  • I trained with Shihan Miller back in the late 80's. He is rock solid, and much of his training comes personally by Soke Okuyama of the Hakko Ryu system.

He can most certainly walk the walk, and he has my highest respect.

  • Sweet technique, especially the one at 1:16-1:25.

    Well done!!

  • All of the techniques are pretty solid, except that gun disarm. IMO, he didn't do enough to ensure that he was out of the line of fire of the weapon before applying the disarm. But the video is blurry. Maybe I just can't see it well.

  • W. Smith - why the hell don't you leave this guy alone? What's he doing that bugs you so much. Sure, some of his demos - DEMOS - aren't very real-life. But what did he do to you to deserve all this grief? How do you know he's not a sincere and diligent martial artist like you? And when did he 'challenge' you to a JJ match? Criticise his vids - that's legit. But you're doing a lot more than that, and it sucks.

  • One learns in many places...the classroom is the world, and the world is my dojo, if my dad can teaches Ju jitsu at a dance studio, two arts combine and strengthen each other...those ballerinas could kick your ass when he's done with them...materialism is far from Ju jitsu and even farther from your precious Kendo...that you speak of...

  • Hi.

    Joe Miller is legit.

    My two cents, FWIW.

    :)

  • The address, phone number & place of business you listed are those of a dance/fitness studio that specializes various forms of dance & physical well being. The closest thing to martial arts taught is a tai chi class for senior citizens. The web site (heartbeathouse dot com) lists all the classes taught and even has an instructors page which has names & pictures of all instructors and their credentials & you are NOT listed. How convenient that you didn't provide the website for this "dojo".

  • Furthermore, the concerns regarding your credentials revolve around traditional japanese sword arts (among other things) & challenging me to a JJ match does nothing to address those concerns. Did you even read my comment or bother to check the posts I referenced? And to top it off you offer to meet at a dance studio(?) that you don't own, maintain or operate. Are you serious? Did you honestly think that your reply would be the end of it? Did you really think I wouldn't verify the info?

  • that was taught to,at that time Shihan Miller.

Who are you? and what are your credentials? since you have so many comments.Furthermore, the only frud being committed is you,a little boy pretending to be a man."That's RIGHT BOY"

a real man would have walked in the studio and

get face/face,instead you do an internet search. What a real samurai you are, your are nothing but a scared little rabbit!.A freak of evolution "ALL DICK AND NO BALLS" give name/address of ur dojo so we can get face/face.

  • wsmith-I am also a student of Soke Miller, and I find it conveniant that you hide behind the internet to make your critisism. What is your background? What are your credentials? Soke Miller never said he held any rank in the sword arts, merely that he had learned from the origional GM Okuyama as part of his training, which he passes on to us. Soke Miller is a Shihan-Menkyo Kaiden San Dai Kichu in Hakko ryu Ju Jutso. He was given permission by Nidai Soke Toshio Okuyama to start his own system.

  • Perhaps this why you question his credentials and put Soke in "Qoutes" as to his title. In addition to questioning his credentials in Martial arts, you also in turn question the legitimacy of our art, and our founders whom Soke trained under in Japan. If actually looked at the videos you would have seen Soke Miller training with Nidai Okuyama. And the videos were not put up to display techniques, but to merely display vieo of The founders. Since there are so few out there. I find it quite-

  • disturbing that you would make such a personal attack on another human being. You definitly do not have the martial art spirit of brotherhood. You teacher ( if you actually have one) must be so embarrased by you. I know I would be if I was your teacher. And I'm not afraid to tell you who I am!

  • Hey!wsmith10804 let me start by saying, I am a studentof Soke Miller and have been for many yearsWe are taught the official Kendo rules, but we prefer to step out of the box and be bound by competition rules,we have no desire to join a Kendo Federation or to compete in any tournaments.Soke was taught Kendo and Iai by YOSHIJI OKUYAMA(RYUHO)Soke of HAKKO-RYU JUJUTSU,OKUYAMA had studied several sword arts.Soke Miller recevied his MENKYO KIDEN SANDAI KICHU MAKIMONO(scroll)9t dan license to teach all

  • The credibility of this "sensei" has come into question and concerns about his technical expertise have been raised. Open discussions about this sensei paint him as a fraud and a brief but thorough review of his credentials reveals most, if not all, of them to be questionable if not complete fabrications.

  • The information listed on Mr. Miller's site is dubious at best and the testimonials page lists various "students" making comments that range from absurd to laughable to down right disgusting. Also on the website he says has a dojo in Glendale, CA which is about 5-10 minutes from me. However, when I attempted to look the address up on Yahoo so I could drop by it says address not found. Anyone wishing to verify this information need only type 'Ronald Gotlin' in Google.

  • The second result in the search should be titled 'anyone already seen this???' In that forum are links to a couple of websites that either belong to or directly reference Mr. Miller. An EXTREMELY thorough post is at Bullshido dot net detailing the above and referencing the controversy regarding the previous YouTube videos. In that post it states that removal of these videos or the disabling of comments will serve as proof that he is a fraud.
