It's easy to see why this would happen. Cartman didn't care two craps about Kenny, and sometimes laughed when he died. In the episode where Kenny comes back from being killed off, there was a deleted scene about two minutes long where cartman does his best to kill kenny in order to keep him 'stealing my lines'. He then goes mental and ends up killing Jesus, which was then changedc the plot of Kenny staying alive for Good and not dying as often.
