Ovechkin? Oh god no. If anything hes like Alexander Semin. Besides the fact that Semin is one lazy son of a bitch, they both have phenomenal hands while skating at top speed. Although Bure is without a doubt faster than just about everyone.
@Hom3TownH3ro Ovechkin is a pretty good player, his skill is phenomenal, but he doesn't take care of his body, after the 09-10 season all the partying took a toll on him.
Personally I think a few things are overlooked in this video.
1) How tough this guy is. Fuck I mean, hooks, trips, holds, typical 90's NHL. No way in hell could ovie put up with that. This guy dished it back AND scored
2) Best shot ever? Especially in the panthers clips, look at his quick release, and his follow through. He literally ends up with his blade in the net he follows through so much.
I loved this guy growing up and wish more players today played with his heart and enthusiasm
@Loc2LocBeatz Took the words right out of my mouth. NO ONE has said it better. I modeled my entire playing style after him. (Didn't come remotely close, though.)
I cannot believe the amount of hooking and slashing this guy endured to get his goals.... if only Bure had stayed healthy enough to see the new NHL, he could have reappeared in the same way Selanne did. I miss watching Bure play
@cornboy111 ovechkin is not in bure's league , if Pavel were playing today he'd pot about 70 goals hands down . In the current nhl you can't hook and grab anymore so how can you stop someone who can stickhandle like he can at full speed. ovechkin is built like a bull and a world class player but he does not have the speed and supreme stickhandling skills like bure had , he comes close but he's not quite there yet. ( don't get me wrong i love watching ovi play but he's no bure just yet )
It's players like Bure that make me proud to say im a Canuck fan he has such great speed and poise with the puck, he had great patience greatest canuck hands down
sucks that he had to leave like as soon as he got on the rangers :(
he was a great player...but now we've got guys who CAN(not sayin they will, just have to the potential)like alex semin and pavel datsyuk, so we've still got bure remnants

If Pavel Bure was in his prime and played in the NHL today, he would dominate the whole league.

The Ovechkin of the 90s
He was so good. Too bad his career had to end so soon (and it ended on my favorite team too no less)

The only person that even comes close to Bure is Ovechkin. And even then Ovechkin isn't even close to Bure in speed.

Does anyone know where you can download these clips??

Sounds like the words in the song is from the movie "Swordfish" Hugh Jackman and John Travolta

He had to many knee injuries so he can't play ever again.
SabresDangle83 4 years ago
i remember when he scored five times against finland in semifinal in nagano98!!
ilpo88 5 years ago
By far, without a doubt, the most exciting hockey player in NHL history. If it wasn't for those injuries, who knows what his legacy would have been.

I hate the fact people compare Max Afinoghenov to him. Max is nowhere close to him. People should stop comparing them.
Teamrat 5 years ago
True, but that's finishing wise. Bure and Max are about even when it comes to speed. But Pavel is the better player without a doubt.
SabresDangle83 4 years ago
Afinigenov couldn't hold Bure's jockstrap. You wanna talk about Bure-like? Talk Cherepanov. He already broke Bure's Russian records.
pkocherAFS 4 years ago
I said Bure was better the afingenov...

He was a rockin Ranger and would still be playin had he not been injured. Still, tho, best player ever

well in Florida Panthers he had a One man show - but the game is about the team so he was not in with the general manager there with some good sleep

there's no way he was better in florida, he took us to the finals in 94, we would of gone nowhere without him
