You can say the British shrank India's share of the global economy. You can also argue that India's successes in the world economy were diminishing anyway by the time of the industrial revolution. You can say Britain did not pay enough attention to the famines. You could also say that Britain introduced a good civil service to India. We modernized the Indian economy.
