Does this have a engine stop on it like mine? You turn the electrics off with the key but the engine wont stop, you have to pull the engine stop, which is like a choke handle, just a fuel cut off.

is the engine running or is it shaking and making a sound as if it is misfiring

if so it could be your alternator

we had the same trouble

No, its a diesel, 2.25 diesel, they always have stopping handles

have you noticed any loss of oil?

Yeah its always burning oil

your piston rings are fucked

you need new piston rings, possibly new pistons aswell

the oil from your sump is being sucked up past the pistons and being burnt with the diesel

that is your problem

No dude, you dont understand, the 2.25 diesel DOESNT turn off on the key, it just does not do it, the technology wasnt there to do it in those days on a diesel engine, you have to cut the fuel with the knob thats on the dashboard.

i remember when our dashboard lights blew out in the dark, we didn't know what speed we were doing so i had to lean over and shine a torch onto it for my father, haha good times, love the old series rovers
