The hand that holds the bow is not gripping the riser (aids in accuracy by avoiding tension) so when the arrow is released the bow falls forward naturally. The hand that pulls the bow string back twists so that the back of the hand is against the jaw line which forms an anchor point for consistent shooting (depending on the release device being used).
k i have never used a compound bow before, all i have used is a simple fibreglass recurve bow that i own.I have a questiopn about the compound bow:what is that big rod sticking out of the front of the bow for?
compund bows look shiny, but takes little to NO skill, i know im gunna get flamed like hell for this, but really now think about it, compunds do ALL fo the work for you
Hello, I am instructor for ITFAS (Irish Tradition Field Archery Society) Just wanted say I like your video. I don't shoot a compound myself, but it looks very well done. Can you tell me what song is playing in the background? Thanks, -Daniel
As a JOAD instructor and a competition shooter to boot. I can assure you that the stabilizers they are using are all exactly right. They let the bow go forward because this stops bow torque. They all have relatively good form and high tech modern bows. I shoot a Hoyt for competition but my hunting bow does NOT have the huge stabilizer on it just the normal hunting one. But both bows will kill just as quickly.
JOAD is Junior Olympic Archery Development league. We train children age 6 to 18 to become olympic archers with recurve bows. We also offer instructions for the compound bow archers of the same ages.
it's because if your bow doesn't drop like that, your squeezing it too hard. It should naturally drop forward like that if your hand is correct. To ShootingShadow666, about their stabilizers being too long. Those are competition bows not hunting bows so the more stable they are the more accurate, however in the field those are not practical for obvious reasons, also shooting styles vary from person to person so there is no 1 correct way, especially from hunter to competetive shooter. :-)
It is great to see videos like this!!! A nice change from watching people flicking arrows like they don't know how to aim. To these, at less give themselfs a chance to win.
Now i understand what you mean, but look at the top archers in the compound or recurve style in the fita or ifaa classes, mostly freestyle unlimited in ifaa. There you see that most of them are shooting their bows like this. and all these high tech things how you call it, make it easier to aim and hit the x or kill in 3d.
you can get a 400 dollar bow and do fine as well its about how well you shoot not always about the bow. If you practice enough with any one bow you can be good
buying archery equipment on amazon is the stupidest thing ive ever heard. altservices (dot) biz is the best imo, although you have to ship from england.
uhmm...my compound bow works wonders..so i dont know wtf u talking about. dont talk shit when u dont know. amazon is just a site that works as a place for OTHER companies to put their products there to sell jackass. amazon itself doesnt sell u the bow. ur the stupidest thing ive heard of sand crab
A compound is only easy to hold once you get it in to the "Valley" or at full-draw, other wise they can be freaking hard to pull back.
You and your friend OBVIOUSLY haven't even touched a compound.
You have to get the string over the cams, which is hard. SPECIALLY if you have what is called "Camand a half" it's like drawing blood from stone the first time you pull the bow back.
if you tense your hand when you release, you will twist the bow, which influences the arrows trajectory. If you grip the bow when you draw, you will not grip it the same way each time, so the most consistent way of holding the bow, is with a relaxed or limp wrist and hand.
I take it you havnt ever fired a compound bow before? If you have then you would know that 95% of compound bows are set so there pound weight is more then what a normal person can pull with just there fingers, with a release aid it uses all their hand to pull the string back.
So their isnt anything about pain but how powerful you want your arrow to hit its target =P
Why don't you target people just put a broadhead on the end of the stabilizer and stab the target to death? What distance are you shooting at.... 2 yds?
for pgh Hunter the "poles" are stabilizers, hold a bat by the middle and spin it, now hold it out from the end of the grip. Much harder to swing now because the mass has been extended. On a bow this can be used to balance or unbalance so the bow behaves how you prefer. Additionally it maintains the bow from turning sideways longer which will maintain the aim on the target long enough for the arrow to get away.
English war bow = 5000 arrows 30 hits ha ha. Some people are good at it, but most people just fling them, there is a similar sport called flight, just going for distance.
in re: to delance, most every compound archer shoots using a mechanical release of some variaty, the tips of the limbs are close together than on a recurve which results in pinch of the fingers and nock, and poundage is much higher as a low compound poundage is about 45, and a low recurve poundage more like 25.
Dude, my father-in-law took 2nd place in Texas state archery championship back the the 60's. It was the first year they allowed compound. He was still shooting recurve...lost out to a guy with a compound. That recurve wore him out after shooting all day! Recurve is hardcore!
Yeah, it was the first yr compounds were allowed, so I guess they didn't put enough thought into it. Or maybe it was an option whether you shot compound or recurve. It's amazing to shoot with him; no sights on his recurve but he can still blow me away even with me using compound.

Is a limp wrist more accurate?

for pgh Hunter the "poles" are stabilizers, hold a bat by the middle and spin it, now hold it out from the end of the grip. Much harder to swing now because the mass has been extended. On a bow this can be used to balance or unbalance so the bow behaves how you prefer. Additionally it maintains the bow from turning sideways longer which will maintain the aim on the target long enough for the arrow to get away.
