  • That is the biggest fretboard I have ever seen.

  • favorite guitarist...he's totally unique...no one earth plays like he does! awesome!

  • Two dislikes. Haters gonna hate. -.-

  • one of my uncles did sound for eric and he said hes a bit off.

  • this song has been my ringtone since you could chose ringtones on a phone. it has no expiration date. fact.

  • This is a great song and the video is original and refreshingly unlike anything else around.

  • fucking 90s

  • this is a really good video and the song is amazing!!!

    Eric Johnson... You're my Idol!!!

    OMG!

    :D

  • just 96000???? this should have millions of views; I love Eric Johnson music and technique, and obviously my influence in guitar

  • I think they cut too much of the song away. I'm surprised no one else mentioned it. They shortened some of the best parts of the song.

  • @nimaside Glad to see another musical purist out there. I can't stand it when radio stations shorten songs up, thinking people like us wouldn't notice.

  • ony 93k views? Wow makes me sad to think so few people will ever know the incredible genius that Eric Johnson is. An amazing musician.

  • i play super smash brothers to this

  • Playing Gameboy Color and listening to Eric Johnson is an amazing experience.

  • I have this song as a school project. It's quite cool.

  • I find really hard to believe that someone in their right mind would dislike this video.

  • Amazing!!!! Just one guitar master like Jhonson can make this song possible!!!!!

  • Why does this music not get the recognition it deserves? Seriously, what is not to love about this? Everything is perfect!

  • Gods came down to earth and disguised themselves as horses just to enjoy EJ's Trademark.

  • Excerpt from a Pantene commercial. 2:32 !

  • This is my roading jam! :D

  • Thumbs down for Vevo/EMI ads, assholes

  • @jenetik0 You don't want thumbs down or your comment will disappear for negative reviews, pal. Cheers!

  • Awsome Guitar Dude!!!!!!!

  • me encanto el video este

    aguante Eric Jonhson

  • wow, I have to watch an ad now? this used to be free

  • Thanks Eric for this awesome moment in my life...

  • The horses, the girl running and EJ standing on top of that mountain I like. The rest of the vid is just cheesy filling. Alright, the notation sheets caught by the breeze are pretty cool too and that one sequence of the drummer really getting into it. The rest could be edited away for what I care.

  • computer generated spinning mailbox

  • How can this have ONLY 81,798 views!!!!! IT'S AWESOME!!!!! :DD

  • everyone can play guitar .... but very few rock :)

  • Another great song by this great musician. Awesome video!

  • Those of you who don't understand the video, and weren't around then, refer to Charlie Murphy vs. Prince. "What was wild was like, the guy who looked most like a bitch was gettin' all the woman. Even I had the jheri curls comin' out..."

  • I love this song. The video is pretty cool too.

  • There's nothing wrong with this fucking video!

  • I love this song, but holy crap this video is CHEESY!

  • @orangyalt lol i was thinking the same thing haha

  • @orangyalt please direct me to your video, which is so much better.

  • @sparky7718 I shouldn't neede a video to state what I thought about the video the first time I saw it

  • @sparky7718 music is good video is terrible. this isn't even debatable.

  • god i love this guy!

  • I wonder who the clueless loser who gave this a thumbs down is?

  • @gotanesp Probably some justin beiber tween idiot who stumbled in here by accident. Obviously a moron...

  • dios

  • F**ck, I love this song!, for me is the best Eric`s song. the feeling he puts on every fret is unique, he doesn't need to be as fast as Yngwie Malmsteen to be one of the best guitar players of the world, his playing is smooth and full of feeling!!

  • @milcio79 eric he is fast though

  • Waouh. That's a cheap video!

But a great song, a great player, and I had fun watching some strange flying items.

  • Eric is so good he doesn't even have to plug in his Strat to make it make sounds. 00:52

  • Damn his chords are so damn wonderful...Brilliant...Just wish the cat had less cheezy videos...Ahh the 80's.... :) Love him, don't get me wrong...Bad vids thought...Sprinting horses...???? Is that really necessary?

  • buena composicion, el video no me parece malo :)

  • How do you learn to play like him... i mean do you start first learning scales and then chords or opposite.

  • @71GA As everything in life, experience is the main master my friend, when you practice his songs, you notice the style, tempos, etc... Good Luck friend ;)

  • I agree lousy video but cool tune

  • it's too bad this guy doesn't have more stuff.

  • About the video, it's like this :

The beautiful girl is drawn to Eric, enthralled by his beautiful music.

However, so divine is the music flowing from Eric's guitar that Eric is himself enraptured by the music, and thus fails to even notice the beautiful girl. The girl, realizing that even her beauty, great as it is, stands little chance of of drawing Eric out from the spell of the enchanting music flowing from Eric's guitar, turns and runs away.

Man, now that's Poetry for you !

  • i did not know that ellen played guitar

  • @iloveamerica11 LMAO

  • The song is a million times better than the video. I think i could be a big hit

  • where did eric get all these incredible tones, melodies... was he born with a fender strat on his hand... gosh that must have been painfull....but thank god he was born

  • Can't stand that f***ing ad showing shitty Katy Perry. Just can't stand it.

  • one of the greatest songs and worse damn video every

  • what is up with the horses and all those shit?

  • @mwcjordan Maybe if you'd know where Eric comes from you would understand... It is all about beauty (any kind of)... Sadly most of people doesn't see what some of us do.

  • @mwcjordan he's from texas

  • God this video sucks. The guitar is awesome though.

  • cancion favorita mi inspiracion salu2

  • LMAO!!!

  • The more I listen to Eric Johnson I think he must have sold his soul to the devil to play like that. Just kidding - he has so much soul!! beautiful sounds, virtuoso technique with musical artistry. He does it all. Check out his acoustic guitar work - same awesome mastery. Gives me goosebumps!

  • i don't think this video is bad, i think eric just wanted to put things in his video that were of value to him... nature, love, and his passion. can't appreciate it? well that's just the difference between you and him.

  • You don't see too many music videos for instrumental songs.

  • Did anyone else see Gandalf say YOU WILL NOT PASS to the wind near the end of the song?

  • can't wait to see him live in southern california - check out web: lord of the strings concerts - this Jan 15, 2010!!! yippee!

  • What did he smoked when he made this video?! Jesus man, your music is good enough without those damn music videos...

  • His own music speaks words to me that mean more then a song with lyrics

  • @raybone18

best words, it's defo how it feels when listening to him

  • 1:25 hahaha lovin the dance

  • who is the one and only fool who do not likes this

    1 dislikes

  • That rock pile looks familiar... I keep waiting for Fezzik to come out & threaten someone with a boulder!

  • @10tillsundown Well who do you think found all those horses? :)

  • @10tillsundown I think Vizzini would have said about Eric Johnson, "He's that good at guitar? Inconceivable!" :)

  • mail boxes stop horses tnahks eric another god learned lesson

  • Flying mailboxes FTW!

  • what sort of horse is that?

  • Love this song!,... hopefully the video had a budget of $50-, and Feed 35 people off the dollar menu at Mcdonalds!

  • oh! the true music is so good...

  • Hmmm...first listen...good American Perfectionism and Mullet.........Not Marl Knopfler or Eric Tho'..........All a bit cinical....Al!!

  • i can't believe that 20 years ago they would play this on rock radio (wrif in detroit)...now....fat chance! tremendous song and a fantastic player!

  • 기타선율이 예술인 에릭존슨횽의 Trademark.

  • buen video y exelente rola!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Perfection is Eric Johnsons business and business is GOOD

  • This is Eric Johnson's best song he has made in my opinion. Love this song!

  • GOD I LOVE HIS FLAWLESS PLAYING!!

  • Saw him on this tour. Wonderful guitar player. I've liked him for 22 years.

  • Who the fuck is the ONE person who gave this song a 'thumbs down'?!?

If this wasn't Eric Johnson, I would refuse to believe this music is coming from a guitar..

  • @WhatTheCucumber I would`nt go that far.

  • shame about the mullet (2)

  • lol is he missing a string?

  • Haha, cheesy video but I'd rather watch this then most of the stuff that's on tv these days

  • did anybody else notice that the main riff sounds like fear of the dark? (when it goes into the clean channel)

  • Great song. Irritating video.

  • Excellent

  • Perfect tone. Perfect player.

  • shame about the mullet....

  • @thedogduncan It's a Love Mullet

  • TEXAS BABY!!!!!!!!!

  • Everyone is a great guitar player no matter who it is. Whether it be Yngwie, Eric or even Ace Frehley, I have enjoyed them all.

It would be borderline retarded to sit there an assume all of them in a room competing with each other.

This is an art, not a sport. Want to see a competition, check out the Slam Dunk contest.

  • @tangledline most sense of any comment on here!

  • @tangledline Thank you - I wonder what inspires the idea of competition so many people here seem to have. I should stop reading the comments really, they always drive me slightly mad.

Oh well, I guess I endure the bad ones for the couple of sensible posts, like yours =).

  • @tangledline that's it men, you said it all. totally agree!!!

  • LEGENDARY

  • i actually love this video am the only one?

  • @ubbddu No, you're not. I enjoy trying to co-relate the music and the images.

  • 1:55 wtf? flying mailbox? xD

  • Classic example of "Good song and writer, but shitty ass video".

  • Good song and guitarist but lame video he also looks like a member of Wham.

  • i love this song

  • eric johnson ftw! and does anybody else hate the new layout on youtube?

  • form 1:25 - 2:17 is my favorite part of the song. i love this song soo much! i love the beutiful horses too!

  • It seems to me that, over the years, " Cliffs Of Dover " has always gotten much more attention than this song, but I've always liked this song SO much more!!

  • cool song

  • one of my fav songs ever.love the smooth style he plays.this whole album is great.

  • Best...studio guitar...EVER!

  • fav part 1:20 - 1:35

  • 3:42 what a beautiful sound

  • Anyone know what reverb pedal he uses?

  • @REPTARisGNARLY On the clean stuff he used a vintage Electro-Harmonix Deluxe Memory Man and a Maestro Echoplex tape delay two Fender Twin reverbs.

  • Cry Baby most likely. He is quite fond of them :D

  • @REPTARisGNARLY:

The comment below by writesnews is 100% correct on Eric's analog delays. Plus Eric has been using the MXR-1500 digital rack unit since 1986 for front end delay effects on some tunes.

  • @REPTARisGNARLY

Nah he'd use the reverb in his amp, old fenders, Twin Reverbs.

  • Great song. Makes me want to listen to this while driving for some reason.

  • yea when i play this cd in the car or truck i step on the gas.great song to drive to.

  • what a horrendous video!!!!! amazing playing nonetheless...

  • Amazing...and he´s playing only pentatonics...Nice!

  • nono, the video is fantastic too.

I´ve already seen for a hundred times!

  • the layering at the start of the outro 4:01-4:04 is superb. is that a synth kbd or synth pedal sound underneath his lead?

  • major talent

  • is it me or is the guitar used for close ups missing the G string?

  • yngwie may be fast and he is a great player but he doesnt have the quality of versatality as eric johnson. PERIOD

  • @layzsailor

    nor the humility

  • @layzsailor MICHAEL TSARION IS THE WORLDS PREMIER CONSPIRACY RESEARCHER/LECTURER/AUTHOR. DR. BILL DEAGLE AND JORDAN MAXWELL ARE HIGHLY INFORMATIVE AS WELL. P.S. MELTING EUPHORIA IS A HOLISTIC PSYCHEDELIC PROG ROCK BAND THAT IS ANOW DEFUNCT BUT HAS FOUR STUDIO CD'S AND ARE SIMILAR TO OZRIC TENTACLES AND GONG.

  • @layzsailor True that brother...Yngwie is good in his own way but has a shit attitude which reflects negativity. I met him through my cousin who played with him in Sweden. Johnson has that love that pours straight from his guitar into my heart and the hearts of many of you. This song is just amazing.

  • @layzsailor You're forgetting the fact that technically yngwie only has one song that he's renamed a thousand times now.

  • @layzsailor

    yes

  • was that his wife in the pink?

  • You can tell it's Eric Johnson with just one note

  • nice music but video is soooo weird!

  • Terrible video, great song.

  • @surfingsuicune what a trip.

  • such insane quality, i love it

  • who posts this on an eric johnson vid?

  • Two Words Tone

    Tone.

  • awful video

  • does anyone else find themselves yelling "duck!!" to the girl in this video at 2:38? *chuckles*

  • I don't know which I enjoy more - the fringe jacket in this video or the puffy pirate shirt EJ wears in the Steppin' Out performance from the Texas Woodlands! Both great!

In all seriousness, this is one of EJ's best songs - it demonstrates the rich palette of tones that he coaxes out of his guitar. He's waaaay more multi-faceted than these shredders who only can play in one style.

  • i love the song but that is one of the worst music videos ever made

    3d mailbox ?

  • God Bless Eric Johnson he is the coolest. I could listen to this song a thousand times and it would never get old

  • The clip is silly...

But it's an amazing song... one of his best!

  • Does anyone suppose that the meaning of his songs get lost in our awe of his technicality? Not to sound like some douche bag smarty pants on youtube, but seriously. I have to listen to it over and over again to get the meaning, otherwise I'm lost in the amazing chops.

  • No way. His technical ability is one of the main aspects of his playing that gets the meaning of songs across to the listener, as is with most virtuosic players.

  • How about Yngwie?

  • What about Yngwie?

  • what about him?

  • que tema tan bello.

  • The Master himself...the Mozart of guitar... i love him so much... Eric "Mr. Tone" Johnson !! God bless him !!

  • What a great guitarist...I've had the pleasure to see him live a couple times and he is purely amazing...One of the best concerts I've seen was when he opened for Joe Satriani a couple years back ! Thanks for posting

  • Was it on Anaheim?

Johnson recorded a DVD from a show he opened for Satriani on 2006... named Anaheim!

  • The show I saw him was in detroit

  • Ive seen him live myself back in 99... he put on a great show... Derick Trucks Band opened for him... Thats before Derick Truck became famous... i saw him out in the parking lot unloading equipment from the tour bus not even knowing who he was lol

  • This was on MTV in 1991-I actually saw it a few times. The best living guitarist in my humble opinion. And this is probably top 5 of my favorite songs by ej

  • i have always wonder why this song was so underrated, i think it is one his most expressive. Though not necessarily his most technical.

  • I believe this song actually went higher on the chart than Cliffs of Dover-I believe to #8. I would love to have this video released in Hi-Def, along with Zap. A beautiful tune indeed.
