I think he's psycho, pathetic, and should be stopped; preferably in a violent, gut wrenching finale. IDK there's something about the lyrics that lead me to think this will end tragically for him. Mike, although you are far more thoroughly schooled in songwriting than I am, may I make a suggestion? Around 2:13, you begin using this 3, 3, 3, 3, 2, 2 rhythm as your base. I think that at that point it begins to sound a little lacking. I suggest you either change the rhythm a bit, or add some quiet chords in between your accented chords. I know this is just an aural sketch of sorts, and you don't have to take my suggestion, I'm just throwing it out there. ( : It sounds awesome.

mike, i really enjoyed this. my only criticism would be that the storyline moved really, really quickly in this song. i actually picked up most of what you wrote in the description from simply listening to the song, so you're telling the story very well... but it's just way fast. i honestly think you could expand this into a full-length musical very naturally. if you don't, i hope someone does. cheers.

I love the change between the beginning with the rolling arpeggio-things in the piano, to the more pronounced beats in the second verse. I can see the Alchemist standing up a little straighter, getting the idea to take action. The music relates to the story, and it makes it easier for the performer to perform what the composer was composing. Well done, Mike!! Can't wait to hear this rest!!

Not only the music, but the concept and the expression of it through lyrics is great here. You didn't say too much or too little, which is always the hardest part of lyrics for musicals or concept albums. The music was brilliant as always, and the vocals were very good at expressing the emotion that was needed. I cannot wait to buy this mini-musical this summer :)

Really well done but with out you saying what some of the story is about the only thing I caught the first time was he was a pharmacist that's about it. but the sound is very clean and smooth and very beautifully also the song it self holds a lot of emotion so I buy what the song is telling, it's bliss yet very depressing. The second time I listened to it, I heard a lot more of the story, keep working on it it seems very solid.

I love it! I need to hear it in the context of the whole work, though, so I will reserve real judgment. But one comment: those chords at 3:17 or 3:24 or so (on the "you" bit, that sound like syncopated eighth-notes to me or something) they sound a bit too complex, like they could do with a note or two less. My ear just caught that part as a bit odd. Sorry I can't explain it better, I hope you understand what I mean. And hopefully you don't mind my criticism. I love the song otherwise though! =)
