My knowledge of raul julia for a long time was simply him as weird characters like Gomez from the Adams Family movies. I actually saw him in "Overdrawn at the Memory Bank" a la MST3K and just got into learning more about this actor trapped in a hellish movie. From everything that I have found I am so impressed, what a great talent and what a tragic loss at such a young age. Raul Julia rocks, what a brilliant actor and performer!

Yes Raul was robbed but I wouldn't say that there was an ethnic bias. Raul was well respected in the industry - loved - and I'm certain the reason he did not win had nothing to do with him being Hispanic. Artistic awards are silly - people vote for their friends, the shows they have money in, etc., sometimes never even seeing the shows they vote for. You shouldn't give them so much credence.

What a travesty that he did not win the Tony. I forgot Ben Harney in Dreamgirls the second the curtain came down. And it was a supporting role anyway. The Tonys show such ethnic bias it's appalling. In the past few years a few Hispanics have won but the history is disgraceful.
