The Lips version is better. This is a little too upbeat or something. The parenthetical title or the Flaming Lips song is "Death anxiety brought about by moment of boredom"; the Flaming Lips song just makes a lot more sense and has the right anxious, uncomfortable feel that this song doen't.

Still, I'm a great fan of Ben Gibbard's music, and I have loved The Postal Service for a few years now, I know every single sound in every single one of their songs, and if somebody would ask me, these are one of the best little masterpieces in the history of electronic vocal music.
I'm also a great fan of Death Cab for Cutie, which is Ben's main project.
I respect Death Cab, and 75% of Plans was pure genius, and so is 25% of the rest of their stuff, but somehow Ben just seems to make better music as Postal Service. Every single song is incredible.

I do like plans and a lot of the other death cab stuff, but Postal Service is exceptional.

For what Nirvana did, they were good. I love Nirvana, if you don't like them that is cool with me completely. But Death Cab is one of the really good bands out there, I used to not like them but I always respected their musicianship.

i gotta say, i'm a fan of both groups, but the lips version is waaaaay better in my opinion. There are no real beat drops in this version, and those drops are what makes the lips version so good for me. As is my usual complaint about the postal service, this is just way too sensitive for me
