@nimaside Glad to see another musical purist out there. I can't stand it when radio stations shorten songs up, thinking people like us wouldn't notice.
The horses, the girl running and EJ standing on top of that mountain I like. The rest of the vid is just cheesy filling. Alright, the notation sheets caught by the breeze are pretty cool too and that one sequence of the drummer really getting into it. The rest could be edited away for what I care.
Those of you who don't understand the video, and weren't around then, refer to Charlie Murphy vs. Prince. "What was wild was like, the guy who looked most like a bitch was gettin' all the woman. Even I had the jheri curls comin' out..."
F**ck, I love this song!, for me is the best Eric`s song. the feeling he puts on every fret is unique, he doesn't need to be as fast as Yngwie Malmsteen to be one of the best guitar players of the world, his playing is smooth and full of feeling!!
Damn his chords are so damn wonderful...Brilliant...Just wish the cat had less cheezy videos...Ahh the 80's.... :) Love him, don't get me wrong...Bad vids thought...Sprinting horses...???? Is that really necessary?
@71GA As everything in life, experience is the main master my friend, when you practice his songs, you notice the style, tempos, etc... Good Luck friend ;)
The beautiful girl is drawn to Eric, enthralled by his beautiful music.
However, so divine is the music flowing from Eric's guitar that Eric is himself enraptured by the music, and thus fails to even notice the beautiful girl. The girl, realizing that even her beauty, great as it is, stands little chance of of drawing Eric out from the spell of the enchanting music flowing from Eric's guitar, turns and runs away.
where did eric get all these incredible tones, melodies... was he born with a fender strat on his hand... gosh that must have been painfull....but thank god he was born
@mwcjordan Maybe if you'd know where Eric comes from you would understand... It is all about beauty (any kind of)... Sadly most of people doesn't see what some of us do.
The more I listen to Eric Johnson I think he must have sold his soul to the devil to play like that. Just kidding - he has so much soul!! beautiful sounds, virtuoso technique with musical artistry. He does it all. Check out his acoustic guitar work - same awesome mastery. Gives me goosebumps!
i don't think this video is bad, i think eric just wanted to put things in his video that were of value to him... nature, love, and his passion. can't appreciate it? well that's just the difference between you and him.
@tangledline Thank you - I wonder what inspires the idea of competition so many people here seem to have. I should stop reading the comments really, they always drive me slightly mad.
Oh well, I guess I endure the bad ones for the couple of sensible posts, like yours =).
It seems to me that, over the years, " Cliffs Of Dover " has always gotten much more attention than this song, but I've always liked this song SO much more!!
The comment below by writesnews is 100% correct on Eric's analog delays. Plus Eric has been using the MXR-1500 digital rack unit since 1986 for front end delay effects on some tunes.
@layzsailor MICHAEL TSARION IS THE WORLDS PREMIER CONSPIRACY RESEARCHER/LECTURER/AUTHOR. DR. BILL DEAGLE AND JORDAN MAXWELL ARE HIGHLY INFORMATIVE AS WELL. P.S. @layzsailor True that brother...Yngwie is good in his own way but has a shit attitude which reflects negativity. I met him through my cousin who played with him in Sweden. I don't know which I enjoy more - the fringe jacket in this video or the puffy pirate shirt EJ wears in the Steppin' Out performance from the Texas Woodlands! Both great!
In all seriousness, this is one of EJ's best songs - it demonstrates the rich palette of tones that he coaxes out of his guitar. He's waaaay more multi-faceted than these shredders who only can play in one style.
