Whoa...long time Deadhead here....these guys got the whole GDTRFB tune down right. Lover Vassar, but he's just dressing here. This band got the essence of the Dead and I'm going to check their other stuff out.
Again, these guys are really good! James really makes this version go, with his propulsive and novel bass line for this tune. I like his bass, too. I've always wanted one of those electric/acoustic basses, like Jack Cassady played (only Jack's was an Epiphone, while James plays a Guild...I didn't even know Guild produced those!) How lucky they were to have Vassar sitting in. How did that come about?

Actually Jerry (aka James) was the guitarist, Ronmeister is the bass player, and Vassar was a good friend of the band and played with us quite often
