  • rosemead blvd. in e. pasadena was one. its now a mini taco bell

  • I really miss their tacos, they used american cheese, also they had great french fries

  • the best item on the menu was their pastrami sandwich. steamed bun with tender pastrami.......havn't had anything like it since.

  • White and black americans who usto work at fast food places who could afford houses and apartments to live in, wow what a concept!!!

  • I vaguely remember some employees being murdered in a robbery at a Pup 'n' Taco. Was this true and at what location?

  • @lincbond442 Don't know about any murders... But, the idea sounds good for a movie....D

  • @lincbond442

My mom had a friend who was shot in the drive-thru at the one in Compton during a robbery but she can't recall of any employees being murdered.

  • @droog83 That might have been the one. I was living near Compton in the mid-70's but I was too young to remember any of the details. I think there was a Pup 'n' Taco on Long Beach Blvd in Lynwood or South Gate.

  • is this a "real" commercial or a joke? Actually, that's not what I mean, but, is it real though? What I really mean is, is it a modern commercial done in a retro style, or is it really, just an old commercial? Either way, it's pretty cool!

  • @gjc82071 This is a fake commercial. more of a tribute.

  • @gjc82071 Wow, I actually thought it was real. I'm an admitted "retroholic" who loves early 70's thru mid 80's culture (video games, movies, commercials, etc). I literally had a hard time distinguishing whether this was real or fake. I actually did think it was a real commercial, but couldn't tell if it was old or modern. Anyway, it's really cool. BTW, who made it, do you know?

  • I worked at the one at 5 points in Norwalk,CA

  • I remember the one at the corner of Foothill Blvd & Sierra Ave in Fontana,Ca.

That's a Taco Bell now. They were awesome!

  • I use to love their slushies.

  • Harbor and Edinger in Santa Ana for me... miss the slushies

  • @maybNe1 Hey, thats amazing. I grew up on Menlo st in carson. I have to ask...Do you remember a drive-thu carhop called Mary had a little lamb (I think, that is what we called it). It was located on 223rd street over the bridge crossing the 110 fwy. The year it was around was 1970.

    Have a nice day.

  • @maybNe1

I worked at the Pup N Taco on South Glendale Blvd. in Glendale after school when in high school. What I remember most is being robbed at knife point for the cash register money............

  • Thanks for making this! Brings back great memories of this great little chain.

  • @Lalo3001 Your welcome.

    cheers,

    d

  • What year is this ad from?

  • I made this ad.

I just loved PUP so much when I was a kid.

    cheers,

    d

  • Oh. So this is not a real ad that was on TV. You fooled me!

You know, I never ate at a Pup 'N' Taco. I am from the Los Angeles area and saw plenty of them growing up but I never ate there. No particular reason. Just never had or made the opportunity. The food was pretty good? Too bad they are no longer. i'd love to try one.

  • Ha Ha.

I am so totally sorry for the ruse but I had to do some sort of tribute. They were really that good!

    d

  • what thappen to them?

  • They were bought out by Weinerschnizel in the mid-80's.

    d

  • Taco Bell Bought The 90+ location's in 1984

  • I thought it was Taco Bell who bought them out? Our location near our house in Gardena, CA became a Taco Bell in 85

  • their hard shell tacos were to die for too. But yea I remember their fries.

  • Did you know that the fries were made out of a potato paste, and not whole potatos?

    Just a funny aside.

    Cheers!

    d

  • Yes, they had the best tasting fries!
