Personally I like Kyou's dub; however the dubber could have put a little more effort in making her voice sound a bit more professional. I've seen worser dubs people. Check out the non funimation dub for fairy tail. You'll shoot yourself.

Someone please tell me the later episodes are better... Okazaki's voice... I thought he looked a lot like Hinata (Angel Beats) at first but... the voice just doesn't fit him at all.... Not sure if this is true with later episodes or in the After Story, but Tomoya's english actor says "Fujibashi" instead of "Fujibayashi" in the first few episodes. You can hear it in this clip.
I think Shelley Calene-Black was miscast as Kyou, but Sentai had limited resources so they probably didn't have much of a choice.
I actually like the actress quite a bit, but I'd be the first to admit that her vocal range is extremely limited. Still, I'm happy with the casting of virtually every other character, so I don't think it's that big a deal.
@qaiex no, they released both subbed and dubbed versions. you have to understand that, in order for an anime to become more popular in english speaking countries, dubbing it allows the anime to reach a wider range of people. it's better for the success of the anime for them to dub it. so whether or not you like dubbed versions, it's always better for it to have a dubbed version as well (though good voice actors would be preferable of course).
@qaiex you missed the point of what i said completely. if you don't want to watch the dubbed version, then no one is forcing you to. but having the option of there being a dubbed version is good for the success of the anime. besides, although a lot of animes sound better subbed, there are some that actually sound better dubbed. for example, when the anime characters live in an english speaking country, it makes more sense that they would be speaking english.

Honestly considering all the voices I've heard I only disliked Sunohara's voice, I think the JP voices are better but at least with English Dub you don't have to keep your eyes fixed to the bottom of the screen.

Like when they called Ryou, "Roe"... come on, it can't be THAT hard to say it like "Rio"... at least that would be closer (and you wouldn't have to mimic the accent, either.). I can prove almost every argument that dub-haters send at me as invalid. @oathkeeper5891 I like dubs because I like voice acting and liberal translations. Even when the voice acting is bad, seeing a different take on the same source material is cool. In Clannad's case, I think the acting and casting were good but the translation started off rocky.
There are some dubs I don't like (Voices of a Distant Star) and there are some I like better than the JP track (Rumbling Hearts). It's all case-by-case, and anyone who says otherwise is just an elitist punk.

Unless we're talking about dubs by companies like 4KIDS, it's rare that I will say that one is better than the other because both will have their merits. But I tend to watch the dubs first. Ryou is really good, like really seriously good didn't think they were gonna pull it off good. Got the character right, sounds exactly like the original seiyuu, even decently written, absolutely no room for complaint good.

I think the voices sound pretty good, but you really can't judge based on a few one minute clips. That seems a little silly to me, just watch more and judge then.
You're exactly right. I watched the English Dub to Gravitation... Not too long ago, I guess? It, like, messed with my entire view on that series. My mind just literally shriveled up.

I think the voices sound pretty good, but you really can't judge based on a few one minute clips. That seems a little silly to me, just watch more and judge then.

@tobiitachishow1 Actually, Brittney Karbowski(Ryou) would have been a fine VA if they didn't have her practically whisper all her lines. And Greg Ayres(Sunohara) would have been fine if they didn't make him pitch up his voice. In a couple cases, it's not bad casting, just bad directing.
