it's a hip check. and it's above the knees (you can see the contact being made on his left short at 0:37, not his shinpad) thus it's not "clipping".

I love the statement by the dumbass who claims to be a ref, it is only a penaly if your shoulder goes into someone lower than the waist, but a hip check is perfectly legal UNLESS it goes beneath or into the knees. Just because Gauthier dropped a guy who was dumb enough to try and squeeze by is not his fault and he never should have gotten a penalty for being jumped.

that is the hit every defenseman of every age from vancouver to philadelphia to helsinki dreams of throwing. perfect hit, absolutely nothing dirty about it. the puck carrier had 2 choices: dump the puck or try to squeeze through.. he willingly chose the latter..great hit
