  • @USCisgay That GTP EASILY has 3k in mods. Much closer to 6k. I get what you're saying but you'd have to have a stripped down turbo powered GTP on slicks to run with this WRX. There's only 1 M90 powered GTP in the 10.'s (gutted and on slicks) while this WRX does it on street tires and street trim. I get your point in regards to these two cars BUT... you can not argue that the Subaru is a MUCH better platform to mod on. Mod for mod, the WRX will kill the GTP in every sport related category,period

  • I have a bugeye WRX sedan and not a lot of people know exactly what they do or how fast they will go around here. Oklahoma is full of retard drivers owning everything from the common Mustang all the way up to Ferrari's. I wont hate the car, but I will hate the drivers. BTW, kudos to all 3 of you guys.   • @goalie62633 i put that 3800 sc engine in my cavalier and i whipped off a 420whp full built engine sti on 26psi of boost on ¼ mile with a pulley kit, water to air i/c and slicks only 18psi and i can built that setup on 6 cars for the price of a stock wrx including the price of the 6 cavaliers lol awd cars are not for straight line racing, its only good for handling...

  • is it just me or are rolling starts getting old. a man much wiser than me once said, racing from a roll is for pussys who cant hook up. the wrx is a better car, but having said that the gtp has a huge disadvantage. 4 speed trans, 3rd gear is already 1:1, 3.29 gears, and the 3.8 makes most of its torque in low rpms. gtps r built for 1/4 mile races not rolling from 35mph. the wrx may win both ways, but it would be closer in 1/4. gotta have alot of respect for the gtp and the wrx, both great cars.

  • @purplestickypunch91 I agree 110%. Roll races suck ass. But you try finding someone to race an AWD car from a dig with launch control. The people willing to do so are few and far between. Most rwd or fwd cars need to be "prepped" to launch. This car was driven at all times ready for 1.7 60ft.'s without breaking a sweat... on the street...with street tires.

  • The GTP is an all around a better looking car, not so much this one. It is more limited than the other two. The SRT-4 is just plain gay. And the Subaru WRX says, "I have really, REALLY, skinny biceps".

    So all in all, I'd never drive a Subaru WRX or an SRT-4 without being able to hide on a track underneath a helmet. Like gokarts, they are much more fun to drive than to be seen in. Well, unless you are a metro.

  • @ShredaSpud Although I love GTP's and owned a moderately modded one myself... they are dinosaurs. They are great cars to own if you want a peppy DD with space for the fam but that is about it. The aftermarket for them is dying and has been for a long time now. They are hand me down cars with low resale value and the similarities between them and a WRX/STi stop at... they are both cars. Have you ever been around a Subaru crowd? They are not all tiny Asians with "skinny biceps." lol. I'm 6'3 260.

  • @japslapr I don't really participate in any "crowds" whether it's Subaru or Pontiac... I personally just don't like the look of Subaru or the WRX. Maybe it's the overdone hoodscoop, I don't know. People have their own ways. It's like the GTO they made for a couple years. Great engine, but the car looks like a flattened out potato and lacks character. The WRX is the opposite. I would remove the hoodscoop if I had one.

Problem is that I don't have money and there are so many fast cars on the market right now, whether it is the WRX or something more mundane like the Elantra Turbo. Right now is a good time to buy a fast car right out of the box.

  • @9indeath To replicate THIS car, it WILL cost you more than 16k to build. Transmission is 6500ish, Motor is a good 5500, AEM 1800, 1400 turbo, 7-800 fuel system, FMIC 1000, and tons of small parts that will add up and kill you. 500+ clutch, gauges, 800 tune, and most people will have a labor cost in their as well. Yes, you can build a Subaru cheaper than this, escpecially if you start with an STi. But even still, you'd be hard pressed to run 10's with 8k. Subaru's are very expensive to mod.

  • @Boxin4 Not what I said at all. Sti's have a better motor and tranny to start with. They'll take the power to run 10's in stock condition. The WRX will not. I said it would take a good chunk of cash to replicate THIS car. I didn't just buy an STi shortblock and tranny and go make 600whp because that's what everyone does. You see 500+whp STi's all the time3 on here. You don't see many, or any, EJ205 powered WRX's making this power.

  • @Billboard2001 Stock EJ257 will take 400 "reliably," 450 is usually were they'll stop if not trying to pop a motor. There are 18g STi's running 10.'s. High 10's, but 10's. Doesn't take more than a 350-400 whp when you're cutting 1.5-1.6 60ft's.

  • @japslapr I have a 20g on mine at 21 lbs and its at ~380 @ crank right now. With some higher octane I can run higher boost (obviously) and go easily into lower 400's but again that's at the crank. But I think that 400whp would be very hard on the stock pistons...

That Subaru can leave the line with 20+psi of boost and shift gears while WOT without touching the clutch. Zero lag. This Subaru is mine, the GTP is my best friends. The Subaru is a 10 second car in the high 120's. The GTP a 11.80 car at 113mph. Not a chance in hell. I out power him by a ton.

  • @timtork1 It ran a 12.2 so it definitely wasn't stock. You make it sound like EVO's simply run away from Subaru's and "we" have no chance. I assure you it's not like that at all. They have a Subaru- EVO shootout every year for a reason... because its still competitive. It is easier to make big HP numbers out of the EVO which is why you see so many more of them. On top of that, it's more expensive to build a Subaru. Mod for mod EVO's make more power, yes, but that is hardly the complete story.

  • The best part of this video (ok, maybe not the BEST) is that it looks like everyone is just having fun. Heck, that GTP's a pretty heavy car vs. the other, so it has a lot more weight to pull. The poor SRT-4... The only time it was doing anything was when he did the 1 hock start. :-) The WRX is a lower weight beast out of the box. I'll take my GTP though, but then again, I'm too tall to fit in one of the little cars so I don't have a choice anyway. Nice video.

  • @nickbuol First of, we've all been friends for a very long time. Secondly, they know how long and hard I worked on that Subaru. It took me over a year and 20k to get it done. They were just as glad as I was to see it running and really making power. IIRC the GTP weighs about 3400-3500lbs-ish. The WRX is 3300-3400lbs. Not that big a difference in weight.. This WRX just makes a lot more power than the GTP does.

  • On the street... from a dig, the GTP would have faired MUCH worse. Have you ever launched an AWD car at 6k rpm? It's crazy the way the car pulls. At the track, you would be right... he runs wrinkle wall slicks and dead hooks... 1.6-1.7 60ft's. I would still have caught him by the 1/8th tho. Also.. bit of insight... turbo cars still lag from a roll. They fair better in roll races because those gears are longer and they can stay in boost better. This car made 500awhp...in third gear above 5500rpm

  • I garuantee these are over exadurated times. Don't get me wrong that WRX is obviously pretty fast, but a 4 door GTP is a waste of mods imo. But for a semi stock SRT-4 to keep up with a built GTP is a load of crap. Stock for stock a GTP will crap on that neon.

  • @TiKondaRoga Wow... There are documented times for every car in this video first of all. You can check my other video's to see WRX times. Also, a 4 door GTP is a waste of mods? A stock for stock GTP vs SRT... GTP wins? WTF are you thinking? What is the mechanical difference between a 4 door and a 2? Weight is not much worse... Stock for stock a GTP in no way will keep up with a SRT4. Not a chance. Also.. I wouldn't really call this SRT4 "keepin up." It got pulled pretty good.

  • I really don't know the difference in stages for SRT-4's but I beat stage 2's in my stock GTP. And yes they do make a difference 4door vs 2door, these cars are extremely computer limited, even more so with the 4 door.

  • This stage II ran a 13.0 @105. Your stock GTP wont do that. You have MUCH learning to do.... the PCM is the same regardless of 2 or 4 door. Regardless, this one is completely altered. He has complete controll over it.

  • I never said my stock GTP will fo 13 flat... But I did say it will beat a stage 2 SRT-4...So either you're lying; every SRT-4 I've ran into with stage two stickers on them are lying, or this SRT has alot more done to it.

  • Well in stock form a GTP depends on year and yes coupe or sedan. If Stage 2 SRT-4's are suppose to run mid 13's then there must be some REALLY sh*tty drivers where I live. My GTP's best run was 14.7, but I live in Arizona with some really crappy atmospheric pressures.
