  • You know that they sell Apple Cider Vinegar tablets, don't you? You can buy them at any health store...I take 2 per meal to lower my blood sugar and lose weight...no horrible taste!

  • The key is portion control not eating healthy. You can eat pretty much anything, but as long as you don't go overboard eating it you'll be fine. I've lost 30 lbs in 3 months. the last 6 due to exercise and cutting back on my portions. Also, I only eat until I'm full, not stuffed.

  • I know you've lost a lot of weight before, and so have I (sadly, I gained a lot back). Best solution is to eat home as much as you possibly can. You can never know the amount of oil they cook in in restaurants, and you don't have control over portions that way. Since you eat a lot outside, you might want to get Ken to work his magic and cook you healthy, balanced meals ;)

  • I tried the vinegar thing. Just gave me heartburn. Also I know everyone said this, but mix it with water. Especially because it's really bad for your teeth undiluted.

    I don't think you really need to diet, cause your not overweight. Just eat healthy and at steady times (no breakfast at 4) and exercise. But you exercise, right?

    The last 10 pounds are always the hardest. Especially because others say you don't need it and you just think: But I want it!

  • I'm not a dietitian or a nutritionist BUT it's my understand that the "no food after..." is 3 hrs before you plan on sleeping. If you don't go to bed until 3am every night, you'll be starving by the time you finally go to sleep and you're more likely to eat something you don't want. Obviously it goes both ways, you go to bed at 10, eating until 9 doesn't benefit you. Just stop well before you go to bed and you should be okay.

  • Just eat less and move more. Eat less is more important. Screw all that vinegar schtick.Good luck with the weight DO IT NOW - it just gets worse if you dont.

  • ALSO....Don't do the vinegar thing..it doesn't speed up your metabolism, it just makes you lose your appetite before a meal(so basically save the two spoonfuls of vinegar before breakfast, lunch and dinner.)

    What speeds up your metabolism is Hot Sauce..the hotter the better, Spicy things speed up your metabolism, Cayenne pepper, hot sause, stuff like those.

    We'll be your accountability :) Try eating something whole grain for breakfast. And you should eat a banana every day. I have two chocolate chip waffles for breakfast (no syrup or anything, just warm waffles) and a banana. The waffles are like 260 calories for both, and the whole grain helps me feel full longer. The chocolate chip gives it a little flavor/sweetness, and chocolate is good for you :) And bananas are a super fruit! So good for you!

  • You should try soya milk. It's packed with vitamins. Also, blueberries are good. They firm up the collagen in your skin to prevent sagging :D

  • Try have heaps of yoghurt! It's super yummy and fights off the ice-cream cravings! And drink water, green tea, make sure you try and eat a rainbow everyday :D (see if you can have every colour in the rainbow on your dish, like red = tomatoes, orange = carrot, yellow = bananas etc.). OH! And if you love spicy food, eat that everyday. Heaps the metabolism! I'm joining in with your healthy eating too! Good luck :D

  • Nick - just some helpful tips that have helped me. Firstly, make breakfast & lunch your BIGGEST meals, and lunch lighter than the previous two. Eat every 2 - 3 hours, not an actual meal, but more like a powered snack that will help boost your metabolism. Be sure to eat balanced meals. 1 protein, 1 carb, and at least 2 veggies. When you go shopping, stay on the aisles outside of the market. The ones that walk you around the store. All the other aisles are full of temptations! You can do it!

  • Noooooooo! Don't drink that Apple Cider Vinegar and don't drink it straight. You need to find the Bragg's Organic Apple Cider vinegar. It contains all the "good" stuff that is filtered out of most store bought vinegars. Also, mixing with with a little bit of water and honey or mixing it into low-sodium V8 is really good. Straight vinegar is rough and not that great on your teeth to drink straight all the time. Just a heads up! :)

  • This is what I do. I'm not the skinniest person ever but what helps me is this. I eat whatever I want, I have an Italian mother & she cooks the BEST/WORST food. 1. Portion control. I eat off of small plates to help me with this. 2. I go out to eat maybe only once a month cause you never know what's in the food. 3. It takes longer than normal but I cook everything from scratch. You know everything in it & after I'm done I don't find myself as hungry as I would be by not cooking.

  • Good tip for weight loss - take a 'cheat day' once every week where you eat whatever the hell you want to the point of being ill.

    Why? Well firstly you get your fix, secondly you slightly associate that food with feeling ill and run down but finally; and most importantly - it spikes your insulin levels, which basically tells your body to burn energy.

  • I'm sure you know this, but make sure to drink a lot of water, get eight hours of sleep, and exercise along with eating healthy. get more of your fats from plants like almonds, olive oil, and avocados. In fact, reduce the meat intake to about one meal a day. That'll work the weight down. :)

    You're supposed to dilute it in a cup of water, it's terrible for your throat and teeth if you drink it without diluting it.

    Diluting it in ice tea is what made it bearable for me, not hot tea, hot liquids make it less effective.

  • I'd say that your worst habit is freaking out over what you eat. You can eat the calzone, you can eat birthday cake, you can eat whatever you want. You just need to A) control your portions and B) remember everything in moderation. As soon as you start thinking of a diet as "limiting" your options, you are going to sabotage your progress.

    By the way, you are skinny already. Just thought you would like to be reminded of that.

  • Starting on a healthier lifestyle would be a great way to lose the weight you dislike. Going on a quick fix diet never keeps the weight off. I've been maintaining a 100 lb weight loss for almost four years now by making healthy choices 80-90% of the time.

    You can track the food you're eating and the exercise you're doing online (which is how I lost my weight). This is so not meant to be an ad, but I used SparkPeople since it's free. But do what works for you and you'llbe successful! :)

  • I don't know about it increasing metabolism, but I know apple cider vinegar is a terrific hangover cure.

    Disclaimer: For use only on those mornings where it really truly seems like death is a better option than getting out of bed.

    Step 1: Take about a cup of vinegar, and drink as much of it as you can as quickly as you can. Make sure there's nothing between you and the toilet.

    Step 2: Vomit

    Step 3: Vomit some more.

    Step 4: Keep vomiting.

    Step 5: ???

    Step 6: More vomit.

    Step 7: Profit.

  • Fruit juice makes apple cider vinegar easier to drink.

  • If you eat small meals every two or three hours and drink a total of half your body weight in ounces of water a day, along with exercise of course, you'll notice a huge improvement. Plus you're pretty much easting all day and who doesn't love that?

  • I just started eating healthy too, I think the best thing to do is to just cut out all fast food (I used to eat a lot), and just stick to a daily amount of calories, or under it. Obviously this is what's working for me, may be different for everyone haha. But if you have an iPhone there's an app called myfitnesspal that helps you record all your food and exercise, that works awesome for me :D

  • what i did when i started eating healthier is;

    i started drinking more water. i set a goal (certain amount of bottles/glasses a day and slowly added to that). then i started making sure i touched all food groups daily. i still ate my fast food, but i also added fruits/veggies and other things i wasnt already eating. this helped me substitute the bad for the good and got me into a good routine =)

  • Noooo that "no eating past so and so time" thing is a total wives tale!! unless you plan to go to sleep only a little bit after 9 oclock. but if you stay up late (late like... 12-1AM) your body has no food to run off of and thus begins to burn glycogen stores, which will eat away at your muscle mass and slowly lower your metabolism. So in the long run, you will gain weight if you don't eat shortly before sleeping.
