3s 2200mah lipo is retarded on such a small plane and y desing the control surfaces so big only to fly with dulerates and no servo movement looks like a 3d plane not a circle flyer fly it as such
im building the same exact plane with 1/2 " foam ...what size motor and esc should i buy this is my first build any help will be appriciated , thanks in advance...
I use a Grayson Hobby microjet motor with a 6x4 prop. They used to sell a motor / esc combo package and I would recommend that. I believe I am using Grayson Hobby 25 amp ESC's.
if you are going to build this plane, build it with EPP foam i built mine with depron and its too unforgiving.. ... althought its stil pretty tough and i could fly it anytime after owning it for a year and having probly over 100 flights on it ive totally destroyed the plane 2 or 3 times and just glued it back together...i have a feeling that with EPP foam all the problems i had wouldnt be much of a problem
@godlike35 No. I would recommend an RTF kit, like the HawkSky. I believe it is easier to learn to fly using an airplane that you already know is supposed to fly. It will be much easier to troubleshoot your scratch builds if you are confident that it is the plane malfunctioning and not the pilot.
I think this is a very good airplane for learning to scratch build.
Hope that helps. Thanks for watching and happy flying.
@aerohas Short answer: I don't know. Long answer: It's not the type of plane I would expect to benefit from atypical control surface movements. The elevator works well at the end of the long tail, and the ailerons work well on the long wings. I don't think you gain much by adding the extra control deflections that mixing gives you.
@rooei66 I agree. I moved the CG further forward and discuss making it nose heavy at the end of my other video with this plane. Thanks for watching and for offering the suggestion.
@PecanGrowerNM where was the CG cause mine is at 1/2 the wing and mine is fine? Well mine is only 7 ounces too so that helps make it more forgiving I guess.
Greg, You must be a good friend of Dave powers, both of you are good rc pilots. I would hazard a guess that your a flight instructor or display flyer. full size.
Are you using a MJV3 with a 6x4 prop, on this extra 300? I just built mine from 1/2 foam and looking at the same motor, Good vids, lets have some more.. happy thanks giving. Dave
@sootydave1 Hi Dave. Thanks for watching and I'm glad you are enjoying my videos. That is indeed a MJV3 with a 6x4 prop. I don't do any 3D flying, so that's my basic setup.
wow that thing goes amazingly fast how fast does that thing clock on the radar gun when its doing a docile spinstall landing that thing is PHENOMENAL!
@ChappersSP Thanks for watching my videos Chappers. I'm glad you enjoyed them. The 'corners' between the wing and the fuselage are a significant stress point. The control horns, hinges, and servo mount points also take a lot of stress, especially the elevator. The plane will execute some fairly extreme maneuvers, so there is considerable force on the control surfaces. Hope that helps and happy flying.
@kloijhi Thanks for watching my videos. I use 1/2 foam insulation (12 mm) because I can purchase it locally. I've never used EPP, so I can't give a good recommendation. For the type of flying I do (ie, not 3D flying), I prefer the stiffer foams, like depron, EPO, foam board, foam insulation, etc.
I built one of these out of 6mm bluecor foam like yours but I added extra wing area and it slow flies nicely. Also I'm using a 2-cell lipo and It will still hover a little under full throttle. I can't wait to get a 3-cell, If you built one with 6mm bluecor and hot glue and packaging tape it will be an aerobatic machine! Nice flying 5*s!
sir, i am a student and want to built a helicopter an plans but i am not know all about
things. please sir, tell me all things who built a mini helicopter and plane and its all parts , wings, sticks, electric motor, radio power, controller, battery, etc.
@raisaqib5 Thanks for watching my video. I have a couple responses for you:
1) I don't fly helicopters. I don't know anything about building them. Sorry.
2) I recommend you start with a kit plane, like the Hawk Sky. It will be cheaper than building your first plane. I believe a kit plane is a much better first plane for beginners.
3) I buy my items from NitroPlanes and HobbyKing.
When I say 'Break the Stall', specifically I'm reducing the angle of attack on the wing. I just finished editing my video on stalls. Hopefully that will help better explain how stalls start and how they stop. Look for it to be up today or tomorrow.
Thanks for checking out my video rumble. A larger prop would be more suitable for high thrust, low speed flying like 3D. I'm more of a traditional pilot and I don't do any 3D, so the 6" prop is better suited to my flying style.
Thank you frogs. I'm very glad that you enjoyed my video. As a full scale pilot, I prefer flying my RC planes in a similar manner to the full scale flying.
Joe wanted to see a 'snap roll'. It's a roll maneuver using elevator and rudder just above stall speed. I've never successfully done one. Joe has actually done aerobatic flying, so he knows a lot more than I do.
The battery is an 1800 mah LiPo from my Hawk Sky RTF.
dosent dave sysy that 6x4 is no good for this plane? wanna build one btu i wondred if the 6x4 is working good for this

You state in the sidebar that you used 1/2" foam and shaped all the flying surfaces. could you do a vid showing that is a bit of detail? thx
nice vid btw. Your camera man (son?) is getting better too
RCcunuk 2 years ago
Thanks RCcunuk. He is my son and really appreciates the feedback. He seems to do a little better each time out.
I've been considering doing a series of build videos. I'll definitely put that on my list now including a part on shaping the control surfaces.
PecanGrowerNM 2 years ago
Hi,
Great video!
I think you are using 1/2in foam is that correct? Are you scaling up the plane also or just dealing with the extra weight?
Also can you explain how the plane is stalling as you show in the video.
thanks,
Bob
bobsiopener 2 years ago
Thanks for the compliment Bob. I really appreciate the encouragement. It makes me want to do more videos.
I use 1/2" foam insulation for all my builds. I can get it locally. I don't change the scale of the plane. I just build the stock PDF plan.
The added weight doesn't bother me, but the added DRAG can cause problems.
I'm a 'shaped wing' kind of guy, so I shape and sand all of my flying surfaces for added lift and reduced drag.
Thanks again for watching my videos!

What did Joe want?
Such an easy plane to fly, we had this as our second plane after the Wildhawk, used the Hobbyking TX/RX. Which has duel rate.
What size battery are you running, it looks nice n light.
