Hi; i know your feeling of missing your home town,as i lived in tenerife for 6 years and even a stick of clacton rock means so much. I love the history of clacton...it was such a place in its day ...but sadly aeroplanes changed the class of holidays so much. clacton like many have fallen as a result of this. but its me knowing your feelings of your roots make me emotional.....because its "HOME" A lovely thing to do for those kids you teach. and a lovely feeling that you gave yourself. Adrian.
Some kid from my hometown drove around with a video camera and took footage and put it on youtube. Sometimes I watch that clip with the sound down, and open a second window and play this clip, so I can hear this song while I see the images of my hometown. Yes, I'm nerdy and nostalgic.
As already said, Clacton's changed a lot since then! I live near Clacton...in a way it's strange thinking that you guys have visited Clacton and have gone back home, so far away, when I'm so close to it!
Clacton's an alright place. What did you think of the Princes? Worked in there once or twice, tis a nice theatre.
That is the one comment we received virtually every place we went in England, "Your staying in Clac-ton???"
We were rolling with laughter by the end of the trip every time we heard it: "Clac-ton??"
(fyi, it was a drama exchange program for American teens who were performing romeo and juliet at the prince's theatre -- our director grew up in clacton and arranged the performance, as well as trips to Otley Hall, London, etc.)
Thanks for the video! Did you all know that Squeeze, from the same genre of music, is going to be touring North America in the Summer of 2007? Tickets are available on the Ticketmaster website.

This version of the song, with just a voice and piano, is far superior to the version with the full band. Sometimes less is more.
