  • This "spotlight" logo was used by CBS at the end of their live programs from 1948 through 1951. By the time the "Eye" was introduced in October 1951, CBS had split itself into separate broadcast divisions, and live announcer I.D.'s were altered as well ["This is the CBS Radio Network"/"This is the CBS Television Network"].

  • Actually, George Burns is saying "Thank you, Willie" off-screen at the very end, probably referring to his announcer, BIll Goodwin- or his brother, Wiiliam Burns, who was one of the show's writers as well.

  • 0:00 and 0:08 Carnation Evaporated Milk. Now owned by Nestle and still available now.

  • Yep. They needed the Eye!

  • Fade out of theme music---think this is from the end of the Burns and Allen show, in either 1950 or 1951 (they brought in the CBS Eye for the fall of 1951, for a one-year imaging campaign, but it worked so well as a logo that they never moved on from it).

  • "Thank you, Wally!" -- heh!
