You know, I played Circle of the Moon and Portrait of Ruin before I played this. While I played Symphony of the Night, I wondered, is the Castlevania series starting to get stale or was Symphony of the Night so ahead of it's time that it's still the best Castlevania to date? Will we ever see something better than this?
I personally thought AOS was just slightly better than this.... but that's probably because I know japanese and could tell what all of the greetings and endings the characters said were, i thought it kinda got bad when they tried to add, (horror of horrors) 3D graphics, which I am not a fan of, there are just way to many glitches and the fact that they tried to make everything look realistic and failed, only makes it look less real to me, I prefer the flat planel plays way better...
@JokinJoe Symphony of the night just used best of playstation hardware for 2d graphics. GBA has worse hardware than psone but still i loved aria of sorrow and dawn on sorrow on nds. you should play them if you haven't. And considering Portrait of ruin....well, i think it has worst story than any other castlevania. Graphics and gameplay are good though. Still sotn is my favorite
@JokinJoe really the two best castlevania's were symphony of the night and IV for the SNES...i actually liked the first and 3rd as well. I haven't touched any of the others....so i'm not really sure what i'm missing out on but from friends who grew up with castlevania like i have from the start i hear i'm not really missing much storyline wise...it's gotten a bit out of hand.

I think it's somewhere in the 1400s. Alucard is my favorite Castlevania character partially because he is an interesting hybrid of human and vampire. What did death do to Alucard? I noticed Alucard's cloak turned gray too.

Or you can run custom firmware on your PSP and play Ps1 roms on it. Or if you don't have a PSP you can buy it for either XBLA on your 360 or PSN on your Ps3...so you've got quite a few options to play this game nowadays. Sucks for people like me who actually own the actual game on PS1 because the game isn't worth very much anymore since it used to be rare, but oh well.
To be completely honest I don't think Castlevania games are meant to be in 3rd person. The side scrolling games are much more classic and have better ratings then the 3D Castlevania games.
duplicator, equip that on 1 of your accessories slot. use power of sire or karma coin, or use both by equiping those on your right and left hand. then try to spam the X and square bottons to see for your self the real meaning of "power of sire".
also good in neutron bombs, monster vials anf the likes of these...
also you can use unlimited potions, mana prisms and elixirs by equiping duplicator.
Excuse me, but whats the name of the song that plays when youre fighting Dracula? I really hate how all of the songs have all of these different names (I.E. Clock Towers theme from SCIV is called 'Bloody Tears'-why can't they just call it friggin clock tower?! But anyways, whats the name of SOTN's theme when you fight Dracula at the beginning?
Well if you beat Dracula with Richter during the Intro you start the game with better stats for Alucard. If you get hit at all you get normal stats. And if you die and need Maria to help you, Alucard starts game with crap stats....

The video for this one came from the psone version of the game, but the game was also released in Japan on the Sega Saturn system and featured extra dungeons, and a playable Maria. The game was also recently rereleased as a unlockable part of Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles for the psp.
It is possible to get them back. The pieces of equipment you can get in the first castle (Alucart Shield, Alucart Sword etc.) are only copies with weaker stats. The real ones can be found in the second castle.
Production of Castlevania the movie was slated to begin in late fall 2007 in South Africa and Romania. Castlevania was planned for a late 2008 release. Probably later now due to the writer's strike. We're waiting.

One of my biggest disappointments about the psp version of SotN was that they included everything from the Saturn version except for the hidden dungeons and the special items within. In the hidden dungeon there was a special set of shoes that could make you walk faster and they kicked ass. Oh Konami, why do you torture us so?

It's out for download at the PSP Store, only get it if you have an upgrade to 5.00 or above. Yes, it costs $10 to download, but it's worth it.

Because "Bloody Tears" will always be "Bloody Tears" no matter where they play it, same goes for "Vampire Killer" and other Castlevania staples.
As for the track you want, it's titled "Illusionary Dance."
