i just bought the first season of serenity the ty show for my dad on christmas. it was the very first show we watched on tv that day. he said he misses the show and wishes it was back on tv.
Fox made such a mistake when they stopped this show...not only because we loved it but because they could have made a lot of money off of it if they hadn't messed up
Fox screwed the pooch and aired the episodes out of order. Viewers had no idea what was happening in the show, so they didn't watch it. The show was cancelled because it didn't have the ratings. Simple and unfair.

Im not comparing this to Star Treck just the way its rateings started, Star Treck started out with horrible rateings. look at where it is now. how it grew, This show was amasing. and if it was givein time., i think it would have grown into something beautiful to.

The cult following this show has reminds me of The Office's first season, and you see where that show went. I am by no means saying that the show would have done gangbusters, but I think the following would have built in a way to sustain a large profit had Fox handled the series right.

@DraftMasterJohn Not sure exactly how it works, but I'm pretty certain that Fox has the production rights to Firefly just like how EA has the production rights to Madden. No other company can produced/distribute the same thing as Firefly until Fox releases its rights.

The Firefly series had 15 hour episodes. 11 initially, 3 originally unairred, and the 1st one was a two part one, to make the total to 15 in the box set. What if there were 65 more episodes. are you guys serious? the Galactica would destroy any Serenity ships...if it can take on Cylon Basestars several times, to say nothing of the fact that the BSG has nukes, I highly doubt the ships in this low budget, overrated Joss Whedon show would be any match.

You see the Halloween episode of Castle where at the beginning of the show he puts on a costume and he came out the door dressed like Mal. He told his daughter of the show that he was a space cowboy. His daughter then said, "That is so 5 years ago." It was such a cool reference to Firefly by Nathan Fillion himself. There was even a Buffy reference.

@DraftMasterJohn Not sure exactly how it works, but I'm pretty certain that Fox has the production rights to Firefly just like how EA has the production rights to Madden. No other company can produced/distribute the same thing as Firefly until Fox releases its rights.

@WoWrowrin I hear you there, WOW, but somehow they were able to make Serenity with Universal, I'd think there could be some way to make another show under some similar sort of deal. And in my opinion, an animated series might be the best way to go.

@DraftMasterJohn as far as an animated series goes, i think cowboy beebop is like firefly in alot of ways so it's like there already is an animated series for firefly. and really, that should be as far as it goes in my opinion. how can you animate that which already kicks ass in live action?

@BlackAngel001 I hear you BackAngel001, I don't know anything about cowboy Beebop, other than it is itself and not Firefly. To your question: "How can you NOT animate something that kicks ass in live action?" is a more worthy question. The Firefly series had 15 hour episodes. 11 initially, 3 originally unairred, and the 1st one was a two part one, to make the total to 15 in the box set. What if there were 65 more episodes. I think that would be awesome. Don't you? Why not right?

@DraftMasterJohn you're right that cowboy beebop is itself and not firefly, wasn't trying to say that. just that in some ways they are similar. and as far as an animated series goes, they could very easily screw it up; fox is very good at doing that and they won't sell the rights so the only way we could get it really good animated is through someone else...

@BlackAngel001 True, you are still missing my point. They already made a live action movie without any Fox imput or interferrances (spl*). Fox does not own the rights to say "Captain Mal"!!! They only own the rights to the PREVIOUSLY ALREADY MADE EPISODES!!! They don't own the rights to futures stories with those fictional characters. It'd probably be touchy referrencing something that happened in one of those episodes, but JOSS WHEDON owns the characters, ship, planets ect. 'The Verse'!!!

@BlackAngel001 I'm just saying to make NEW stories with OLD characters. Fox owns FIREFLY the show and all its 15 HOURS of episodes. They don't own the likenesses of future things. They don't own the actual spaceship Serenity, nor, Mal, nor Zoe, nor Washburn ect. They just own what was previously made. Joss Whedon owns the characters and ship and such. They could make a cartoon series as long as it didn't copy an early show. They could make a cartoon called THE ADVENTURES OF MALCOLM REYNOLDS!!!

Not campy Transformers: Animated. I was thinking top notch, John Woo / Appleseed type animation. Now when I say Whedon, Serenity, Woo, and Appleseed in the same paragraph,... doesn't your nethers start to tingle a bit fearce?

There is no fullr Version of this song ( in fact this is the "full" version) , but there is a song called "Mal's Song", which is some kind of an extended Version performed by Escape Key.
The singer of the original main title is Sonny Rhodes.

are you guys serious? the Galactica would destroy any Serenity ships...if it can take on Cylon Basestars several times, to say nothing of the fact that the BSG has nukes, I highly doubt the ships in this low budget, overrated Joss Whedon show would be any match.
Plus, Adama is resourceful. He wins in every situation he gets into.

You see the Halloween episode of Castle where at the beginning of the show he puts on a costume and he came out the door dressed like Mal. He told his daughter of the show that he was a space cowboy. His daughter then said, "That is so 5 years ago." It was such a cool reference to Firefly by Nathan Fillion himself. There was even a Buffy reference.
