Well, I've more or less started playing this a few months ago. The game didn't seem that interesting to me when it first came out... but that was because I've played almost nothing but Sonic until Sega dropped out of the console business.

I honestly don't blame you for pulling this off.
I actually used the same music in Quartz Quadrant (Present) in Sonic CD. Actually quite fitting.
