@akguitar94 You'll think they're bats&it crazy when you first arrive and for at least a week or two. Once you get things down, it gets a little better as far as that goes. Don't know much about marines, but like the Air Force and Army, they compete for points for having the best flight or platoon or whatever. You do get bad apples, they should never do something to outright delay your training, like drinking out of a toilet etc. But they will push you. Good luck! And get in shape b4 u go!

Marines cant be dumb, cause they have to have high grades in high school; they dont accept the GED anymore, and thats a good thing, since you cant join the corps just to get out of school. plus to be in a high prestige unit like Recon and MARSOC, you have to have a high ASVAB score

Most Vietnam vets at least know how to spell, and most Marines at least know Corps history. Le Duc Tho is the one who declared that we won, and because the planned Communist invasion of the Philippines never happened, we still did accomplish something even though the Commies broke the cease-fire agreements.

Marines cant be dumb, cause they have to have high grades in high school; they dont accept the GED anymore, and thats a good thing, since you cant join the corps just to get out of school. plus to be in a high prestige unit like Recon and MARSOC, you have to have a high ASVAB score

@hacksaw8214 Your profile says you're 40. The North surrendered in the Paris Peace Accords in 1973. The Marine Raider battalions were all disbanded on 8 JAN 44. It is the year 2010. Do the math.
I never regretted a single day in the Army Infantry. I will not regret a single day in the Marine Corps Infantry either, when that time comes.

Oh get History book. North Vietnam never surrenderd. In 1974 we declared we won, and left in a hurry, while North Vietnam took over the South. Ok door knob I tried to give you some advice from experiance. Now go have some fun and go join the Marines.

@hacksaw8214 7th Marines? There were only four raider battalions, all of them disbanded in WWII. The Raider Regiment was reflagged as 4th Marines. Most Vietnam vets at least know how to spell, and most Marines at least know Corps history. Le Duc Tho is the one who declared that we won, and because the planned Communist invasion of the Philippines never happened, we still did accomplish something even though the Commies broke the cease-fire agreements.

You wouldnt appreciate it at the time when they are pitting in your face and kicking sand in your eyes. but afterwards you feel amazing - i got ITd on every quarter deck in the company once, before and after becoming a sugar cookie. it was awesome.

But some people just take this route as an alternative to going to college, not FULLY because they want to serve the country. And even then, most go to college afterwards.
