Don't quite agree with the opinion of Scala977 about the state of her voice in 1943. After 20 years of performances, her singing remained as lovely and supple as ever. She is a wonderful soprano and her rendition of this scene is one of the finest on records.

The LOST "ART of SINGING" The female voice as it was meant to be not the covered, hooting bellowing shouting that continues on what professes to be the professional operatic stage. It is no wonder that sets, costumes, ridiculous staging are covering up for what is lacking
