It's a nice song, but I think it encourages apathy. There's none of the bravery of Dylan, it's basically Mayer saying that the government is far too vast for us to have any effect, but collective and constant effort breeds social change. He's basically saying "wait, it'll just happen", which is utter nonsense. He's generally a great songwriter, I just find this to be quite an apathetic/passive song.

People no longer care about spelling or grammar, I've heard about five year olds' in relationships/cheating on each other/kissing and whatnot, and music now-a-days is influencing that type of behavior. There is one major flaw with this song. Why are we waiting for the world to change? We can change the world tomorrow if we decided to. John Mayer is correct in suggesting that he is unable to change the world. Because John Mayer is nothing more then a flawed individual living in sin just like the rest of us. However with the strength of God all things are possible. If we believe in the lord our savior and are guided by his true will we can and will change the world.
