Offensively, last year there's no comparison. Both are better now than they played in that game. This will be a close game. If we can contain Wilson and the RB's and make them one-dimensional, I like our chances. If he's able to move around at will and pick apart the defense, it could be a long day. State is not a bad team and should be a bowl contender from the ACC. The Gamecocks face a brutal schedule but are quite capable of winning 7-8 games ... or more if the stars are aligned.

Typically, when above average ACC teams meet above average SEC teams, the latter wins nearly all of the time. Despite the likelihood that these teams will end the season with similar records, the talent gap between the two is significant. Carolina wins this game with relative ease, 10-14 point margin.

Cannot wait. I think this will be a very competitive game. I think the teams are pretty evenly matched. It scares me a little defensively for the Pack w/o Irving, but I think we have still have a lot of strength on the defensive side of the ball. Must be honest, USC worries me after last year, but with Wilson returning with some experience and a backup like Glennon, I think we should pull this off at home. GO PACK!!!!

Don't be too worried about last year! Looking back State was a totally different team then. Wilson was obviously nervous getting his first start, plus we had to play Evans and Beck most of the game. USC really just ran the score up in the 4th quarter scoring 21 points. Also USC threw multiple interceptions. GO PACK!

Im as die hard fanatic of the Gamecocks there is. But i must say, this 1st game vs the Wolfpack has me a bit concerned, my opinion, they have the best QB in the ACC and that is a hostile environment just like our Williams Brice. I really think these two teams are very similiar, and it could go either way. I will never forget last year when the pack's QB got hurt, i was sitting 9 rows up from the field and it was eerily silent,glad to see he's well. I think if USC running is good, we'll be OK..

Respectable post. I do think that Wilson is in the top 2 QB's of the ACC (Skinner-WF). Nesbitt would be up there, but he's not in an offense that compares.

I hope our WR's come to play and our young secondary grows up QUICKLY. I think this game comes down to who can run the ball. NC State obviously has the better QB at the moment. Irving's injury for yall and our starting DE (Geathers 6'7" 285) and starting NT (Ladi) are out. Sucks for both teams.

I am actually an NC State graduate and just finished my graduate degree at Clemson. So I love both schools. They are basically the same school in student body and degrees offered. I know in SEC country they don't watch many ACC games, but if you saw Russell Wilson play at the end of the season, you would know why this game won't be close...

Not so good defense? Everyone's returning except for 2 secondary players and our worst starting LB from last season. Nate Irving and Willie Young will sack SC's QB jmany times ust like the 1st half of last year's game.

(a) That defense gave up 34 points to an awful USC offense

(b) I don't care how great Wilson was against struggling Wake, Duke, and Miami (UNC was a good win, and you lost to Rutgers at the end of the season), but when you have no rushing game, your QB can't win it for you. We know from last year.

(c) Speaking of our horrible rushing game last year, our god awful running back averaged 7+ yards a carry vs your awesome D last year. Nice.
