beginner mario paint composers tutorial

I've seen Mario Paint Composer videos when One part automatically goes to a higher number than the first place. Like for example, If bar number 1 hits a beat, it automatically goes on to bar number 8 so I'm really confused how to do that.

Hey I have a question, only if you know about musical notes and rythms: How can you make it sound like eighth notes with a background beat to it?
