rom based unit with a built in cell transceiver for data transfer in the field.

  • THE BEST THINKPAD IN THE WHOLE SERIES

THE LEGEND OF THE BUTTERFLY I JUST LOVE IT

I hope IBM/Lenovo redesign this but with a faster BUS architecture, processing speed, larger disk capacity and memory. ^^

  • Wow, that keyboard is sexy.

    I want that laptop.

  • ibm computers is the most pro in it's class

  • I still love my butterfly (701cs) to this date.

  • Why did they bother to put Paul Reiser's head there? That's r-tarded.

  • great video....thinkpads are the gold standard for notebook computing.
