I will always love Eckhart Tolle. I think it was his book The Power of Now that really started me on the spiritual path. I must have read that book a dozen times.

Finally picked up this book and started to read, of course it's already got an "Oprah" sticker/lable on it lol, but seriously if you are doing A Course In Miracles, I suggest you read A New Earth as a guide because it fits right in with The Course.

Why do you believe these things? I'm going to guess that it's because you've been told these things for a long time.
Why don't you forget what people are telling you (including people like eckhart) and ask "god" what the truth is. Hi Snoftra, reading your comment reminded me of something I read in linguistics known as a complex equivalence. it's where you erroneously say that one thing equals another when not such relationship exist. Your comment confused me as having read and listened to ET this is clearly not what he is saying. I would appreciate if you could explain to me what you mean by your comment? At the surface level it seems to make no sense at all. Please clarify.
The reason why Eckhart Tolle is special, is because he is one of those few people who has had a real and profound mystical experience, known as illumination. It's the experience which all true mystics on the path seek to attain. His words would have been meaningless if he hadn't had that experience, also known as cosmic consciuosness. I mention this because it is important. His words do come from the source, from within, which is why he has a strong impact on others. I respect him immensely.

ive never seen eckhart have an ego. he explains something that is incredibly hard to put into words and the mere fact that he has to say certain things does not mean he has an ego, its less the words and more the feeling behind it anyway that makes the ego. and his words are far from empty, i actually implement things he says into my daily life and notice incredible changes of perception for the better. authoritative theologies are empty to me so maybe its each his own.

I appriciate you sending this video to me, you bring up a good point. Thats exactly the notion that I challenge in my videos, not that Eckhart Tolle can't be a great guy but people think he is so "spiritual" for expressing abstract and empty words, when anyone can do the same and create their own new age belief system/religion. There are alot of psychological things that can answer everything he does as demonstrated in "Why We Belive in Gods" with Andy Thomson.
Well i think someone will seperate from there ego easier if they are compassionate or alturistic, this also allows the now to be more acceptible, i think by having a compassionate ego it is less demanding of you and actually creates inner peace.
Cool! How do you bring it about without thinking? Ive learned to focus on feeling my inner self rather than thinking. This tends to seperate me from my ego and i can actually see it seperate from me. Its so weird. At the same time you have to feed your ego with something constructive when you struggle. I think this is why the buddha teaches compassion.

Indonesia was Hindu-Buddhist for a very long time; it still retains much animist thinking; and traditionally it has a moderate form of Islam, which has been influenced by animist & Hindu-Buddhist thinking (except in Aceh). If you go to rural Indonesia you may find people who live for the 'now'. They have not read any books on the subject. They just know how to smile and laugh and have fun. When they are corrupted by western 'culture', they lose their sense of fun.

The reason why Eckhart Tolle is special, is because he is one of those few people who has had a real and profound mystical experience, known as illumination. It's the experience which all true mystics on the path seek to attain. His words would have been meaningless if he hadn't had that experience, also known as cosmic consciuosness. I mention this because it is important. His words do come from the source, from within, which is why he has a strong impact on others. I respect him immensely.

ive never seen eckhart have an ego. he explains something that is incredibly hard to put into words and the mere fact that he has to say certain things does not mean he has an ego, its less the words and more the feeling behind it anyway that makes the ego. and his words are far from empty, i actually implement things he says into my daily life and notice incredible changes of perception for the better. authoritative theologies are empty to me so maybe its each his own.

I appriciate you sending this video to me, you bring up a good point. Thats exactly the notion that I challenge in my videos, not that Eckhart Tolle can't be a great guy but people think he is so "spiritual" for expressing abstract and empty words, when anyone can do the same and create their own new age belief system/religion. There are alot of psychological things that can answer everything he does as demonstrated in "Why We Belive in Gods" with Andy Thomson.

Well i think someone will seperate from there ego easier if they are compassionate or alturistic, this also allows the now to be more acceptible, i think by having a compassionate ego it is less demanding of you and actually creates inner peace.

Cool! How do you bring it about without thinking? Ive learned to focus on feeling my inner self rather than thinking. This tends to seperate me from my ego and i can actually see it seperate from me. Its so weird. At the same time you have to feed your ego with something constructive when you struggle. I think this is why the buddha teaches compassion.

Indonesia was Hindu-Buddhist for a very long time; it still retains much animist thinking; and traditionally it has a moderate form of Islam, which has been influenced by animist & Hindu-Buddhist thinking (except in Aceh). i was mormon for 20 years of my life and when i saw the secret and changed my whole perception of the world and released my guilt and stopped worrying about going to heaven or hell is when i stopped actions that would be considered morally wrong i still drink a lil bit and i like to have to have sex with multiple partners which are two things that fire up my ego but i am on a path that i would never dreamed i would be on i also used to be a heoin adict.

I'm reading Eckhart Tolle's "The Power of Now", and he states how that "by living in our ever so busy thinking mind, that we distance ourselves from the divinity inside us.." (Please understand that this last statement is in my own words)
So if we can shut our minds up (Satan), we will get closer to the divinity (God) in us... makes sense to me! May sound too simple for some, but a baby would get it..

That's an extremely strong and negative comment! How can you be sure that he's not associated with God? And what makes you think that the only way to reach God is through Christ? Christ himself never said that, only the proponents of his sayings...the writers of scriptures. By the way, many scriptures have been hidden from the common man for a long time now. As I read some of the responses on here, I can understand a great deal of what he says. I prefer enlightenment to ignorance, and peace to war. I have found more peace from this thinking than I ever found in Hellfire and Brimstone, and I believe so much more in accepting my fellow man than I do in killing him.
